Survive the Jive: All-feed

This figure with a fylfot was discovered in Holmedal in Kvinnherad, Western Norway. Dated 6th-8th c. Some archaeologists think it would originally have been a mount on a sacrificial "hlaut" bowl.

The fylfot is a symbol of Odin and the sacrificial context, if correct, would reinforce the Odinic associations of this artefact.

I am accused by low IQ wignats of promoting “pajeet religion” and “pajeetifiying” our ancestors.

While low IQ hindutvas accuse me of “stealing” their ancestors or trying to “claim” their achievements. Even of “we wuzzing” (claiming to be descended from a group you are not descended from)

In reality I have never done any of these things. The claims are from a combination of liars and people who are too stupid to understand what I am saying.

They are as bad as the woke!

I was not aware of this recent paper - but it concludes, just as I did, that the swastika was related to the cult of Odin in the Viking age. It looks in more detail at some artefacts that I glossed over such as the Oseberg tapestry and others I did not.

It suggests an original solar significance of the sign in Gotland was transferred to the cult of Odin.

They refute the relationship between the swastika and Thor's hammer but assume there may be a more general relationship with the swastika and Thor.

They also incorrectly claim the swastika has an asian origin so the study is a bit flawed

A bronze escutcheon from an Anglo Saxon hanging bowl with a swastika design, found in East Hertfordshire, 7-8th Century.

Many hanging bowls feature Celtic-style decoration, and similar hanging bowls were found in Ireland, and in Viking sites in Norway. The Anglo Saxons may have enlisted Celtic craftsmen…or taken them as war trophies.

Bede’s Ecclesiastical History may reveal what they were used for;
“The king cared so much for the good of the people that, in various places where he had noticed clear springs near the highway, he caused stakes to be set up and bronze drinking bowls to be hung on them for the refreshment of travellers. No one dared to lay hands on them except for their proper purpose because they feared the king greatly nor did they wish to, because they loved him dearly.”

This could explain why so many hanging bowls were found in royal burials, including Sutton Hoo; a physical symbol of the king’s sacred hospitality. After all, stanza 4 of the Hávamál says one should give a guest water. ᛚ

For some reason Early Anglo-Saxons of the 5/6th century liked hanging bowls of Celtic manufacture. These sometimes display a Celtic art style that resembles the La Tene style from 500 years earlier. Additionally they are completely absent from the Celtic Western side of Britain (0 in cornwall/Devon, Wales) and are rare in Ireland (17) and Scotland (7) compared to Eastern England (117).

I believe these bowls were used for libation offerings, but this has not been proven. The Anglian king's burial at Sutton Hoo contained more than one Celtic hanging bowl, and one of them called bowl 2 is especially interesting because it had been recently modified with Germanic art added to it in the 6/7th century.

This petition is worth signing for the preservation and continuation of European culture and history.

The Norrbotniabanan railway is planned to be built, and archaeological sites along the route have been examined. A 3,500-year-old burial cairn may now be removed to make way for the railway.

This petition will be sent to the Västerbotten County Administrative Board and the Swedish Transport Administration in the hope of stopping this desecration of our shared cultural heritage.

The copper bowl itself is Celtic in origin, perhaps centuries old. The circular and square motifs on the side contain typically Celtic art reminiscent of the ancient La Tene art that was no longer in use. The centre of the bowl also contained a fish which could spin around. This may have represented the salmon of wisdom from Celtic mythology.

But the bowl had been repaired - patched in one place with silver and etched with two birds (probably Woden's ravens). On the underside there is a circle of clearly Germanic knotwork from Style 2 which originates in Scandinavia. In the centre of the circle is a zoomorphic fylfot of the exact same kind found in contemporary finds from Sweden.

So the pagan English were acquiring these old, likely pagan, bowls from the Christian Britons and then modifying them with Odinic imagery so they could be used for Germanic pagan rituals. The trend spread from England to the rest of the Germanic world with 26 found in Norway, 2 in Sweden, 1 in Denmark and 4 in continental Germanic Europe.

I think the oldest swastikas are from Vinca culture and Cucuteni Trypillia culture. I don’t count the ice age ivory example from Ukraine because it doesn’t look like one to me and also it is so far removed in time from any others.

I don’t think the later examples from Villanova, Andronovo, Greeks etc are anything to do with the Neolithic ones either

STJ's documentary rightly connects the fylfot as Woden's symbol, or at least as being Wodenic one. Folklorist and author Nigel Pennick, in the Journal of Geomancy (vol. 3 no. 4, July 1979) calls the swastika a symbol of Woden.

The image above shows the swastika on the wheels of Thor's chariot. This statue of Thor sits on top of the Ny Carlsberg beer house, who prior WW2 used the swastika as their symbol - as did many companies including Coca-Cola, the Scouts and National War Savings (UK WWI).

🚨 New Documentary 🚨

The swastika or FYLFOT was used by ancient Germanic peoples such as the Goths, Anglo-Saxons and Vikings. But what did it mean? Some say it was a symbol of the sun, some think it was borrowed from the Romans. In this video I explain how the fylfot was actually connected to the cult of the god Wotan aka Odin.
