And they belied them (those Ayat) wrongfully and arrogantly, though their ownselves were convinced thereof [i.e. those (Ayat) are from Allah, and Musa (Moses) is the Messenger of Allah in truth, but they disliked to obey Musa (Moses), and hated to believe in his Message of Monotheism]. So see what was the end of the Mufsidun (disbelievers, disobedient to Allah, evil-doers, liars.).

(Remember) when Musa (Moses) said to his household: "Verily! I have seen a fire, I will bring you from there some information, or I will bring you a burning brand, that you may warm yourselves."

But when he came to it, he was called: "Blessed is whosoever is in the fire, and whosoever is round about it! And glorified be Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists).

"O Musa (Moses)! Verily! It is I, Allah, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.

Verily, those who believe not in the Hereafter, We have made their deeds fair-seeming to them, so they wander about blindly.

They are those for whom there will be an evil torment (in this world). And in the Hereafter they will be the greatest losers.

And verily, you (O Muhammad ﷺ) are receiving the Quran from the One, All-Wise, All-Knowing.

Have you (O Muhammad sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) seen him who has taken as his ilah (god) his own desire? Would you then be a Wakil (a disposer of his affairs or a watcher) over him?

Verily the likeness of (this) worldly life is as the water (rain) which We send down from the sky, so by it arises the intermingled produce of the earth of which men and cattle eat until when the earth is clad with its adornments and is beautified, and its people think that they have all the powers of disposal over it, Our Command reaches it by night or by day and We make it like a clean-mown harvest, as if it had not flourished yesterday! Thus do We explain the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, laws, etc.) in detail for the people who reflect.

"And throw down your stick!" But when he saw it moving as if it were a snake, he turned in flight, and did not look back. (It was said): "O Musa (Moses)! Fear not, verily! The Messengers fear not in front of Me.

"Except him who has done wrong and afterwards has changed evil for good, then surely, I am Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

"And put your hand into your bosom, it will come forth white without hurt. (These are) among the nine signs (you will take) to Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his people, they are a people who are the Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah).

But when Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) came to them, clear to see, they said: "This is a manifest magic."

Quran Reminders

It is not Al-Birr (piety, righteousness, and each and every act of obedience to Allah, etc.) that you turn your faces towards east and (or) west (in prayers); but Al-Birr is (the quality of) the one who believes in Allah, the Last Day, the Angels, the Book, the Prophets and gives his wealth, in spite of love for it, to the kinsfolk, to the orphans, and to Al-Masakin (the poor), and to the wayfarer, and to those who ask, and to set slaves free, performs As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and gives the Zakat, and who fulfill their covenant when they make it, and who are As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.) in extreme poverty and ailment (disease) and at the time of fighting (during the battles). Such are the people of the truth and they are Al-Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2).

𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐲𝐚𝐡:

𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬

These are the attributes of the believing servants of Allah,

﴿ٱلَّذِينَ يَمۡشُونَ عَلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ هَوۡنً۬ا﴾
(𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐇𝐚𝐰𝐧𝐚,)

meaning that they walk with dignity and humility, not with arrogance and pride.

This is like the Ayah:
﴿وَلَا تَمۡشِ فِى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مَرَحًا﴾

(𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞...) (17:37).

So these people do not walk with conceit or arrogance or pride. This does not mean that they should walk like sick people, making a show of their humility, for the leader of the sons of Adam (the Prophet) used to walk as if he was coming downhill, and as if the earth were folded up beneath him. What is meant here by Hawn is serenity and dignity, as the Messenger of Allah said:
(𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫, 𝐝𝐨 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞. 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐮𝐩 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡, 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬, 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐮𝐩.)

﴿وَإِذَا خَاطَبَهُمُ ٱلۡجَـٰهِلُونَ قَالُواْ سَلَـٰمً۬ا﴾
(𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐬𝐚𝐲: "𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐚.'') If the ignorant people insult them with bad words, they do not respond in kind, but they forgive and overlook, and say nothing but good words. This is what the Messenger of Allah did: the more ignorant the people, the more patient he would be. This is as Allah says:
﴿وَإِذَا سَمِعُواْ ٱللَّغۡوَ أَعۡرَضُواْ عَنۡهُ﴾
(𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐀𝐥-𝐋𝐚𝐠𝐡𝐰 (𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐥 𝐨𝐫 𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤), 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐰 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐢𝐭) (28:55).
