most of the times it's a connector - esp if you are using it often to connect to the cable
if you get no screen and also no usb device recognized when you connect your ledger, it's likely a power/connector issue - without power, data channels also don't work so ledger looks completely ded
if usb device is recognized but no screen - display issue (data channels working means power is supplied)
Yes, my tezos ledger died on me a while back. I think it’s fixable but you need to open it up

if you have a multimeter you can figure if circle is rekt and where;
maybe it just needs connector replacement. maybe it only needs cleaning of contacts. or maybe it's ded and beyond repair
check the power pin/scheme in ledger. it could go broke. it's easily fixable if it's not a chip died

I tried using it on different devices and no luck. The screen was dead and baker stopped working so i think it was the legder that just stopped and packed up. Never had one die on me. I upgraded to the nano + a few months back but never used it so it was good time to start using that now i guess.
