I had exactly the same suspicions: videos are added to Telegram channels not only from smartphones but also from computers, and their quality can be very high. Telegram formats such videos in different qualities: high - 1080p; medium - 720p; low - 480p, but Telegram X can't do this. I checked the quality of this video through Telegram: "original: 1080p" (but still, this is the first time I've seen something like this. 15 minutes - 1.10 GB)))

Let me clarify and add: the video is 15 minutes long, and in Telegram it's displayed in the upper left corner as 273 MB, while in Telegram X it's 1.10 GB. That's 15 minutes! 273 MB is the equivalent of one 1.5-hour movie on a smartphone, while 1.10 GB is four 1.5-hour movies, or 6 hours. It's mind-boggling! Can someone explain to me why the same video appears 273MB in Telegram, but 1.10GB in Telegram X? To say I'm surprised is putting it mildly.
And these are not just numbers, this is almost 4 times the traffic consumption!

Fully restart the login flow.
You need to “reset” the process:

Close the app completely

(Better) log out or reinstall Telegram

Open it again and re-enter your number.

For "hide" phone number:

After think again, I guess the 1.10GB one is the original video, and 273MB is the one which was re-encoded by Telegram server's dynamic video quality feature.

And Telegram Android supports & shows the file size of re-encoded version; but Telegram X just show the file size of orginal version, maybe also don't support dynamic video quality feature on its own.

A link to any video with dynamic quality is needed for testing this.

Telegram server re-encode videos in large channel for better streaming, but better streaming is not smaller file size. If a video is highly ripped, it would become larger from most re-encoding.

I don't sub to many large channels so I'm not really sure what happened, but the video file size difference should be due to re-encoding.

Settings > Interface > Block Size: Previously, 1024 bytes = 1 KB, 1024 KB = 1 MB; changed to 1000 bytes = 1 KB, 1000 KB = 1 MB. Now have a problem: the selection won't deselect—it's impossible to revert to the previous value: It is not possible to deselect the selected option, and the previous option is not there - the selection search has disappeared.
Is this a bug, or did the latest version of Telegram X only allow one value, and the previously selected value remained from the previous version as a phantom?

On Telegram, the email login/verification option only appears if it was already set up before (2-step verification with recovery email).
If you didn’t enable it earlier, Telegram won’t offer it now as a fallback.

Iranian numbers (+98) often have issues because:

International SMS routing can be unreliable.
Some carriers block or delay foreign verification messages.

Usually it receives the code as long as the SIM can receive international SMS/calls.

Yes, this is a known issue in Iran, and it’s not just you. It’s a mix of government restrictions + telecom filtering + Telegram behavior, and all of them can affect SMS code delivery.

Connections between Telegram servers and Iranian mobile networks are unstable or filtered
Some features (including login verification) may partially fail.

Try official Telegram (not Telegram X)
It handles fallback methods better.
