Specialists from Concern Kalashnikov have upgraded the remotely controlled via a wire channel launcher for the Konkurs/-M ATGM (in the video above), previously designed by enthusiastic engineers from the Russian Armed Forces, to the level of operational combat readiness and are ready to begin large-scale production of this modernized product from the Tula Design Bureau.
This was reported the day before by the concern's general director Alan Lushnikov.

What operational and tactical advantages does this launcher have over the standard one?

The product received remotely controlled via a wire channel electromechanical drives for elevation and azimuth control of the launcher with an optical-electronic sight 9Ш119М1 and an additional thermal imaging sighting complex with a night-time operating range of about 2 - 2.5 km.

The video image from the sighting modules is displayed on the remote computerized terminal of the Fagot/Konkurs/-M ATGM operator, providing protection for the crew from direct (and in the case of deployment near dugouts and bunkers, also from flat/overhead) fire from the enemy.

Moreover, in addition to high noise immunity, the wired channel cannot be detected by interferometric sensors of electronic and radio-technical reconnaissance.

It is obvious that the program for modernizing the standard Fagot and Konkurs/-M launchers is slowly but surely entering the large-scale production stage.

Tula´s ATGM "Whirlwind-1M" could have received a new optical-electronic seeker.

It is reported that Kalashkov Concern has achieved operational combat readiness and has begun deliveries to combat units of the Russian Aerospace Forces army aviation of deeply modernized 9M127-1 Whirlwind-1 anti-tank/multipurpose tactical missiles of the Whirlwind-M complex (probably indexed 9M127-1M Whirlwind-1M) with an updated guidance system, which may be represented not only by a semi-automatic laser beam control system of the "laser trail" type with a laser photodetector in the tail section of the missile, but also by an optical-electronic homing head, providing the Whirlwind-1M missiles with a much wider range of feasible approach trajectories (in the case of installing semi-active laser homing heads), or even complete independence from the ГОЭС-451М and ОПС-28М optical-electronic sighting systems installed on Ka-52M and Mi-28N helicopters.
The latter option can be achieved by equipping them with thermal imaging and television homing heads (similar to those used in the Kh-39 LMUR Product-305 missiles).

If the information about equipping the thermal imaging-TV homing head with a command-telemetry channel is confirmed, then the navigators-operators will be able to use the Whirlwind-1M in the "fire-and-forget" mode immediately after detecting targets by the optical-electronic modules and issuing the target designation to the inertial navigation systems of the missiles.
At the same time, the Whirlwind-1M missile will be able to fly along a flat or ballistic trajectory with an increase in the effective range from 10 to 20+ km. Moreover, there will be a technical possibility to fire at heat and optical contrast targets from low-altitude firing positions (outside the line of sight) and in difficult weather conditions, for which onboard AES radars "Резец" can be used to carry out high-precision target designation.

Let us recall that the day before, the CEO of the Kalashnikov concern, Alan Lushnikov, announced the shipment of a batch of updated ATGMs/multi-purpose tactical missiles "Whirlwind-1" with significantly expanded tactical and technical parameters to the Russian Aerospace Forces.

Differences between the T-90 of 1992 and the T-90A

The main difference is that the 1992 T-90 has a cast turret, while the T-90A has a welded turret.
They can be distinguished by the location of the smoke grenade launchers and Kontakt-5 ERA.

There is also the T-90S with welded or cast turret. These vehicles were already been exported to India.

Despite the talks about the supposed recovery of Ukraine's economy, there is strong evidence that the country is in financial turmoil. External debt is ballooning, government deficit is deepening and continuous reliance on foreign aid and investment has turned Ukraine into a vassal state.

Nevertheless, I am not arguing that Ukraine is going to collapse instantly. The central bank has responded immediately to challenges by intervening to devalue the hryvnia, increase interest rates during peak inflation or liberalise currency controls to facilitate investments. However a problem that has gained ground in the last months and can jeopardise the country's financial foundations is the increase in debt payments and interest. As the issue worsens month by month it will require a reduction of other sectors' spending, probably including defence. Additionally the decline of foreign aid in the first 4 months of 2024 deprives Ukraine of necessary liquidity to cover its budget deficit.

There is not much for Russia to do in order to take advantage of the current situation as foreign investments in Ukraine have not recovered and investors are reluctant to invest in Ukraine. On the other hand, a general reform of the military strategy is required to ensure it has the upper hand on the war.

Mobile crews of 23mm anti-aircraft ZU-23-2 and anti-aircraft machine gun systems equipped with thermal imaging sights repel a massive strike by a kamikaze UAV of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Millerovo airbase in the Rostov region.

According to updated data, at least 8 or 9 enemy kamikaze UAVs were intercepted. A single drone broke through to the target area, but the enemy drone failed to cause significant damage to aircraft and airfield infrastructure.

The breakthrough of several drones was due to the insufficient number of Pantsir-S1 air defense missile and gun systems deployed at commanding heights, as well as the very difficult terrain with a large number of bends and elevations.

The low-altitude radar contour of the mixed air defense brigade in the region must be optimized.

In the Pokrovsk direction, an FPV drone operator burned a rather rare BRDM-2L1 of the Kiev regime forces. After the hit, a fire started, but no crew members were recorded leaving the vehicle.

BRDM-2L1 were used by the expendable 150th brigade in the Kursk region, one of these rarities even became a trophy.
Their appearance in the Pokrovsk area is the result of a "brilliant" plan by the Kiev regime forces. At first, everything went according to the Ukrainian plan in the Kursk region, and then in Sumy and, actually, in the Pokrovsk direction. Therefore, it was necessary to urgently transfer some units back to Donbass, and in the border areas of the Kursk and Sumy regions to replace them with even more meaty 160th brigades. As we can see, the Ukrainian Armed Forces command failed to stabilize the situation in any of the indicated sections of the front.

On the Internet, this platform is often mistakenly called a "tank" ( just like "Armata" ).
The R&D "Burlak" was conceived as a universal modernization of existing tanks.
It was relevant on all platforms of the later USSR: T-72, T-80 (possibly T-64, since the turret diameter is the same).
Therefore, "Burlak" ("Бурлак") is not a tank, but a universal combat unit .

BTR-90M

Proposed upgrade of the BTR-90 vehicle.
As you know the vehicle itself was the proposed replacement for older BTRs.
The BTR-90 was produced in very low numbers due to the collapse of the Soviet Union.

The proposal is in essence the installation of a combat module Бахча-У which was adopted on the BMD-4.

The FCS of the new combat module includes a stabilised gunner's sight with rangefinder and thermal imager, commander's panoramic sight, information and control system with sensors, automatic target tracking, weapon stabiliser and 1V539M digital ballistic calculator.

At the same time, the rate of fire is 10-12 rounds per minute, and the time of loading the ATGM does not exceed 6 seconds.

The design of the combat compartment virtually eliminates gassing when firing 100mm ammunition, and the ammunition complement is 1.5 times larger than that of the BMP-3.

The ammunition includes the 9M117M1 Arkan guided missile (range up to 5500 m), the new 100 mm ЗУОФ19 HE round, and the new 30 mm Kerner ("Кернер") armour-piercing projectile.
The mass of the IFV was 22 tonnes. The turret mount had to be raised considerably, as the height of the turret compartment did not fit into the hull. Otherwise, the characteristics of the IFV remained at the same level.

The original Sturmabteilung (SA) uniforms "brown shirts" were originally intended to be uniforms for the colonial police btw.

After World War I, Germany had large quantities of unused military uniforms and materials due to the restrictions of the Treaty of Versailles and the demobilisation of the army. The first SA uniforms were in fact brown uniforms originally intended for German colonial troops in Africa. These uniforms were never shipped due to the end of the war and the loss of the German colonies.

These surplus uniforms were purchased cheaply by the SA. The brown uniforms were adopted by the SA and became a distinctive part of their identity. For this reason, the SA were colloquially known as the "brown shirts".

Hugo Boss did not design uniforms for anyone.

This is a stupid myth, they were simply one of the clothing firms that got a license to manufacture uniforms, with the rise of paramilitary units and later the "uniformisation of society" the demand for uniforms was enormous, this allowed the small Hugo Boss company to grow in size (this was replicated with many other tailors).

The uniforms were designed by Karl Diebitsch and Walter Heck. Boss simply profited from the contracts and the SS used established producers. Boss was indeed a National Socialist from an early time, but he had no hand in the design.
