❗️Statement by Hamas's Qassam Brigades on its fighters besieged in Rafah:
——

"The [Israeli] occupation bears full responsibility for the clashes with our fighters in Rafah, who are defending themselves inside an area under the occupation's control. Let the enemy know that the Qassam Brigades’ dictionary does not include ‘surrender’ or handing oneself over to the enemy.

We place the mediators on notice: they must fulfil their responsibilities and find a solution that preserves the ceasefire and prevents the enemy from using weak pretexts to violate it and target innocent civilians in Gaza.

The recovery of bodies over the past period took place under extremely complex and difficult conditions. Despite that, we complied with the terms of the agreement, and we reiterate that recovering the remaining bodies will require additional teams and specialized technical equipment."

❗️UN: Israeli settler attacks on Palestinians hit record high in October

Israeli settlers carried out at least 264 attacks on Palestinians in the occupied West Bank during October, the highest monthly figure recorded since UN officials began tracking such incidents in 2006, the UN reported on Friday.

In a statement highlighting the surge in violence, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said the attacks, which caused both casualties and property damage, averaged eight attacks per day.

"Since 2006, OCHA has documented over 9,600 such attacks. About 1,500 of them took place just this year, roughly 15 per cent of the total," the UN statement said.

❗️US Supreme Court temporarily allows Trump administration to withhold SNAP benefits

The US Supreme Court has issued an emergency order temporarily permitting the Trump administration to withhold billions in funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which provides food benefits to around 42 million Americans. The move comes after a lower court had ordered the government to pay out the program in full, warning that "16 million children are immediately at risk of going hungry." The administration argued that, due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, it could only partially fund SNAP, which costs nearly $9  billion a month.

Friday’s ruling allows $4  billion to be temporarily withheld pending further legal hearings, effectively freezing the lower court’s decision. USDA officials said they were working to comply with court orders and were taking steps to distribute the full benefits, while Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson issued an administrative stay to allow the government time to pursue an appeal. The legal battle follows the USDA’s announcement that SNAP payments would be halted in November because of the shutdown.

The funding dispute is part of the longest federal government shutdown in US history, affecting millions of Americans.

Government employees have gone unpaid for over a month, air travel has been disrupted, and some states have had to rely on their own reserves to maintain SNAP payments. However, not all states can cover the shortfall, leaving recipients, who receive around $6 per day via pre-loaded debit cards, in uncertain circumstances.

❗️Israel rejects Turkiye’s genocide warrants for Netanyahu and top officials

Israel has rejected Turkiye’s arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and 36 senior officials accused of genocide in Gaza, calling them a “PR stunt.”

Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said Israel “firmly rejects, with contempt” the charges, describing them as “the latest PR stunt by the tyrant Erdogan,” and accusing Turkiye’s judiciary of serving “to silence political rivals and detain journalists, judges and mayors.”

The warrants, issued by Istanbul’s prosecutor, name Defense Minister Israel Katz, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, and army chief Eyal Zamir among others, for “genocide and crimes against humanity” committed systematically in Gaza.

Hamas praised the move as a “commendable measure” that reflects Turkiye’s “commitment to justice, humanity, and fraternity” with the Palestinian people.

⭕️ Ahmad al-Sharaa arrives in US for talks with Trump

Syrian interim President Ahmad al-Sharaa — formerly Abu Mohammad al-Julani — has arrived in Washington for official talks with US President Donald Trump, just days after the US revoked his designation as a global terrorist.

The visit follows the lifting of UN sanctions on Sharaa and his interior minister and marks a new stage in Washington’s rehabilitation of Syria’s new leadership after the US-backed fall of Bashar al-Assad.

Once the head of Al-Qaeda affiliate Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and a former deputy to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, Sharaa now presents himself as a “moderate reformer.”

Trump has praised him as “a tough guy doing a very good job.”

‼️ Hamas’s Qassam Brigades announces that, as part of the Al-Aqsa Flood prisoner exchange deal, it will hand over the body of Israeli officer Hadar Goldin, found yesterday afternoon in a tunnel in the Yebna camp in Rafah, southern Gaza, at 2 PM Gaza time.

According to Israel's Channel 14, Israel estimates that the remains of Hadar Goldin will not be returned tonight, and that Hamas is expected to demand a separate deal regarding him.

Who is Hadar Goldin?

Lieutenant Hadar Goldin was an Israeli army officer from the Givati Brigade who went missing during Israel’s deadly 2014 war on Gaza, "Operation Protective Edge." On 1 August 2014, during a declared ceasefire in Rafah, he disappeared following clashes with Palestinian resistance fighters. Israel immediately invoked the Hannibal Directive, the military policy authorizing overwhelming fire to prevent a soldier’s capture, and unleashed hours of indiscriminate bombardment across Rafah, massacring between 130 and 200 Palestinians, mostly civilians, in an act of collective punishment for Goldin’s capture that came to be known as "Black Friday."

While Israel maintains that Hamas killed him, multiple investigations and testimonies suggest he was instead killed by Israel’s own bombardment under the Hannibal Directive.

❗️EU plans new center to combat alleged online disinformation

The European Union is moving to establish a "Centre for Democratic Resilience" under its proposed "democracy shield" initiative, framed as a defense against online disinformation. The project, detailed in a leaked document, would coordinate EU member states and allies in monitoring, flagging, and countering what Brussels defines as “information manipulation” by alleged foreign actors. Critics, however, warn that such a centralized body could blur the line between combating propaganda and policing dissent, granting the EU sweeping authority over online speech.

The proposed center would share early-warning data, deploy public awareness campaigns, and align national responses to perceived information threats. The draft explicitly cites Russia’s "hybrid attacks" and China’s influence operations but offers few safeguards against the misuse of "disinformation" as a political label.

Participation in the initiative would be voluntary for EU states and "like-minded partners" such as the UK, while a parallel plan envisions a network of approved fact-checkers and social-media influencers to "promote democratic values."

Critics argue this risks institutionalizing propaganda under the guise of resilience, potentially silencing independent journalism and critical voices across the bloc.
