According to six militia commanders and senior Iraqi officials, disarmament talks with Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani are “very advanced,” and the groups are “fully aware” of the threat of US airstrikes if they do not comply.
“Trump is ready to take the war with us to worse levels… and we want to avoid such a bad scenario,” said a Kataib Hezbollah commander. The militias—part of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq—have launched numerous attacks on US and Israeli targets since the Gaza war began. Discussions reportedly include the possibility of transforming the militias into political entities or integrating them into Iraq’s armed forces.
However, sources in Iraqi factions, speaking to Al-Hadath, responded to the Reuters report, say they have "chosen calm, not disarmament."

❗️According to Yedioth Ahronoth, Israel is expected to renew the entry of humanitarian aid to Gaza within weeks, without a swap deal and regardless of the intensity of the fighting.

⭕️ In an exclusive interview with the Lebanese Broadcasting Channel (LBC), US envoy Morgan Ortagus called for disarming Hezbollah saying:
"We, of course, always bring up disarming Hezbollah. But not just Hezbollah — all militias in this country. President Aoun said clearly in his inaugural speech that he wanted the state to have the monopoly of force. He wanted the state to be the one with the weapons. That is a position that we support. And so, we continue to press this government to fully fulfill the cessation of hostilities. That includes disarming Hezbollah and all militias."
When asked for a timeline, Ortagus said that there is no clear date but that the disarmament should happen as soon as possible.
When asked about the issue of normalization with Israel, Ortagus said that the topic wasn't brought up, and instead emphasized on disarming Hezbollah.
