– An Israeli force from the Yahalom engineering unit, operating under the Golani Brigade in Rafah, was clearing a tunnel opening inside a building.
– Around 5:30 PM, an explosive device detonated inside the tunnel opening, killing two soldiers and injuring two others, one critically.
– The unit had conducted preliminary scans and sweeps of the building and tunnel entrance, but still failed to detect the explosive.
