❗️Tunisian civil coalition launches land convoy to break siege on Gaza
A coalition of Tunisian civil society groups has organized a large-scale land convoy to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza and challenge the ongoing Israeli siege. Dubbed the Sumud Convoy, the mission is scheduled to depart on 9 June 2025 via Libya and Egypt toward the Rafah crossing, which remains closed by Israel. Organizers say over 7,500 volunteers have joined the effort since 13 May, including members of Tunisia’s football ultras known for their history of political activism.
While the Freedom Flotilla draws global media attention, Tunisian organizers stress this initiative is both humanitarian and political in nature, aimed at confronting Israel’s blockade and what they describe as a policy of enforced starvation. The convoy includes medical and food supplies and is being coordinated by the Tunisian Coordination for Joint Action for Palestine in collaboration with local solidarity groups. Calls are growing to amplify the convoy’s visibility amid fears of obstruction or targeting.

❗️The Israeli military has issued another mass displacement order this morning for the Jabalia area in northern Gaza amid intensified air and artillery strikes, forcing more Palestinians to flee under fire.

The Left in the European Parliament has condemned Israel’s seizure of the Madleen aid ship as a “blatant violation of international law,” carried out outside Israeli territorial waters. The political group, which includes 46 lawmakers, said the arrest of the crew and confiscation of humanitarian supplies is part of a broader strategy to “starve and massacre Palestinians in Gaza while hiding Israeli war crimes from the world.”
In a statement, the bloc urged the EU, UN, and international community to condemn the detention, demand the crew’s unconditional release, and ensure unimpeded aid entry into Gaza. “Solidarity is not a crime, genocide is,” it added.
❗️The Jewish Council of Australia has called on Canberra to secure the immediate release of the Madleen’s crew after the aid vessel, part of the Gaza Freedom Flotilla, was intercepted by Israeli forces earlier this morning.
Council executive officer Sarah Schwartz said Israel “cannot be trusted to ensure the safety of the Freedom Flotilla crew,” citing its history of killing activists attempting to deliver aid to Gaza. She condemned western governments for their continued inaction in the face of Israeli war crimes and warned that Palestinians in Gaza face imminent starvation as humanitarian access remains blocked.

——
The United States and Israel have agreed that the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) should end its operations in southern Lebanon, the Jerusalem Post and Israel Hayom confirmed Sunday.
The US administration has decided not to renew UNIFIL’s mandate, and Israel reportedly "did not try to convince them otherwise." A vote on the mandate is expected at the UN Security Council in the coming months.
UNIFIL, which was established in 1978 and expanded after Israel's war on Lebanon in 2006, currently includes more than 13,000 uniformed personnel tasked with monitoring hostilities along the Blue Line and ensuring humanitarian access.
No officials from the US, Israel, or the UN have publicly commented on the decision.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been pushing for UNIFIL’s removal from Lebanon since as far back as October 2024.
Analysts believe the move is intended to eliminate international observers who could monitor or document Israeli military activity in southern Lebanon.

Police officer and serviceman killed in Israeli strike on police unit in Nuseirat camp
The Ministry of Interior and National Security in the Gaza Strip condemns the Israeli occupation’s crime of bombing a police unit while it was carrying out its duty to protect citizens’ property and pursue a group of thieves in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza last night. The strike led to the martyrdom of an officer, a police serviceman, and a third civilian bystander, while several others were injured.
As the Ministry mourns the martyrs of this latest Israeli crime, it affirms that the police forces will continue to fulfill their national and humanitarian duty toward our people. Repeated Israeli targeting will not prevent them from carrying out their responsibilities.
The occupation’s bet on spreading chaos, sabotage, and the looting of aid through its agents - while shielding criminal gangs - will fail.
We call on the international community to urgently intervene to halt the Israeli occupation’s attacks on police forces and the killing of its personnel, which aim to fuel disorder and lawlessness in Gaza. These acts are part of a broader policy of engineered starvation carried out by blocking the entry and distribution of aid via recognised UN agencies.

❗️Hamas has condemned the Israeli seizure of the Madleen aid ship, calling it “an act of state-sponsored terrorism” and “piracy” committed in international waters by the Israeli occupation forces.
“We strongly condemn the act of piracy committed by the Israeli occupation forces by intercepting the Madleen solidarity ship in international waters, as this is an act of state-sponsored terrorism,” the group said in a statement. “We salute the activists of different nationalities who affirmed that Gaza is not alone. The Madleen and upcoming land convoys from Algeria, Tunisia, Jordan, and elsewhere are living proof of the failure of Zionist propaganda.”

❗️The Palestinian Center for Prisoners’ Defense has documented harrowing testimonies from detainees released by Israeli forces, confirming they were subjected to torture, deliberate starvation, and inhumane detention conditions.
Twelve detainees were transferred on 6 June from the Israeli military site at Kissufim to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, following months in detention.
According to their accounts, they were held without charge, denied food and water, and suffered severe neglect. Some were in critical condition upon release due to prolonged abuse.
The center warned of the continued policy of enforced disappearance targeting prisoners from Gaza, as Israel refuses to disclose their locations or medical conditions.

❗️Social media users have pushed back against Israel’s labeling of the Madleen aid ship as a “selfie yacht,” by resurfacing images of Israeli soldiers posing for photos amid Gaza’s ruins since the invasion began in late 2023.
Rights advocate Assal Rad posted a photo of Israeli troops in front of bombed-out buildings, captioned “selfie yacht.” Mitchell Plitnick, president of ReThinking Foreign Policy, posted similar photos, asking: “So what do we call the Israeli army?” Israeli troops have repeatedly circulated videos mocking Palestinians throughout the war.
❗️Israeli War Minister Israel Katz has instructed the military to screen video footage of the 7 October attack for international activists detained aboard the Madleen, the Gaza freedom flotilla intercepted and redirected to the port of Ashdod.
In a statement on X, Katz congratulated Israeli forces for their “swift” operation and repeated accusations that Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, one of those detained, is “anti-Semitic” and supports Hamas. He claimed it would be “appropriate” for the activists to view the footage, which Israeli officials continue to use as justification for the ongoing genocide.
