❗️Joint statement from Israeli Minister of Defense Israel Katz and army Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir:

"Minister of Defense Israel Katz and Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, met today (Tuesday) for a private meeting.

In the meeting, the two summarized the IDF appointment procedure, which will continue to include prior consultation out of a commitment to full cooperation, maintaining command continuity, and strengthening the IDF's capabilities in dealing with security challenges.

The appointment process in the IDF is a cornerstone in personnel management, and we will continue to do everything to advance it smoothly and professionally."

The two had previously clashed on the matter after Zamir made senior appointments which Katz said he had not been consulted on.

At the time, the minister said that his authority to approve promotions is stipulated in Israeli law, while the army chief is meant only to recommend options. He also accused Zamir of trying to back out of agreements at the request of “anti-government advisors [in the army] stirring the pot.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's also alleged that Zamir was trying to instigate a "coup" in the army, after the Chief of Staff had expressed major concern overs the Gaza City occupation plan.

❗️Germany rules out recognizing Palestinian state

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated on Tuesday that Germany would not take part in an initiative to recognize a Palestinian state at next month’s UN General Assembly.

He made the remarks during a joint press conference with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who announced last month that Canada would recognize the state of Palestine at the General Assembly, joining similar moves by France and Britain.

"The position of the federal government is clear, as far as the possible recognition of the state of Palestine is concerned," Merz said.

"Canada knows this. We will not join this initiative. We don't see the requirements met."

Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El-Wazir announced a new financing initiative to restructure and restart stalled factories, part of a broader plan to raise industry’s share of GDP from 14 to 20 percent.

During a visit to Alexandria, El-Wazir met Governor Ahmed Khaled and local investors, inspected factories in key sectors, and reviewed construction of the Alstom Industrial Complex in New Borg El-Arab, intended to localize Egypt’s railway industry.

He confirmed ongoing financing programs for production lines and working capital, pledged to remove bureaucratic hurdles, and announced plans to formalize unplanned zones, relocate factories from residential areas, and offer new industrial land plots via the Industrial Digital Platform in September.

❗️ Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said the army will maintain its presence on Mount Hermon and in the security zone inside Syria to protect Golan Heights and Galilee communities, calling it a lesson from the October 7 attacks.

He added, “We will also continue to ensure the safety of Druze communities in Syria.”

His remarks come as Syrian officials signal willingness to restore the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement, with President Ahmed al-Sharaa saying he would consider a wider deal if it served Syria’s interests. Israel has expanded operations along the frontier, seizing weapons, carrying out airstrikes on southern Syria, and targeting regime-linked sites near Damascus.

❗️Iraq’s Yezidis reject resettlement in Kurdistan, demand return to Sinjar

Dozens of displaced Yezidis protested on Monday at the Jam Mashko camp in Zakho, northern Iraq, rejecting a government plan to resettle them in the Kurdistan Region instead of enabling their return to Sinjar, their original homeland.

Demonstrators carried banners condemning the decision, stressing that they have endured over 11 years of displacement without concrete steps to rebuild their towns, and called on international authorities to support their safe return and provide compensation, similar to payments received by families returning from Al-Hol camp.

The Yezidis, who suffered genocide after ISIS invaded Sinjar in 2014, killing and abducting thousands, remain among Iraq’s most vulnerable communities.

Roughly 200,000 are still displaced, many in camps with limited services, while more than 2,600 women and children remain missing and dozens of mass graves remain unopened.
