XLIFF 2.0 allows flagging "approved" messages
but that's a bit off-topic for this group
AI is not going to replace the lawyer, the doctor, I don't think so. It will just allow those specialists to serve more clients.

Without LLMs there's absolutely 0 chance we can have enough human translators to keep up with the pace of software development.

Yes, there may be shifts in how automatable work is valued, but it will not even be huge

and I seriously doubt that Cursor will help me be more productive. I tried these kinds of IDEs and plugins and they're all just wasting time. Mostly I'm using AI for things like quickly discovering a previously unknown domain.

you also don't want to feed sensitive information into a potential competitor's machine. Hence, LLMs can't be used everywhere for every problem. Only if AI will become so accessible that you can practically run one yourself - only then there's a chance of mass adoption for serious workloads.

only if we can crack the code of the human brain (meaning getting AI to its levels of learning and operating effiency) can we actually talk about AI agents replacing human staff. It's impossible with current levels of AI and as of now you can only get there by extrapolating which is obviously a flawed prediction.

I am actually so excited about how this website is turning out.

It's nice to have someonething to ask, as long as you understand what it's telling you
But naturally if you do this in a loop it'll cause severe performance issues, I'm doing it only when the browser is resized and debounced at 100ms

I asked Gemini how to recalculate the initial position of an element and reapply transforms while resizing the browser

You can force the browser to synchronously reflow by calling any of these APIs which I thought was not possbile until now

I feel like there needs to be tagging of translations in terms of status

same will happen to healthcare and law... we currently don't have enough specialists in either domain, and we never will, and that makes keeping you healthy and legally well protected extremely costly so most people don't have access to these services.

yep. That's how I see i18n improve now for example. Most translation is done by LLMs, then a proof-reader checks and fixes stuff. Allows humans to spend less time on chore work and get more code i18n'ed

yeah. It's like every human will get their own army of somewhat smart monkeys to do repetitive tasks for them, which is great!

conclusion: these types of posts give their authors exposure, and don't bring much value. They fuel their social media ratings with your fear.

I'd say there's a great chance very low demanding repetitive jobs could soon become paid less.
Also, I believe demand for highly educated and skilled people will only go up, since a lot of work will be created by flawed AI systems that have been given too much trust.
and since most LLMs are currently heavily subsidized by investors hoping for operating costs to go down, there's even a very real chance of a technological plateu.

I've never heard of this, so I looked it up and found the list of APIs that trigger a reflow
