To anybody who is not budgeting for an SSD.
I have recently picked up a pretty beefy laptop (Quadcore Haswell i7, 8GB RAM) for $80. The reason it was so cheap was that it was incredibly slow and the person just because it was an older (2013) laptop.After I gave it a clean reformat, it took 61 seconds from a cold boot to launching chrome, and overall it felt like garbage.I went to best buy and picked up the cheapest SSD, (a $50 120GB PNY), and threw it in the second bay and reinstalled Windows. Now from a cold boot to chrome, it is under 10 seconds and the laptop is just as fast as my gaming desktop.If you own a PC that is slow (especially a laptop with a 5.2K RPM drive), it is essential you upgrade that garbage to even the cheapest SSD you can get. I cannot emphasize how much an HDD as a boot drive can bottleneck your system.
