We are fighting to make it legal to bring back MMO's and Multiplayer games that have gone offline, AMA
In 2015, The Museum of Art and Digital Entertainment, working with the Electronic Frontier Foundation, won a DMCA exemption allowing for the circumvention of DRM for the purposes of playing and preserving “abandoned” video games that require online server validation. This exemption allows gamers and preservationists to restore access to games to that could not be played locally without a service-check.This year, we are asking the U.S. Copyright Office to expand this exemption to include multiplayer games and MMOs that have been end-of-lifed. Simply, we want the ability to bring dead games back online in a legal fashion if no other avenues for resuscitation exist. The MADE is now working with the Samuelson Law, Technology & Public Policy Clinic at UC-Berkeley to ask the Copyright Office for this important exemption. We're here to answer your questions, and to ask for your help to support our work. We're here to answer questions about the legal process around getting exemptions to DMCA, about the MADE and its preservation work, and about the laws governing our favorite pass-time: PC Gaming.10AM, PT We are answering questions now! The MADE also hosts free classes to teach kids how to program, events for members of the industry, and meetups for games enthusiasts. On Friday, for example, we have a Smash Bros. Melee tournament at 5 PM, and a Google Home Hackathon on Sat+Sun. If you would like to help, please submit a comment to the Copyright Office about why preserving abandoned video games is important! You can submit your comments here: http://ift.tt/2A1puY5People rarely comment on these types of filings with the Copyright Office, so if we flood them with comments they will REALLY take notice. You can make a major impact on whether or not we get this exemption, and your voice WILL be heard. They usually get, like, 5 comments per submission, so imagine if they had 100 supporting us! You have until December 15 to submit a letter of support. We want gamers to make themselves heard!

"We didn't allow Joe Camel to encourage your kids to smoke cigarettes , we shouldn't allow Star Wars to encourage your kids to gamble" Sean Quinlan - Hawaii State Rep.
Source VideoHoly shit, This is gravitationally huge. Not only is Episode 8 releasing within a month but theres been such negative press due to the Battlefront 2 Loot boxes. To have state legislators starting to comment on this and wanting stricter regulations with in-game purchases and comparing Star Wars with fucking Joe Camel is crazy.EA's greed has finally been the straw that broke the camels back. To use a game targeted at kids with one of the most influential IP's in our day and age, with ridiculous in game purchases which requires over $2000 to unlock everything... I can only imagine the damage control Disney is going to be dishing out over the next few weeks to appease parents over what's slowly become national news. EA might just lose the Star Wars IP, which fucking infuriates me as we've had now 2 studios ruined over Star Wars games(Visceral Games and now Respawn Entertainment, having been bought and reorganized by EA to work on an unannounced Star Wars IP.

The new chairman of the FCC was a top lawyer at Verizon. Now he's calling for a vote to kill net neutrality. We’re protesting at retail stores across the U.S. to demand that Congress stop Verizon’s puppet FCC from destroying the Internet as we know it.

Don't give in to ISPs.
If (god forbid) net neutrality dies, don't just sit back and pay for all the sites, STOP PAYING FOR INTERNET! I know it sounds crazy, but otherwise they win and there's nothing we can do about it. We need to let them know that they cannot own us and control us. GO PCMR!!!!!Edit: This only applies to Americans. For now.Edit edit: I was kidding about literally cutting off internet, it was more about not letting them own us
