PSA: To anyone who is thinking about buying Rust, buy it before February 8th. After that the price is going to increase from $19.99 to $34.99 as the game leaves early access.

I hope GeForce Now is a massive failure. Here's why.
I want to keep this civil. This is not a flame post and I am not looking to incite anyone. With that out of the way...GeForce Now is a move in the direction of "Licensed Use" and it will severely weaken the consumer's position in the market. Let's be very clear about the end game for all corporations right now that make a durable good: You shouldn't own that good. You should borrow it, for a time, and for a price that seems reasonable. Why? Because in the long-run, it will cost you far more than buying that good outright, and, you remove most of your rights as an owner. What are the benefits? Less up-front cost, lowered maintenance fees, reduced risk.Today: "Hey, come try out GeForce Now! You can game at high quality settings without having to buy an expensive graphics card." Tomorrow: "GeForce Now is only $30/month and includes priority access on Comcast's network. Get 4K 144Hz gaming and own the battlefield."This isn't just about gaming cards and it isn't just about PC gaming. But it will very much affect us all in the near future. If corporations have their way, you will own almost nothing. Your money will keep flowing out the door at about the rate it is now, but you'll have nothing to show for it, except "access" to all the things you have now. Cars, PCs, movies and games... No modding, no shutting off your expenses, unless you want to permanently say goodbye to all those things. It is a move to dystopia that I would like to see us avoid by voting with our wallets. Say no to GeForce Now.Tl;dr: If GeForce Now is successful, you won't be buying gaming computers in the future. You'll be renting access to them via your "PC", which will be nothing more than an access terminal to their services.
