Israeli groups called for expelling Palestinians and promoting Jewish resettlement in Gaza at the enclave’s border. Framing Palestinians as “obstacles to peace,” they claim security hinges on removing dissenters, celebrating the ongoing genocide and the occupation.

A tense six-hour confrontation took place at Republic of Korea (ROK) President Yoon Suk Yeol’s residence in Seoul as presidential guards prevented the arrest of the impeached president facing an arrest warrant over his brief declaration of martial law a month ago.

Hundreds of supporters of impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol have taken to the streets near his Seoul residence, clashing with police in an effort to prevent his arrest. Yoon, facing an arrest warrant over his brief martial law declaration, has vowed to “fight until the end.”
Yoon considers the arrest warrant “invalid” and is resisting arrest, urging his supporters to “fight together to protect this country from anti-state forces.” The situation remains tense, with uncertainty surrounding when and how police might attempt the arrest, especially given the presidential security service’s prior interference with investigators. The service had blocked access to Yoon’s office and official residence despite a search warrant.
The Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO), leading a joint investigation team that includes police and prosecutors, has until January 6 to execute the arrest warrant.

On this day in 1804, Haiti declared its independence after a slave uprising turned into a revolution that crushed the French colonizers.
After kicking out the French, the former colony was renamed “Haiti”, the Indigenous Arawak name for the island, and would become the first free Black republic in the world as well as the first nation in the Western Hemisphere that abolished slavery.
The independence of Haiti was a major blow to French colonialism and inspired revolutionaries around the world as one of the most successful slave revolutions in history.

A one-legged Palestinian, dressed as Santa Claus, spends New Year’s Eve trying to bring joy to children traumatized by the horrors of genocide.
In an interview with red. media, Omar Abu Hashem (age 26) said, “I hope that next year I can be Santa Claus in a place without destruction.”
Omar lost his leg in 2018 during the Great March of Return when Israeli gunfire struck those protesting at the Gaza apartheid fence.
Displaced from Rafah after Israeli forces leveled his home, Omar now lives in a tent in Al-Mawasi, where he makes ends meet by selling coffee and tea.

In June, Kenya experienced a large-scale mass uprising in response to an IMF-backed finance bill that would have raised the prices of basic necessities.
Police responded to the protest by firing tear gas and arresting 11 people, including an opposition politician.

🟡 Syria Update — Day 37:
🟡 For the first time since Assad’s fall, Germany’s and France’s foreign ministers touched down in Damascus—making them the first EU officials to meet with the new powerbrokers of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham.
🟡 On their agenda is also pressuring HTS leadership to block any Russian military bases in Syria. The Europeans’ diplomatic game also aims to return refugees to Syria. Meanwhile, German FM Baerbock arrived in Damascus wearing a bulletproof vest.
🟡 Syria’s new Ministry of Education has unveiled 12 new documents reshaping the country’s education system—pushing a religiously-driven worldview on what was once the Middle East’s most secular nation.
🟡 Israel launched fresh airstrikes on Syria, rocking the military base in Sifêra, east of Aleppo, with at least seven violent explosions echoing through the region.
🟡 The battle for Manbij rages on. The US-backed, Kurdish-led SDF continue to clash with the Turkish-controlled SNA, and it’s been nearly a month of relentless fighting.
Honduran President Xiomara Castro threatens to shut down US military bases in the Central American country. If US President-elect Donald Trump proceeds with mass deportations of Hondurans, the Cold War-era bases, operating rent-free for decades, may no longer have a reason to remain, Castro stated.

🟡 Military clashes have escalated between the SDF and the Turkish-controlled SNA in the highly contested region of Manbij.
🟡 Regions populated by the Alawite religious minority, like Khirbet al-Hammam, continue to suffer waves of violence. HTS has unleashed a hunt for remnants of Assad’s government.
🟡 A Syrian delegation, led by freshly appointed Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaybani, landed in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia—marking their first official trip abroad.
🟡 A new group calling itself the “Syrian Popular Resistance” has emerged, vowing attacks on HTS leaders in retaliation for the killings of religious minorities since the fall of Bashar al-Assad.

🟡 Syria Update — Day 34:
🟡 58,400 Syrian refugees have returned to Syria since December 8, predominantly from neighboring countries such as Lebanon, Jordan, and Türkiye. Some are also fleeing Syria out of fear of retaliation for serving in the Assad government or due to fear of discrimination by the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) administration.
🟡 Syria’s new rulers have installed foreign Jihadist fighters including Uyghurs, a Jordanian, and an Egyptian as leaders of the country’s armed forces as they try to unify the rebel groups into a professional military. The move increases concerns regarding discrimination and attacks against Syria’s large minority groups.
🟡 Germany will send €60 million ($62.5m) to Syria to further its influence in the country. All aid projects will be run through NGOs and UN aid agencies, not Syria’s new authorities.
🟡 The Pentagon emphasized that the ceasefire the US recently brokered between its NATO ally Türkiye and Kurdish partners in northern Syria is “still holding” despite reported clashes in the region.
🟡 Syria’s new foreign minister, Asaad Hassan al-Shibani, says he has accepted an invitation from Saudi Arabia to visit the country in what would be his first official foreign trip.
🟡 The new administration appointed Dr. Maysaa Sabrine as the first female head of Syria’s Central Bank.
🟡 Syria’s new government has formed a preparatory committee for the National Dialogue Conference in Syria, consisting of seven people, including a woman. On January 4 and 5 the conference will meet to discuss the country’s future after the collapse of the Assad government.
🟡 Ukraine’s foreign minister visited Damascus, promising more Ukrainian food aid for Syria. During the visit, the Syrian foreign minister called for close cooperation between the countries.
🟡 More than 1.7 million people across Syria have received bread assistance during the last month, according to UN reports.

For weeks, the Palestinian Authority (PA) security forces have been trying to crush the resistance in Jenin Refugee Camp. While the PA is allegedly supposed to protect Palestinians, their actions show the opposite is true. Using US and EU funds, the PA enforces the Israeli occupation.
Since the PA started the operation in Jenin, its forces have killed six Palestinians, including two children and one female journalist.
