Indian revolutionary and professor G.N. Saibaba passed away today. The cause was medical complications resulting from 10 years of imprisonment and torture under the fascist Indian government. Saibaba was a fierce advocate for all oppressed people, particularly the Adivasi.

In a major win for the Palestine solidarity movement, Cornell University has reversed the terms of international student MomodouTaal’s suspension. As a result, the British-Gambian student will not face removal from the US for participating in a protest against the Gaza genocide.
The university has previously garnered international condemnation for attempting to deport Momodou from the US due to his activism.
Targeted for his outspoken opposition to the ongoing war crimes committed against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, Momodou still faces restrictions designed to silence student dissent to the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.
Momodou remarked, “I don’t see this as a position of strength from their part but that they are losing the argument intellectually, morally, spiritually, and politically.”

Gaza medic clapped back at CNN’s propaganda around the “humanitarian crisis” in Gaza. Tanya Haj-Hassan is an emergency pediatric doctor who volunteered in Gaza. She stressed that the media’s framing has enabled and facilitated the current genocide of the Palestinian people, something that has proven true in all modern-day genocides.
There is already an established precedent for charging media outlets for their role in war crimes. In 2003, the International Criminal Tribunal (ICTR) for the genocide in Rwanda charged three media personalities for their complicity.
ICTR Judge Navi Pillay (who is now investigating Israel’s crimes) told them: “You were fully aware of the power of words, and you used the…medium of communication with the widest public reach to disseminate hatred and violence…Without a firearm, machete, or any physical weapon, you caused the death of thousands of innocent civilians.”

Violent protests have rocked the small Gulf state of Bahrain since Hassan Nasrallah was murdered by the Israeli occupation on September 27, 2024. The majority Shia island state of Bahrain is governed with an iron fist by the Sunni Al Khalifa dynasty, which is politically supported by Saudi Arabia. The country has long had a revolutionary underground movement of varying ideological foundations since the 1950s.

In France’s colony Martinique, protesters stormed the airport Aimé Césaire, forcing flights to be diverted and shutting down the island’s main gateway. Dozens of protesters stormed the tarmac, determined to block the imminent arrival of 300 CRS French anti-riot police. They are fueled by anger over the French government’s mishandling of the island’s economic crisis.
The prefecture only responded hours later to deny police deployment, which many activists viewed as a tactic to quell mass outrage. They also announced a curfew and a ban on demonstrations until Monday. However, unrest persists. Protesters continue to clash with police, setting radars ablaze during nighttime protests.
The unrest in Martinique coincides with rising tensions in New Caledonia, where Indigenous Kanak people have also recently engaged in protests against French colonial rule.

Students in Argentina are occupying almost all the major universities in the country to protest state attacks on education. The ultra-neoliberal President Javier Milei yesterday blocked new funding for universities.
Milei placed a veto on a law that would have increased university funding in line with inflation, which is currently at 240% under the libertarian government. This means that the current budget available to universities has suffered a giant devaluation.
The destruction of public education in Argentina has triggered mass protests across all sections of society. Even the traditional conservative parties are opposing this move by Milei. The right-wing ex-mayor of Buenos Aires, Horacio Larreta, joined the latest student march in the capital.

Israel continues its brutal attack on northern Gaza, isolating it from the rest of the Strip and forcibly displacing hundreds of thousands. Israeli occupation forces have ordered the evacuation of three hospitals in northern Gaza, exacerbating the already catastrophic situation.
This is not the first time hospitals in Gaza have warned of the imminent shutdown of their operations due to Israeli attacks and evacuation orders. Since the start of the genocide on October 7, the Israeli occupation army has deliberately targeted the health system throughout the Strip. They’ve conducted extensive raids on hospitals and clinics to kill and detain medical staff.

Intense escalations are sweeping Martinique as local communities mobilize against the rising cost of living. On Wednesday, protesters set several buildings on fire, including a police station. They erected barricades on major roads, resulting in significant disruptions to traffic across the island.
Clashes between protesters and French police forces continue as activists launch operation “île morte” (“dead island”). The campaign is a coordinated effort aimed at paralyzing the island’s economy to demand justice and an end to colonial oppression.
The protests reflect deep-seated grievances over rising living costs, exacerbated by police violence directed at local communities, particularly from the French CRS 8 police unit recently deployed to the region.
Martinique is a French colony located in the Caribbean. It faces unique economic challenges, including a significantly higher cost of living compared to France.

🟡 NEW: The UN’s Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) report that their positions have come under direct fire from advancing Israeli Merkava tanks and additional assaults. This morning, Merkava tanks shelled the high-profile UNIFIL headquarters in Naqoura, located in southern Lebanon. The attack resulted in several injured UNIFIL soldiers.
Earlier this week, Hezbollah issued a statement declaring they would not target Israeli forces hiding behind UN positions, accusing the Israeli occupation forces of using UNIFIL as a human shield. Previously, the IDF set up a “Forward Operating Base” right outside UNIFIL outpost 6-52, deep in southern Lebanon.
Despite Israeli military requests to vacate border bases, UNIFIL has refused to budge. The UN’s military vehicles, personnel, and bases are clearly marked—bright, unmistakable “symbols of neutrality”—which makes the repeated Israeli shelling hard to write off as mere “crossfire” in the ongoing war with Hezbollah.

Transport workers in Peru are on strike against a wave of crime that has exploded under the neoliberal coup government of Dina Boluarte. Protesters faced a brutal crackdown outside of Congress, and now union leaders say the strike will continue today and tomorrow.
Workers are routinely the target of robberies, extortion, and assault. The trigger for these protests is a new security law passed by the right-wing government that, instead of providing security for workers, is focused on criminalizing protests.
The current government in Peru was not democratically elected, a product of the coup against President Pedro Castillo in December 2022. The regime carried out numerous massacres in the Andean regions against Indigenous protesters who were calling for the return of democracy and freedom for Castillo.

A wave of nationwide protests against femicide has erupted across Türkiye. Protesters are demanding urgent action to stop the rising rate of femicide and condemning government inaction. The protests were sparked by the recent murders of two women, highlighting the ongoing crisis of gender-based violence in the country.
In the first eight months of 2024 alone, 261 women have been murdered in Türkiye, underscoring the country’s persistently high rates of violence against women. September saw 34 women killed, with 20 of them murdered by their husbands or boyfriends and three by relatives. At least 12 victims were killed over personal decisions such as seeking a divorce, rejecting reconciliation, or turning down marriage proposals or romantic relationships.
Many blame the ruling right-wing Justice and Development Party (AKP), headed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, for the rise in violence against women. They accuse it of protecting violent and abusive men by granting them impunity.
