In less than 24 hours, Israel has bombed a hospital and two schools in the Gaza Strip, killing dozens. A hefty 80% of those killed during the school bombings are said to have been children. Out of the at least 39,583 confirmed deaths from Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, around 16,000 are estimated to be children.
The Israeli military’s attack on the Al-Aqsa Hospital hit several tents housing displaced Palestinians, setting many of them on fire. The hospital in central Gaza was just recently flooded with a massive wave of displaced Palestinians as Israel ordered the forced displacement of tens of thousands across the enclave’s middle area.
The two UN-run schools targeted by Israeli airstrikes are located west of Gaza City, in the enclave’s north. At least 30 displaced Palestinians have been killed in the attacks, with rescuers still looking for survivors.

NOW: Bangladeshi protesters storm the residence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina after she fled the country for India in a military helicopter moments earlier. Yesterday, the deadliest day since the outbreak of the uprising, shook the country with almost 100 deaths.
As news of Hasina’s resignation spread, crowds poured into the streets of Dhaka for “victory celebrations,” openly defying the nationwide curfews that had previously been brutally enforced by police and military personnel.
The PM had a violent record responding to the student-led uprising, calling the protesters criminals and saboteurs. Hasina not only imposed the nationwide curfew but also cut off access to phones and the internet for weeks to crush the uprising.
Initially sparked months ago by anger over government job quotas, the protests quickly escalated into widespread unrest. This unrest evolved into a full-blown uprising against Hasina and her ruling Awami League party.

Anti-fascists have mobilized to push back far-right mobs wreaking havoc in the UK.
Anti-fascist counter-protesters, mostly from the local Muslim community, have come together in the town of Bolton, northern England, to defend the area from far-right groups who have been conducting pogroms, looting local stores, assaulting immigrants, and vandalizing mosques. Organized mainly by remnants of the “English Defence League (EDL),” a fascist group that was active 10 years ago.
More clashes are expected later today as violent pogroms from the far-right continue across England, triggered by fake news accusing Muslims of a stabbing in the town of Southport.

“Enough is enough” — say fascist hooligans leading mobs of people across the UK. In the wake of the stabbing attack on young children, right-wing conspiracy theorists stirred up a story of an asylum-seeking perpetrator, sparking mob violence and looting. Police have arrested at least 100 people.
Far-right leaders like Tommy Robinson and Nigel Farage have for years been peddling the narrative that migrants are responsible for the misery of the masses of people in order to turn away the blame from the British ruling elite.
These recent events represent the most violent outbreak of mass unrest in the UK in 13 years, when police murdered a Black man in London. Several counter protests are underway or are being planned.

On this day in 1983, Marxist revolutionary and Pan-Africanist Thomas Sankara became president of Burkina Faso, formerly known as Upper Volta, through a popularly supported coup. During his brief but transformative time in power, Sankara initiated sweeping social, ecological, and economic reforms, including significant land redistribution.
His presidency was marked by a strong anti-imperialist stance, challenging Western, particularly French, influence in Africa. Drawing inspiration from earlier Marxist revolutions in the Global South, Sankara believed in the potential of the armed forces to serve as a progressive force.
Sankara’s legacy continues to inspire those who seek radical change and independence from imperialist powers. Read on.

Did you know that Cuba is the most successful Latin American country at the Olympic games? They have more medals than any other despite having a population of just 11 million, 20 times smaller than Brazil.
This success came after the revolution democratized access to sports by rolling out a state plan providing free access to facilities and employing scores of professional coaches available to all.
The results of this can be seen by the fact that before the revolution, the country won just 12 medals between 1896 and 1960. All the gold medals were in fencing, a sport of the upper class. The rest of the country’s 259 medals came after the revolution, most of them in sports practiced by the working class such as boxing and wrestling.

WATCH OUR EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Palestinian Survivor Shares His Testimony About Israeli Torture Centers
red. media interviewed Fady Baker, a survivor of Sde Teiman torture center where all basic human rights are denied and the Israeli army enjoys experimenting new methods of torture.
As of today, Israel has not provided any information about the number of Palestinians held, their identities, their health status, whether they are alive or dead, or their location. Listen to Fady's voice and testimony, as torture survivors are crucial sources of information for documenting the systematic violence perpetrated by Israel.
During the week, Israeli settlers, accompanied by political and institutional representatives, stormed the Sde Teiman torture center to express their support and solidarity with Israeli soldiers accused of gang-raping a Palestinian man. The victim was hospitalized and is in critical condition, as the torture he suffered left him paralyzed.

Happy birthday to Black American revolutionary writer and activist James Baldwin, who was born on this day in 1924! A groundbreaking author from an LGBTQI+ background, Baldwin wrote about themes such as masculinity, sexuality, race, and class linked to the key political developments of his era, such as the civil rights and LGBTQI+ rights movements.
Disillusioned by the racism in US society, he sought refuge in Paris in 1948, where he lived until 1957 before returning to New York. He later returned to France in 1970. Watch him discuss the vile racism he experienced in the US that encouraged him to leave his homeland.

The US government has recognized Venezuelan opposition candidate, Edmundo González, as the winner of last week’s election. González obtained 44% of the vote as compared to 51% for Nicolás Maduro.
The announcement from the State Department is effectively the recognition of a second Juan Guaidó, five years after Trump first anointed him legitimacy. Though the US government does not refer to González as president, their declaration of his victory would automatically make him a president-elect in their eyes.
Mass marches are expected in Caracas tomorrow from both the Chavista social movements and the right-wing opposition. Both sides will flex their mobilizing power.
While the US has rejected the validity of the Venezuelan elections, other key players such as Spain, Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico are yet to do so. The coming week will be crucial for President Maduro in winning the support of the streets and of international partners.

The US, Japan, and the Republic of Korea have signed a trilateral treaty to increase military cooperation in what is beginning to resemble an Asian NATO.
The US State Department has announced an agreement between the countries for “information sharing, trilateral exercises, and defense exchange cooperation, to contribute to peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula, in the Indo-Pacific region, and beyond.” The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has said this effort is part of a wider attempt to build an “Asian NATO” and escalate conflict with China and in the Pacific more broadly.
This comes as the US also expands its security cooperation with Japan, which could include placing nuclear weapons in the only country that has been attacked by such weapons. The US could now use Japanese territory as their launching pad to deploy their weapons of mass destruction against the region.

The UK saw a third consecutive night of fascist violence in numerous towns and cities, mainly in the north of England. Some of the most shocking incidents included the raiding and torching of hotels where asylum seekers were being housed; this took place in the towns of Rotherham and Tamworth.
Police made little effort to stop mobs of far-right protesters from storming the hotels and firebombing them. Inside were numerous families waiting for their asylum cases to be processed.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer made a statement Sunday night promising to prosecute those responsible. Anti-fascist counter-protests also took place in numerous cities, with many blaming the mainstream media and politicians for fanning the flames of anti-migrant racism for years now.
The violence broke out after a fake news campaign on social media blamed Muslims for a stabbing incident in the town of Southport earlier last week.

Far-right riots have broken out across the UK. Racist mobs are vandalizing mosques, looting shops, and, in some cases, assaulting non-white individuals who were in the vicinity of the riots.
The violence is concentrated in the north of England, with Hull and Sunderland seeing the worst damage. These protests began after a stabbing of three children in the town of Southport earlier in the week. The identity of the killer was not initially released, but far-right groups and some within the media spread fake news claiming that a Muslim was responsible.
The courts have since published the attacker's identity, and it was revealed that he was a UK-born teenager from a religious Christian family of Rwandan descent, heavily involved in the local church.
Despite the news, attacks on Muslims and all immigrants continued on Friday and Saturday night. The protests were organized by disparate local groups on social media mostly linked to the fascist influencer Tommy Robinson.

Srebrenica’s Legacy: Western Complicity in Genocide
The Srebrenica genocide and the Balkan wars of the 1990s caught many by surprise. How could a country where various nations lived in relative peace end in such bloodshed—a country that was formed in the wake of and due to multi-national resistance to the Nazi occupation during World War II?
Yugoslavia touted itself as a socialist country for more than 46 years, but was it actually? Over its lifetime, wage inequality between managers and workers increased five-fold, while its foreign debt increased nine-fold. The resulting economic crisis and distrust in the communist leadership were exploited by right-wing nationalist groups.
To understand the break-up of Yugoslavia, we must delve into the history of the various nations and go beyond the surface level slogans of “Brotherhood and Unity.” Read our article to find out more.

Nigerians have taken to the streets against the decadent ruling elite and the crushing poverty they are enduring. State forces launched teargas, live bullets, and hot water at protesters. A curfew was implemented in the northern states of Kano and Yobe. Amnesty International reported that 13 protesters were killed and 300 were arrested.
The protests come on the heels of uprisings in Kenya and Uganda, who have protested similar issues. In Nigeria, food inflation is at 40% and according to the UN, 32 million people across Nigeria are starving. Nigerians cannot afford fuel despite the country being one of the largest oil exporting countries in the world.
10 days of protests have been organized under the slogan “End Bad Governance in Nigeria.” The organizers have stressed that these issues cut across ethnic, tribal, and religious lines, stating, “we are not slaves.”

red. media spoke to Dr. Muhammad Shaheen at the Al-Aqsa Hospital in central Gaza about the new polio epidemic that has been spreading in the enclave. Earlier this week, the enclave’s health ministry officially declared a polio epidemic after finding it in sewage samples. The ministry blamed Israel’s genocidal war for the spread of the deadly virus which was previously eradicated in Gaza.
With damaged and destroyed sewage and water systems due to Israeli attacks, sewage has spilled into the streets near overcrowded camps housing displaced Palestinians. Now, the already scarce drinking water supplies in the Gaza Strip are at risk of being contaminated by the virus.
The World Health Organization said it was sending more than one million polio vaccines to Gaza to be administered over the coming weeks, the lack of humanitarian access into and within the enclave raises concerns about the vaccines actually reaching people in need.
