NOW: The Berlin police brutally crack down on Palestine protests joined by thousands against the genocide in Gaza and Germany's complicity.
red. media is on the ground as police arrest scores of people demanding a full arms export ban to Israel.
Authorities deployed about 1,000 police officers to enforce strict restrictions. In Germany, even forming a triangle as a hand sign, a symbol of Palestinian resistance, is now criminalized.
A few hours earlier, similar scenes unfolded at another boycott sit-in in Berlin. The protest was violently dispersed, and several people were arrested.

Today marks 76 years since the British vessel Empire Windrush arrived with men and women from the Caribbean, the so-called Windrush generation, to help rebuild Britain after World War II. Unsurprisingly, the migrants faced racism, discrimination, and oppression. Not only that, Britain has been deporting these very same people back to its former colonies at an alarming rate in recent years. But did you know that the Empire Windrush vessel also carries a dark past with it? Read on.

Israel began their genocide in Gaza to “destroy Ha***.” Now, their military spokesman says it’s not possible.
Is this a split within the regime? Or an acknowledgement of weakness?

German police once again attacked a Palestine protest in Berlin. This time during a protest against one of Germany’s biggest companies, Siemens, which is profiting from Israel’s war and occupation. Police attacked and arrested protesters, including at least one minor and used dogs to intimidate protesters.
Since October 7, German police have steadily increased their oppression of people protesting for Palestine. This has included violence against minors and people with disabilities, sexual violence, and violence against journalists, lawyers, and paramedics.
Siemens lobbies on behalf of the European weapons and “border security” industry, directly benefiting from the border militarization it advocates and subsequently helps construct. It is also a major supplier of biometric software and other technologies used in border control systems across Europe.

“Nothing is left.” — Israel’s heavy bombardment across the Gaza Strip continues as more and more people flee southern Gaza to the central and northern parts of the enclave amid the Israeli military’s ongoing ground invasion of Rafah, the southernmost city.
As part of their latest atrocities, the Israeli military has conducted an attack in the vicinity of Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, causing a great deal of damage to the area, including an evacuation center that was previously an UNRWA school. This morning, they struck a civilian shelter for displaced Palestinians in an area of Khan Younis designated as a “humanitarian zone.”
Meanwhile, in northern Gaza, Israeli forces have carried out a deadly strike on a home, killing eight people in Gaza City’s Zeitoun neighborhood.

On this day in 1967, boxing legend Muhammad Ali was given a prison sentence for refusing to join the US military and fight in the Vietnam War. He was sentenced to five years behind bars and fined $10,000, an unusually harsh sentence aimed at breaking his anti-war resistance.
“Why should they ask me to put on a uniform and go 10,000 miles from home and drop bombs and bullets on Brown people in Vietnam while so-called Negro people in Louisville are treated like dogs?” argued Muhammad Ali.
In retrospect, Ali justified his decision with words that are more relevant today than ever as imperialist wars continue, “The government had a system where the rich man’s son went to college, and the poor man’s son went to war.”

Horrifying satellite images reveal the extent of destruction Israel has unleashed on the city of Rafah, the only city in the Gaza Strip that has yet to be fully invaded. The Israeli military continues to push deeper into the central and western parts of Rafah, destroying more residential buildings and pushing more people into internal displacement.
The images show the Al-Shaboura refugee camp in Rafah city before and after Israel launched its ground invasion of the southernmost city in the enclave. Before the invasion, Rafah housed more than 1.7 million displaced Palestinians. However, since the start of the invasion in May, more than one million are said to have fled the city, with only 65,000 remaining, according to the UN.
More than eight months into Israel’s war of extermination against the Gaza Strip, resistance fighters of Gaza’s ruling group remain active in combat tunnel networks in Rafah. The group continues to harass the invading Israeli forces, avoiding decisive battles.

Climate change activists broke into a major London airport and sprayed paint over private jets in an airfield where Taylor Swift’s plane had just landed.
A 2022 study listed Swift as the number one celebrity polluter with her total flight carbon emissions for that year coming in at 8,293.54 tons. Since then she continues to use her jet to pick up her boyfriend and fly between cities for concerts.
The Just Stop Oil activists targeted the Stansted airport airfield as part of their campaign demanding an emergency treaty to end fossil fuels by 2030.
A press release by the group highlighted that: “80% of the world’s population has never taken a flight. Just 1% of people cause 50% of global aviation emissions...A single flight in a private jet can easily emit as much carbon dioxide as the average annual carbon footprint for an EU citizen – 8.2 tons.”

Today marks Juneteenth, also known as “America's second Independence Day” as it signifies the end of slavery. But did it really? Echoes of bondage persist through the 13th Amendment of the US Constitution, which permits slavery as a punishment for crime.
This loophole ensnares a disproportionate number of Black people in incarceration, subjected to exploitative labor conditions for little to no pay. The disparities in imprisonment rates speak volumes about entrenched systemic oppression in the US.

Kenya’s police arrested hundreds during mass protests against crippling tax reforms in the capital Nairobi. Under the united rallying cry of “Occupy Parliament,” protesters tried to reach Parliament but were harshly pushed back by water cannons and tear gas.
President William Ruto made the first confessions and announced that he would abandon the tax reforms in their current form, which threatened Kenyans with double-digit increases on the most basic necessities like bread.
The government, which is strongly allied with the West, is probably afraid that scenes similar to the 2023 uprisings could repeat themselves, during which Kenya’s police killed at least 30 over several months.
The Communist Party of Kenya (CPK), also at the forefront of the mobilization, called Ruto an “imperialist puppet” who “has enriched the wealthy, sowed division, and perpetuated corruption.” The CPK, alongside other organizations, announced an “intensification” of the resistance.

Another night of relentless Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip has killed at least 24 people and injured 71 in the last 24 hours, according to the enclave’s health ministry. The latest casualties bring the total number of people killed in Gaza since October 7 to at least 37,396, with 85,523 wounded.
In the southern Gaza Strip, al-Mawasi camp was targeted with overnight artillery coupled with air attacks. The area was designated a “safe zone” by the invading Israeli military and the recent attacks targeted a tent camp housing displaced Palestinians.
Amidst Israel’s intensifying operations in southern Gaza’s Rafah city, more than one million people have already fled Rafah to the nearby areas of al-Mawasi, Deir al-Balah, and Khan Younis in recent weeks, according to Oxfam. More than half of those are reportedly residing in al-Mawasi.
At the same time, the UN said that there has been a “drastic deterioration” of aid flows to the south of Gaza in recent weeks.

Central Gaza has seen yet another bloody night as heavy Israeli bombardment targeted Nuseirat refugee camp. At least 17 people were killed in the attacks on homes accommodating displaced families who had recently evacuated from Rafah, with more people still trapped under the rubble.
Israel’s war of extermination against Gaza has already killed hundreds of family members from the same bloodline, an AP investigation revealed. Analysts reviewed 10 strikes throughout the enclave that resulted in over 500 fatalities. Nearly every Palestinian family has endured multiple losses, with several families being decimated in their entirety.
Meanwhile, Israeli air and ground operations in Rafah persist as Israeli negotiators warn that the war on Gaza will continue even after its invasion of Rafah comes to an end. This comes after Israel rejected the Palestinian resistance groups’ amendments to the UN-backed ceasefire proposal, which the Israeli government has yet to publicly back.

HAPPENING NOW: Masses of Palestine activists are staging a sit-in at one of Berlin’s largest shopping malls, calling for a “boycott of genocide enablers.” red. media is on the ground at the mega mall Alexa, which, with an average of 15 million visitors a year, has become a focal point for boycott protesters.
This protest focuses on the German giant company Siemens, which supplies technology and equipment for Israeli prison systems, among other things. Protesters hold signs with slogans such as “Capital is behind the occupation.”
The boycott protest comes amid new escalations by the German secret service against the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel. For the first time, BDS in Berlin is listed as a “suspected extremist case” by Germany’s domestic secret service.

Protests in Kenya have escalated after police forces used tear gas, strange-colored water cannons, and mounted police to disperse crowds. This week, powerful protests have dominated several parts of the country in response to President William Ruto’s planned suffocating tax reforms.
Ruto backtracked on his plans after the first wave of protests, stating that the reforms would not be implemented in their current form. Earlier proposals included double-digit tax increases on essential products such as bread.
However, protesters say that’s not enough and continue to mobilize on the streets, demanding that the tax reform discussion be completely abandoned in parliament.
Tuesday’s protest was largely peaceful, though police fired volleys of tear gas. At least 335 people were arrested. Amnesty Kenya expressed being “alarmed and outraged” by the “use of excessive force,” “intimidation of civilians,” and arbitrary arrests.

Chilean students took to the streets against the centrist government of Gabriel Boric to demand more funding for education. After rising to political fame due to being a student leader, Boric’s government is now turning the water cannons on the new generation of campus protesters.
Those marching say that Boric’s government has not invested in improving conditions on schools and campuses, the result has been poor infrastructure and low pay for staff.
The past couple of months has also seen campus occupations in solidarity with Palestine to demand that Boric cuts diplomatic relations with Israel which he has so far refused to do.

In the latest attack on Philippine sovereignty, China’s Coast Guard assaulted Philippine soldiers at the Second Thomas Shoal in the South China Sea. Left-wing Philippine political alliance Bayan views the incident as part of “an escalating inter-imperialist rivalry between the US and China.”
Chief of Staff of the Philippines Armed Forces General Romeo Brawner stated that Chinese Coast Guard personnel boarded Filipino boats with knives and spears, injuring one soldier and badly damaging the boats. The Philippine soldiers were resupplying sailors at Sierra Madre, which is within the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the Philippines, according to UN Conventions.
Bayan is calling for the peaceful resolution of the maritime dispute between the Philippines and China and demanding that both the US and China remove their military outposts from the region.

Yemen’s Ansarallah is believed to have sunk a second ship in the Red Sea as they continue their attacks on Israeli-linked vessels off Yemen’s coast amid unrelenting Israeli ground and aerial offensives in Gaza.
The group published footage of the attack, which occurred last week, showing the Greek-owned vessel Tutor being struck by missiles and an explosive-laden remote-controlled boat off the Red Sea port of Hodeidah.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations, which tracks commercial shipping in the crucial waterway, said that the vessel is “believed to have sunk.” If confirmed, the Tutor would be the second ship sunk by Ansarallah since the start of its operations in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea in November.
In response to the group’s attacks, the US and the UK have been bombing several locations across Yemen since the beginning of this year. Their latest attack was on Yemen’s Hodeidah International Airport, which was bombed six times on Monday.

Watch a UN investigator declare that “Israeli authorities are responsible for war crimes” and “crimes against humanity” in Gaza.
Navi Pillay told the UN Human Rights Council that her independent commission’s investigation found Israel guilty of sexual and gender based violence, forced starvation, extermination, murder and the inhumane and cruel treatment of Palestinians.
While Israel and its allies in the West continue to weaponize the thoroughly debunked claim that Israelis were subjected to “mass rape” on October 7, Pillay confirmed that Israeli forces have “targeted and subjected” Palestinian women, men and boys to sexual violence, including such that amounts to torture.
Where is the West’s “rules based order” for Palestinians?

Senior Israeli military officials approved “operational plans for an offensive in Lebanon” on late Tuesday night.
Earlier in the day, Israel launched another aerial bombardment in the town of Al-Borgholiya in southern Lebanon, which targeted residential buildings.
The attacks and announcement come a week after Lebanon’s Hezbollah attacked nine Israeli military sites with over 150 rockets and drones, the biggest attack since October 7.
Israel’s track record of going to war with the group is not in its favor. Out of the wars between Israel and Hezbollah, the latter has crushingly defeated Israel in both in 2000 and 2006.

At least 550 people died during this year’s Islamic Hajj Pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia due to extreme heat. However, Saudi Arabia denies heat-related deaths, with its health ministry stating that there were no significant heat-related deaths among this year’s pilgrims.
Videos circulating online show bodies lying in the streets without any medical assistance being given. Meanwhile, several countries have announced deaths among their own citizens.
In recent years, those performing the Hajj have been affected by climate change, as Mecca is one of the hottest places on earth. The most recent heat-related deaths indicate this trend is likely to continue in the coming decades.
The Saudi government has also faced criticism for not having a plan to address climate change impacts to and from the Hajj. Its 2030 Vision aims to increase the number of pilgrims to 30 million per year, a 10 million increase from pre-pandemic levels.
