The far-right Reform UK Party is projected to come in third place ahead of polls opening for the UK’s general election. Its leader, Nigel Farage, has long styled himself as a defender of the ordinary hard-working Brit. In reality, he is little more than a racist disciple of the greatest enemy of the British working class in modern history: Margaret Thatcher. In power, Farage would simply escalate the ruling class' war on working people.
Here is a summary of who Farage really is.

Anti-austerity protests have begun in Ecuador in what is likely to be a weeks or even months-long series of mass mobilizations. The trigger was the decision by the neoliberal Noboa government to cut all fuel subsidies, which will affect the price of public transport and food.
Ecuador’s largest union confederations have declared national mobilizations starting tomorrow. However, students and rank-and-file workers have begun the mobilizations early in the two largest cities, Quito and Guayaquil.
The last time that fuel subsidies were cut in Ecuador in 2019, on orders of the IMF, it triggered an Indigenous-led uprising that paralyzed the country for weeks. This time, the Indigenous confederation, CONAIE, has stated that they will join these mobilizations next week, stating, “The CONAIE will not protest for one or two hours, but rather until we get results, which is how we’ve always done it in this country.”

Violent anti-Syrian pogroms have broken out in several cities in Türkiye as crowds stormed onto the streets, damaging Syrian-owned property, including vehicles, shops, and houses, and hunting down Syrian residents throughout the night. At least 474 people were detained so far, according to Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.
The mass unrest originally began in Kayseri province in response to an allegation that a Syrian sexually assaulted a 7-year-old child. The riots quickly spread to other cities as xenophobic groups mobilized to attack Syrians, including many refugees, across the country.
Racist and anti-refugee, particularly anti-Syrian, violence in Türkiye has been on the rise for several years as the country delves ever deeper into economic crisis. Multiple anti-Syrian pogroms have taken place in recent years. With over three million Syrians residing in Türkiye, 62% of Syrian respondents recently polled reported not feeling safe in the country.

Violence intensifies in Haiti as Kenyan police begin operations in the country as part of the US-funded intervention against Haiti. A police station was raided on the outskirts of the capital as armed groups continued operating as normal without fear of the Kenyan intervention forces.
The issue of gang violence is the pretext used to justify the current intervention. However, the problem of gangs and armed groups is the result of the decades-long foreign destabilization of the country, particularly the rise in poverty and destruction of institutions that followed the 2004 US-backed coup against Aristide, the country’s first democratically elected president who also demanded reparations from the country’s former colonial power.

Happy birthday to the first democratically elected leader of today’s DR Congo, Patrice Lumumba. Black revolutionary Malcolm X once said, “Lumumba [is] the greatest Black man who ever walked the African continent. He didn’t fear anybody and had the people in power so scared they had to kill him.”
For his anti-imperialism and his vision of a united Congo, the CIA ordered his assassination but could not finish the job. The US and Belgium then covertly funneled cash & aid to rival politicians who organized a coup & arrested Lumumba, who was then beaten, tortured, and killed. Read on.

At least 39 were killed in anti-government riots in Kenya, almost twice the number previously reported by the government, according to the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights watchdog. Protests broke out again in the early hours of this morning despite a massive police presence and early tear gas shelling.
In addition, KNCHR warned that more than 360 were injured in the nationwide protests, 627 were arrested, and there were at least 32 cases of enforced or involuntary disappearances. The most severe crisis for President William Ruto enters the third consecutive week of mobilization on the streets.
After initially mobilizing against original tax hikes with the hashtag #OccupyParliament, the leaderless movement is now calling for #OccupyEverywhere, calling for Ruto to resign. Ruto, meanwhile, is sinking deeper into the dilemma between denying he has blood on his hands and deepening the state’s debt, saying Kenya would have to borrow an additional $7.6 billion.

This interview has ignited outrage across Kenya as President William Ruto responds seemingly clueless to a question about a 12-year-old boy who was fatally shot with eight bullets, allegedly fired by the police. The perplexed journalist clarified, “He’s dead,” when Ruto asked if the boy was alive.
Kennedy Onyango, who was murdered with overwhelming violence, was the youngest protester to lose his life during the uprising. He died before he could reach the hospital.
Ruto’s tone-deaf response has gone viral on Kenyan social media, revealing the president’s alienation from the brutal realities on the streets. Online, a wave of anger is mobilizing under the slogan “Occupy Everywhere,” calling for a massive protest on Tuesday, July 2.
Over the weekend, Kenya’s streets were awash with memorial marches for the more than 30 killed in the ongoing anti-government uprising. Despite the bloodshed, Ruto remains unyielding, declaring, “I have no blood on my hands.”

Local resistance forces have been putting up a fierce fight, confronting the invading forces with heavy bursts of gunfire and explosive devices as fighters continue to set up ambushes for the occupation forces and inflict injuries among them.
The assassination operation targeted fighter Saeed Izzat Jaber, one of the founders and most prominent leaders of the local resistance brigade. He was killed after the Israeli military fired missiles at a house he was in, in Tulkarem.
Just a few months back, Tulkarem, a center of resistance to Israeli occupation, witnessed the most destructive Israeli raid since the Second Intifada.

Of the nearly two million people in US prisons, 42% are Black even though Black people comprise only 14% of the US population. By comparison, 36% of prison inmates are white, even though they constitute 58% of the general population.

An Israeli airstrike targeting the Nur Shams refugee camp in the occupied West Bank has killed four. The latest attack on the refugee camp in Tulkarem governorate brings the number of Palestinians killed in the area in just the past 24 hours to at least six, including a woman and a child. Since October 7, at least 560 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank.
Local political parties have since announced a strike in the Tulkarem governorate to mourn the Palestinians killed during Israel’s raid. Just days prior, the Israeli military invaded Nur Shams, one of many epicenters of Palestinian resistance in the West Bank, resulting in fierce clashes between local resistance fighters and the invading forces.
Without being able to confirm, Israel alleges the four who were killed were associated with the local Tulkarem Brigades and that they were preparing improvised explosive devices.

Kenya’s protesters repeatedly overpowered police forces today, defying massive tear gas shelling. Rallying under the slogan “Occupy Everything,” they demanded President William Ruto’s resignation as the initial anti-tax hike protests swelled into a full-scale anti-government uprising.
Amid the turmoil, large-scale destruction unfolded, with cars frequently set ablaze at an unprecedented rate compared to previous protests. Social media buzzed with speculation about potential state-hired agitators infiltrating the demonstrators.
Ruto is caught between the IMF, which continues to push for neoliberal reforms, and the furious protesters, who, despite more than 39 deaths, are not getting tired and have now entered their third week of protests.

Yet another massive wave of enforced displacement is sweeping Gaza in the wake of Israel’s latest mass evacuation order, forcing 250,000 Palestinians to flee Khan Younis just weeks after people were forced to return to the devastated city. With no safe place to go to left, “fear and extreme anxiety” have gripped the people of Gaza’s second-largest city as Israel’s relentless attacks continue despite the forced displacement order.
Previously, more than one million people have been pushed from Rafah into the nearby areas of al-Mawasi, Deir al-Balah, and Khan Younis. More than half of those were said to reside in the al-Mawasi “safe zone,” which has been repeatedly bombed. Now, with the latest displacement order for the eastern parts of Khan Younis, residents are being pushed into the central and western parts of the city, including the largely unsafe al-Mawasi.

“Serbia is not for sale.” — Serbians protested once again against plans to open a lithium mine in Western Serbia. In 2022, after a mass upsurge, the government announced it was canceling the project. The movement called attention to the devastating environmental impacts of the mine and the government’s subservience to foreign multinationals.
However, as soon as public attention shifted, the government continued discussions with Anglo-Australian mining giant, Rio Tinto.
The Jadar valley in Serbia holds one of Europe’s largest deposits of lithium, which is used in electric vehicle battery production.
While mainstream media in the West frames these protesters as opposing the extraction of lithium, the struggle is much wider. Organizers have been calling attention to the neo-colonial nature of the Serbian state, serving foreign powers and multinational companies instead of the people.

Mass protests erupted in France in response to the far-right National Rally party, which is on the doorstep of taking power in the country. For the first time since World War II, a far-right force of this kind would come to power.
The National Rally (RN) secured 34% of the vote in the first round of snap elections, followed by a coalition led by the New Popular Front with 28%, which was formed to block an RN victory. The front consists of socialists, communists, greens and the Unbowed party.
Meanwhile, the party of President Emmanuel Macron, dubbed the “president of the rich,” received 20% of the vote. Now all eyes are on the second and decisive round of elections on July 7, in which the RN will try to secure an absolute majority to avoid a coalition.
Protests against the National Rally broke out in several parts of the country, with anti-fascist slogans being shouted. Several times there were clashes with the police who fired tear gas into the crowd to disperse the protests.

Did you know that socialist Cuba has a home ownership rate of 90%? Affordable housing should be an indelible human right that Western capitalist countries with growing homeless populations increasingly ignore.
Although US conservatives and liberals boast about how economically developed it is compared to Cuba, home ownership rates are declining, particularly amongst the Black population and younger generations.
Following the 1959 Cuban revolution, the government introduced a series of housing measures, resulting in an average 40% reduction in rents. Evictions were also made illegal, thousands of social housing units were built, and empty homes were given to those needing them.
As a result, the shanty towns that were a feature of Batista’s Cuba in the 1950s disappeared. Today, the number of homeless people in Cuba is close to zero, while nearly 600,000 people struggle to survive on the streets of US cities.

“Peace isn’t the answer. Liberation is the answer.” – On the birthday of Black revolutionary Kwame Ture, watch this iconic clapback, schooling a white person that “peace” merely serves as a demand of the oppressor, while “liberation” is the true solution.
This conversation was captured in the 1967 documentary “Tell Me Lies,” which explores the global response to the Vietnam War. At the time of its release, the docu was heavily attacked by imperialist advocates.
Ture’s words continue to resonate, especially in light of the ongoing annihilation war against Palestine, the unwavering resistance, and the reigniting discussion of liberation.
