Hundreds of fighters from various Palestinian resistance groups oversaw today’s handover of Israeli captives to the Red Cross in Gaza.
The heavy presence of fighters was a show of strength to both the Israeli occupation and the US, signaling that the resistance groups continue to hold authority over Gaza.
This display of power came shortly after President Donald Trump proposed plans for the US to seize control of Gaza and ethnically cleanse it of Palestinians.

The Israeli occupation has released images of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners dressed in dehumanizing uniforms.
Their clothing bears the Star of David along with the phrase “We will not forget or forgive” written in Arabic—a slogan often used by Palestinians in reference to the Nakba that began in 1948.
The first Palestinians in these uniforms have just been released in Ramallah after Palestinian resistance forces secured their freedom as part of the ceasefire agreement.

Scenes from Khan Younis, Gaza, this morning. Palestinian resistance factions handed over three Israeli captives to the Red Cross. This marks the sixth exchange under the ceasefire, carried out under intense pressure. Earlier, Hamas had announced plans to delay the release in response to Israel’s escalating attacks on the West Bank and repeated violations of the ceasefire agreements. US President Donald Trump warned that “all hell will break loose” in Gaza if Hamas didn’t free the captives today.

The protests marked only the first day of a multi-day strike that halted all air traffic in the country. Despite being in power for just 10 days, the government, led by Flemish nationalist Bart de Wever, faces mass unrest.

Trump just spoke with Putin and announced negotiations would begin—before even so much as speaking to Ukrainian President Zelensky. He also announced mutual visits would be arranged, and that he would welcome Putin to the White House (who still has an outstanding international arrest warrant out for him).

On this day in 1991, the US Air Force precision bombed a civil defense shelter in the Amiriyah neighborhood of Baghdad, Iraq, killing at least 408 civilians.
Throughout the US-led Gulf War air campaign, over 88,000 tons of bombs were dropped over Iraq in a matter of only five weeks, effectively bombing the Middle Eastern country back to the stone age.
Unfortunately, the bombing just marked the beginning of what would go on to be a series of countless war crimes committed by the US and its allies in Iraq, as a decade later, they would go on to invade and devastate the country for years to come.

A total of 333 freed prisoners will return to Gaza, while 24 are being deported to Egypt. Four of the freed Palestinians have been hospitalized due to critical health conditions, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent.
New statement from Hamas in response to US President Donald Trump's ethnic cleansing plans for Gaza:

Germany vowed “Never Again.” But when confronted with accusations of complicity in genocide, Olaf Scholz refused to even consider the question.
Asked whether Germany would be responsible if the ICJ ruled Israel was committing genocide, the chancellor dismissed the idea outright. “From a legal assessment, I believe that would be a false judgment,” he said, calling the accusations “absurd” and insisting, “it makes no sense to focus on this topic.”

Protests erupted in Beirut, Lebanon, near Rafic Hariri International Airport after the government denied landing permission to an Iranian flight.
The decision followed a claim by Avichay Adraee, the Israeli army’s Arabic spokesman, alleging on social media that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) “exploited civilian planes to smuggle funds allocated to arm Hezbollah.”
Protesters condemned US and Israeli pressure on Lebanon’s newly formed government. The Lebanese army attempted to forcibly clear blocked roads, sparking tense confrontations. Later, the Lebanese Civil Aviation Directorate announced plans to arrange a flight for Lebanese passengers stranded in Tehran.

For Black History Month, we remember Claudette Colvin, who, at the age of 15, was arrested in Montgomery, Alabama, for refusing to give up her seat to a white woman on a jam-packed, racially segregated bus. Colvin’s refusal occurred nine months before Rosa Parks’s famous action, which sparked the Civil Rights Movement.

Germany plans to deploy around 25 police officers to the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza as part of an EU mission, with some 15 more potentially sent to the West Bank. Notorious for ruthlessly cracking down on Palestinian voices at home, German police are now being sent to Palestine under the guise of “peacekeeping.”
“A security architecture must be created that prevents Hamas from regaining control of the Gaza Strip,” a government spokesperson said, emphasizing that both missions—in Gaza and the West Bank—serve this objective. However, the exact timing and size of Germany’s contribution remain to be decided.
Last month, the EU resumed its civilian mission at Rafah with personnel from Spain, Italy, and France to help secure the crossing. Meanwhile, the EUPOL COPPS mission in the West Bank aims to support the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) police force, also known for suppressing dissent against Israeli occupation.

Tensions on the Korean Peninsula continue to rise as inter-Korean relations worsen. The Republic of Korea (ROK) said that the DPRK has begun demolishing facilities used for reunions of families separated by the Korean War—the last remaining ROK-owned structures in the inter-Korean tourism zone and a key symbol of past cooperation.
The reunion center hosted family reunions since 2009, with the last such event held in 2018. The demolition is a result of the collapse of the 2019 Hanoi summit and years of worsening inter-Korean relations under far-right ROK President Yoon Suk Yeol thereafter.
While the ROK condemns the demolition as an “inhumane act”—framing it as a one-sided escalation—the DPRK’s policy shift comes amid a series of provocations from the ROK, not least including the increased conduction of unprecedented military drills aimed at constraining the DPRK.
