At least 90 Palestinians were killed and nearly 300 injured in one of the most deadly Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip in weeks. The Israeli strike targeted the designated “safe zone” of Al-Mawasi in Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
The UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) reported “horrific scenes” at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis following the attack. “Visiting the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis yesterday, I witnessed some of the most horrific scenes I have seen in my nine months in Gaza,” UNRWA said.
The Israeli army claimed that the attack on the “humanitarian zone” targeted senior Hamas commander Mohamed Deif and his deputy. “The Israeli allegations are nonsense and they aim to justify the horrifying massacre. All the martyrs are civilians and what happened was a grave escalation of the war of genocide, backed by the American support and world silence,” the group stated.

Four and a half years ago, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) imposed provisional measures directing Myanmar’s government to prevent all genocidal acts against its Rohingya minority. To this day, the UN has failed to uphold these same provisional measures. With war ravaging the country since the military coup in 2021, the Rohingya people’s situation has only worsened. What does the future hold for what some describe as the most persecuted minority in the world? Read on.

Happy birthday to José Buenaventura Durruti Dumange, a Spanish revolutionary, and anarcho-syndicalist militant who served in leading positions in the Spanish Revolution of 1936 and is remembered as a hero in the anarchist movement.
A mechanic in a railway yard in León, he joined the socialist UGT union and was involved in a 1917 strike that resulted in the Spanish Army murdering 70 workers. Buenaventura escaped to Paris before returning to Spain in 1920, settling in the Basque Country.
Here, he met local anarchists and helped form the anarchist militia group “The Avengers” in 1921. Buenaventura also spent time in Barcelona to organize anarchist workers during the dictatorship of Miguel Primo De Riveria.
An influential figure in the anarchist group FAI and the anarcho-syndicalist CNT union at the start of the Spanish Civil War, Buenaventura led resistance to the nationalist uprising. He also led 6,000 armed anarchists to Zaragoza but was tragically shot in Madrid in November 1936.

The lesser-known but no less dirty CIA covert war in Colombia, known as “Plan Colombia,” was launched 24 years ago today by former US President Bill Clinton. What followed was over a decade of brutal counterinsurgency warfare aimed at revolutionary forces, most notably the communist FARC guerrillas, in Colombia. The Colombian government was the most significant ally of US imperialism in Latin America at the time.

NATO’s summit will be remembered for Biden’s gaffes, but a long list of policies designed to escalate the inter-imperialist conflict into a new Cold War was set out.
While the summit was being convened, Russia hosted Indian Prime Minister Modi in a show of strength and lashed out over plans to place missiles in Germany. China came out swinging against NATO’s final declaration, and Taiwan detected a record number of Chinese warplanes.
The Summit was not a total show of unity. Hungarian leader Victor Orbán said that he opposes turning NATO into an “anti-China” bloc. The Prime Minister of Spain also called for NATO countries to show the same level of “unity and consistency” to Gaza in the same way they are backing Ukraine.

More than 120,000 Palestinians in Gaza City’s Shejaiya district are now homeless after Israel’s latest invasion destroyed 85% of all homes in the area. The eastern Gaza City neighborhood has effectively been rendered uninhabitable as Israeli forces left behind a devastating trail of destruction following their withdrawal.
As part of the Israeli military’s two-week-long invasion of Shejaiya, the invading forces systematically detonated thousands of buildings in the area. Tens of thousands of Palestinians were forced to flee the area and abandon their homes.
In addition to the destruction, civil defense forces have also recovered more than 60 bodies with dozens more still remaining under the rubble. “We do not have an accurate number,” the civil defense agency’s spokesperson said.
The humanitarian crisis unfolding in Shejaiya is only further exacerbated by Israel’s destruction of a medical clinic that provided health services to more than 60,000 Palestinians in the neighborhood.

Molotov cocktails rained down on government buildings in Albania’s capital, Tirana, in ongoing opposition-led protests sparked by an alleged corruption scandal reaching the highest levels of government. Protesters demand the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama, who denies the allegations.
For months, violent protests have regularly erupted in Tirana against alleged corruption scandals and links between high-level Albanian politicians and organized crime. The unrest is also driven by the Albanian right-wing opposition Democratic Party of Albania, one of the two main parties in Albania, alongside the Social Democratic Party of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
The turmoil started and is running in parallel with an Italy-Albania deal to take 36,000 migrants from Italy, which has met with outrage from the Albanian right wing. Italy’s influence in Albanian politics is seen by some as a continuation of its occupation of the country in the 20th century.

Indigenous Guatemalans are mobilizing against the centrist President Bernado Arévalo after having helped him to power earlier this year. Protesters’ complaints were over government failures to end land evictions, to tackle rural poverty, and enduring corruption.
Arévalo was helped to power thanks to mass protests by Indigenous communities against right-wing efforts to prevent him assuming office. The Indigenous candidate for the elections, Thelma Cabrera, had been banned from running in last year’s elections, so the Indigenous-majority lent their critical support to the liberal centrist Arévalo in the hopes of obtaining some reform. They are now disillusioned.
A statement from the main Indigenous organization, CODECA, said “We demand that the people of Guatemala benefit from subsidies, and not the transnational companies. We demand that government work with the people, not with the United States”.

Street fights broke out between the two rival factions within the Movement Towards Socialism (MAS) party in Bolivia. Supporters of Luis Arce and Evo Morales violently clashed outside the country’s electoral court as party leaders were inside discussing the procedures for next year’s presidential elections.
The two factions within the MAS have been locked in a factional fight over whether Arce or Morales get to be the official candidate of the party in 2025. Morales has accused Arce of betraying the socialist principles of the party, while Arce accuses Morales of working with the right-wing opposition to destabilize the government.

As the Israeli army’s deadly operations in Gaza City are set to continue, they have now ordered everyone in Gaza City, more than 300,000 people, to go south. Contrary to Israeli claims, no “safe routes” to the south remain amid continuing Israeli attacks.
Earlier this month, Andrea De Domenico, the head of the UN humanitarian agency in the occupied Palestinian territory, stated that it is impossible for Palestinians to safely travel between the north and south of the enclave, as it remains completely divided in two. Concurrently, Gaza’s Government Media Office reported that Palestinians attempting to pass through Israeli military checkpoints dividing Gaza have been executed or imprisoned.
With no safe place to go and fierce resistance in Gaza City, many Palestinians in northern Gaza are refusing to comply with the Israeli displacement orders, which Gaza’s Interior Ministry has described as a form of psychological warfare.

Trump can count on US evangelicals to back him in the elections, especially because of his extreme pro-Israel position. But did you know that many evangelicals’ love for zionism is actually driven by their anti-semitic beliefs about the “end times”?

Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have gained control of large parts of the eastern state of Sennar and are preparing to attack the Blue Nile state. This comes after they recently captured the city of Dinder. As the RSF continues to advance, people are fleeing in search of safety. Reports of looting and civilian attacks by the RSF continue to emerge.
The Sudan conflict has only gotten worse since it started in April 2023. Over 17,000 people have been killed since then, while 7.7 million people have been internally displaced and 16.4 million children alone are facing starvation.

Polish border guards opened fire against refugees at the Polish-Belarusian border. Video footage released by the armed guards themselves on TikTok shows the migrants fighting back by throwing stones at the heavily fortified border.
The Polish parliament has passed a law that will allow border guards to use military weapons against migrants. The Polish government claims that the law changes are necessary to secure the country and its eastern borders against the growing number of undocumented migrants.
The forests between Poland and Belarus are described as a “death zone” by refugee rights organizations, characterized by “extreme temperatures, dense forests and swamps.” Polish border guards said they had prevented almost 100,000 attempts to cross the border since 2021.

Since the outbreak of war in Sudan in April 2023, millions of people have been forcibly displaced inside and outside the country. Instead of providing safe passage and refuge, neighboring Egypt, supported by Europe, has engaged in the arrest and deportation of Sudanese refugees. This is how Europe continues to stain itself with blood by financing human rights violations.

Happy birthday to the Red Army sniper with the probably coldest quotes, Lyudmila Pavlichenko! With 309 confirmed kills, she was feared by the fascists and earned the nickname “Lady Death” – the most successful female sniper in history.
When the Nazis invaded the Soviet Union in 1941, Pavlichenko was in her fourth year of studies in Kyiv, which she abandoned to serve voluntarily in the Red Army. During the defense of Odessa in 1941, she eliminated 187 enemy troops in only two and a half months.
The higher the number of Pavlichenko’s confirmed kills rose, the more dangerous her operations became. This included counter-sniping or engaging in duels with enemy snipers. Pavlichenko won every sniper duel she fought without exception, passing away only in 1974 in Moscow, almost 30 years after the victory over Nazi Germany.
“The sooner the monster of fascism can be destroyed, the less blood will be shed—and that means your blood as well as ours.” — Lyudmila Pavlichenko.

Yesterday marked the start of the Srebrenica genocide in 1995 when Serbian forces massacred more than 8,000 Bosniaks to support their territorial claims in the region.
red. media spoke with Sedina Delictanović, who survived the Srebrenica genocide but lost her father, grandfather, and uncles. She explains why Srebrenica is considered a genocide: all Bosniaks were told to flee to Srebrenica for safety. Instead, they were massacred en masse.
She reflects on the current genocide in Palestine and reminds us that from Srebrenica to Gaza, we can only count on each other to stop injustice in the world. Those in power have no interest in doing so.

BREAKING: A student activist at Berlin’s Free University (FU) threw water in the face of their pro-Israel university president, Günter M. Ziegler, telling him to “wake up from your genocide”.
Since Ziegler called the police on his students in May this year, resulting in the most brutal eviction a pro-Palestine solidarity camp in Germany to date, FU has become the most notorious university in the German capital when it comes to repressing dissent against Germany’s role in Israel’s genocide.
Ziegler himself has also actively pushed a new law which enables to expulsion of pro-Palestine student activists, jeopardizing both students’ housing and residency in Germany.
Police are regularly on the FU campus with free rein to enter even autonomous student spaces, where they search for banners and other pro-Palestine activism related information.
A petition launched by FU activists demanding Ziegler’s resignation has over 2,500 signatures.

Republican youth in Northern Ireland’s city of Derry clashed with police, hurling Molotovs, fireworks, and stones at the security forces. Police accompanied by a phalanx of armored vehicles entered the Republican community of Creggan to conduct multiple raids following the discovery of a “suspicious device,” which the police declared to be an “elaborate hoax” designed to cause unrest.
Residents of the Republican stronghold however dismissed the claim that an “elaborate hoax” was behind the police incursion given the frequency at which police raid the community. They accuse the police of provoking trouble in Creggan as local children were visibly goaded into a response, resulting in the clashes.

Thousands of workers at Samsung Electronics, the world’s largest chip maker and Korea’s biggest company, have launched an indefinite strike. Originally planned as a three-day action, the strike has extended indefinitely after management refused to engage in talks with the workers.
So far, over 6,540 members of the National Samsung Electronics Union (NSEU), the largest union at Samsung Electronics, have participated in the strike. The union represents about 30,000 workers, or 24% of all Samsung employees. The union’s demands include a 5.6% basic pay raise for all members, a guaranteed day off on the union’s founding day, and compensation for economic losses due to the strike.
Despite Samsung’s claims that the strike has not impacted production, the union reports disruptions on chip lines and that some equipment is running slower.

“December 4 was unforgivable for me. They destroyed me this day. They put me in a black bag and danced on our dead bodies”—these were the words of Moazaz Obaiat who was released from an Israeli prison after nine months of detention. Suffering from severe deterioration in his mental and physical health caused by Israeli torture and medical neglect, Obaiat was hospitalized immediately upon his release.
Palestinians in Israeli prisons have been suffering brutal torture and conditions ordered by right-wing Israeli Minister of Interior Itamar Ben-Gvir. With international organizations like the Red Cross banned from visiting prisoners, Palestinian prisoners are being starved and are only allowed to eat a piece of bread and cheese.
The situation of prisoners in Gaza is even more horrific as they are being held in detention centers where they go through non-stop torture including rape. Israeli news outlet Haaretz found in an investigation that more than 27 prisoners have died as a result.

The Communist Party of India (Maoist) is charting a new course forward in its guerrilla zones for people of all religions.
red. media interviewed spokesperson Amrut about the party’s efforts to combat patriarchy, how the party was founded, and the current military offensives faces from the Indian government.

Three years ago today, one of the last Auschwitz survivors, communist Esther Béjarano, died at the age of 96. Thousands of anti-fascists attended her funeral in her hometown of Hamburg, Germany.
After her deportation to the Auschwitz death camp in 1943, Béjarano was forced by the Nazis to play the accordion in the girls’ orchestra. On May 3, 1945, in Lübz, Béjarano was liberated by the Soviet Red Army and US forces. They celebrated together: the soldiers set a portrait of Hitler on fire.
After the war, she moved first to Palestine and then, in 1960, to Hamburg, where she was active for decades against fascism. Béjarano was also known for her solidarity with the Palestinian liberation struggle.
Her later life was marked by her fight against the emergence of new fascist parties and movements in Germany, focusing primarily on young people, to whom she appealed: “You are not to blame for what happened, but you are guilty if you don’t care.”
