🟡 HAPPENING NOW: Watch the moment an Israeli captive kisses the forehead of Palestinian resistance fighters.
Earlier today, two captives were freed in Rafah, and now three more have been released in Gaza’s Nusereirat, with a sixth expected to be freed without any public ceremony. This brings the total to six Israeli captives released today as part of the exchange, in which 602 Palestinians held in Israeli jails are set to be freed.
The Republic of Korea’s BDS movement published a video of activists portraying the late Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar alongside the message: “Palestine will soon be liberated.” Sinwar died fighting the Israeli occupation forces in Gaza in October 2024.

Another mass burial has taken place in eastern DR Congo—this time in Bukavu, recently seized by Rwanda-backed M23 rebels. After weeks of fighting around the key city, the Red Cross has been collecting bodies for a mass grave, reporting that children are among the victims.
The M23 rebels captured Bukavu, the capital of South Kivu province, after the Congolese army withdrew amid reports of low morale and indiscipline. The UN has confirmed cases of summary execution of children by the M23 rebels after they entered the city.
The chaotic retreat and the rebels’ swift takeover of Goma and Bukavu—eastern DR Congo’s two major cities—have fueled fears of the country’s fragmentation, a regional war involving Uganda, and growing speculation in Kinshasa about a possible coup against President Felix Tshisekedi.

Venezuela has secured the release of all of their migrants that were being held by the US in Guantanamo Bay. 177 Venezuelan nationals arrived in Caracas a few hours ago, and US authorities have confirmed there are no longer any Venezuelan migrants in Guantanamo Bay anymore.
The terms of the deal have not been revealed by either side, but both have confirmed the arrival of 177 deported migrants from Guantanamo to their home country. Venezuelan Interior Minister, Diosdado Cabello, stated that most do not have a criminal background, and that anyone with an open criminal case will have it heard in local courts.
Donald Trump had begun deporting migrants to the Guantanamo Bay torture camp, claiming that they were all hardened criminals. However, US courts revealed that in some cases there was no evidence of criminal ties and blocked the deportation of numerous Venezuelan migrants to Guantanamo.

Not a single of Germany’s major parties—across the spectrum—offers a substantial alternative to Germany’s staunch support for Israel as elections approach. The country’s political landscape has fully aligned with the government’s infamous “Staatsräson”: unconditional support for Israel, even at the cost of genocide.
With Germany’s silencing of pro-Palestinian voices having reached unparalleled levels, no party dares to challenge the state’s rigid pro-Zionist line. Across the spectrum, from right to left, none recognize Israel as an apartheid state or call for sanctions against it.
Even the Left party, Germany’s most prominent leftist party, refuses to challenge the status quo—failing even to acknowledge the genocide in Gaza. German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock’s words, “[...] we are all Israelis,” seem to be more than just words.

Argentinian President Milei’s government sent police to repress the elderly protesting pension cuts yesterday in Buenos Aires. Police used pepper spray and baton charges against the retirees, resulting in several injured protesters.
The mobilizations have been ongoing for months and arose in response to a freeze on the state pension, worth just $190 per month. It continues to lose value amid soaring inflation. Other demands include the restoration of access to subsidized medicine for seniors, which has also been removed under Milei’s ultra-neoliberal government.

Читать полностью…🟡 BREAKING: Police violently beat protesters in Berlin during a demonstration marking five years since the far-right extremist attack in Hanau. Officers threw punches and made targeted arrests, escalating tensions and turning the memorial protest into a scene of state repression. Anti-fascist groups and pro-Palestinian voices gathered to honor the victims and stand against the very ideologies that led to the Hanau attack, only to be met with the same systemic violence they were protesting.
Five years ago, a right-wing extremist murdered nine people with migrant backgrounds in Hanau—a massacre that exposed Germany’s deep-rooted issues with racism and far-right violence.

On this day in 1942, then US President Franklin D. Roosevelt issued Executive Order 9066, forcibly relocating virtually all Japanese Americans to concentration camps for the simple crime of being of Japanese ancestry. Meanwhile, the US claimed to be fighting for “freedom” during WWII.
While one might think that this was done out of “military necessity,” Italians and Germans in the US were largely left alone. It was Asians who the US government perceived as an existential threat to “Western civilization,” not fascism.
Read on to learn more about this ugly chapter in the history of anti-Asian sentiment in the US.

The Trump administration has halted all funding to the Palestinian Authority (PA) security forces as part of a broader freeze on foreign aid, according to both US and Palestinian officials.
During Trump’s first term, Washington had cut direct aid to the authority but continued supporting trainings for the security forces. These programs are conducted through the United States Security Coordinator (USSC) for Israel and the Palestinian Authority.
The US is regarded as a significant contributor to PA initiatives, including security training, stated Brigadier General. Anwar Rajab, spokesman for the Palestinian security forces. Due to the funding freeze, some training programs have already been reduced, and officials are now seeking alternative donors.

82 years ago today, the Nazis beheaded Sophie Scholl, her brother Hans Scholl, and their friend Christoph Probst by guillotine for heroically resisting the Nazis as students in Germany.
The Scholls and friends grew up in a country that was rapidly falling under the grip of the Nazis. While studying in Munich, they quickly became involved in the resistance movement at their University.
Sophie Scholl, her brother Hans, and a group of like-minded students formed a non-violent, anti-Nazi resistance group called the White Rose. The group began spreading anti-Nazi propaganda and called on their fellow German citizens to join the struggle and demand an end to the war.
The Scholl siblings were eventually caught by the Gestapo on February 18, 1943, while distributing leaflets at the University. After a brief trial, Sophie, Hans, and Probst were found guilty of treason and sentenced to execution by guillotine on February 22, 1943.

Brendan 'Bik' McFarlane, a key Provisional IRA figure and planner of the Maze Prison escape, has died after a short illness. He is remembered for leading IRA prisoners during the 1981 hunger strike led by Bobby Sands and helping plan the 1983 Maze escape, the largest prison break of the conflict.
Born in Belfast in 1951, McFarlane joined the IRA in 1969 as violence intensified. Imprisoned in 1976 for an IRA operation targeting loyalists, he became Officer Commanding of IRA inmates, supporting prisoners during the hunger strike, where ten died protesting Britain’s refusal to grant political status. He called the H-Blocks the British government’s “breakers’ yard” for the Republican movement.
In 1983, McFarlane led 38 prisoners to freedom in a dramatic escape. Recaptured in 1986, he was released on parole in 1997. Post-release, he worked with ex-prisoner groups, campaigned for Irish unity, and performed with his band Tuan to promote the republican cause.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is seen inside a Palestinian family’s home in the Tulkarm refugee camp, West Bank, now occupied by Israeli soldiers. The house was forcibly evacuated and repurposed as a military barracks.
Since the launch of the Israeli military operation “Iron Wall” on January 21, several refugee camps have been nearly emptied of their residents. Now ongoing for a month, it is the longest operation in the occupied West Bank since the Second Intifada.
Initially targeting Jenin Camp, the operation has since expanded to Tulkarm, Nur Shams, and El Far’a refugee camps, displacing 40,000 Palestinian refugees.

Ivory Coast closed France’s last military base yesterday, but roughly 80 French soldiers are set to remain in the country. The French military says the troops will advise and train the Ivorian military.
Ivory Coast President Ouattara has been under increasing pressure to cut ties with the former colonial power. France has been expelled from several African countries, including Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso, Senegal, and Chad.
Analysts say Ivory Coast’s decision to close France’s military bases is also in preparation for presidential elections set to be held in October. Djibouti and Gabon are now the only two remaining African nations with French military bases.

Today, in Black History Month, we remember revolutionary leader and Black liberation icon Malcolm X, who was assassinated on this day in 1965. Listen to this speech where he debunks one of the key myths that underlie American exceptionalism and moralizing about the so-called superiority of their system and “separation of powers,” which in reality only exists for some.
To this day, his death remains a mystery as two of the three people who were convicted for his murder were exonerated in 2021 after the trial was revisited, after more than 20 years in prison each.
An estimated 30,000 people attended his funeral, including many prominent civil rights leaders and activists, a testament to his impact on the world. Despite his death, Malcolm X’s influence and legacy as a fearless and uncompromising leader in the struggle for Black liberation have made him an enduring symbol of resistance and defiance against oppression.

Neoliberal President Daniel Noboa has called for foreign troops to enter Ecuador just months before the presidential elections, where he faces off against leftist candidate Luisa González. The decision has sparked outrage, with opponents accusing him of using the crisis to tighten control and pave the way for foreign military bases.
Noboa argues the move is aimed at addressing cartel violence, but critics warn it threatens Ecuador’s sovereignty and could be a step toward consolidating his hold on power ahead of the elections.

At the 1872 presidential election, Douglass became the first ever Black American Vice presidential candidate for the Equal Rights Party.

Grenada’s Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell directly told EU Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen that the EU must pay slavery reparations to Carribean nations. He spoke at yesterday’s Caribbean Community (CARICOM) opening ceremony in Barbados, a forum for Carribean nations to meet and collaborate.
Mitchell told Von der Leyen that the EU should apologize and offer compensation for its role in the Transatlantic Slave Trade. Von der Leyen did not address reparations but denounced slavery in her speech.
Over 129,000 enslaved people were brought to Grenada during the European colonization of the island. Both the French and the British colonized Grenada and subjugated its people.

“We can always shoot them all afterward [...] Or gas them”—With Germany’s elections just days away and the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in second place in nationwide polls, let’s not forget the kind of people they employ. This recording exposes AfD official Christian Lüth openly stating what the party truly stands for—as far back as 2020.
Lüth, a self-described fascist and former AfD parliamentary spokesperson, was suspended when this clip surfaced in 2020. Yet, in 2024, he has quietly returned. Since June, reports indicate he has been working for AfD MP Jan Wenzel Schmidt—in the Bundestag, at the heart of the German state.
The AfD may “suspend” members to maintain appearances, but its MPs are free to hire whomever they please.

🟡 BREAKING: Palestinian resistance forces have handed over the bodies of four Israeli captives to the Red Cross. Abu Obaida, the Hamas spokesman, confirmed that all four captives were killed by Israeli bombings on the Gaza Strip. On each coffin, the resistance inscribed the name of the captive killed alongside the name of their killer: Benjamin Netanyahu.
The exchange took place on the eastern side of Khan Younis, a symbolic location for the Palestinian resistance, as it was a central position for Israeli ground forces during military operations in the city.
Banners on the stage display the number of Palestinians killed and wounded in Israel’s genocidal war, while another shows coffins draped in Israeli flags, bearing the message: “The return of war = The return of your prisoners in coffins.”

Today, in Black History Month, we remember what is often regarded as pan-African pioneer Kwame Nkrumah’s best-ever speech. “Unite or perish,” he famously warned, appealing to the heads of 31 other African states to come together to create a strong continental union. These are the famous words the first Ghanaian president uttered at the Organization of African Unity’s (OAU) founding summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 62 years ago.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock still appears to struggle with the question of bombing civilians. The answer is clearly stated in the Geneva Conventions, yet Baerbock seemingly has no idea what those are.
This isn’t the first time. Baerbock—a Green Party MP—has previously faced international criticism for declaring that Germany “won’t shy away” from helping Israel bomb “Hamas terrorists,” even in civilian areas.
The Geneva Conventions clearly prohibit the deliberate or indiscriminate attack on civilians and civilian objects, even if the area contained military objectives, but Germany does not seem to care about international law.
Germany’s unwavering support for the Israeli occupation is well known by now. Shockingly, with elections in Germany looming, nearly all major political parties remain united on one stance: unconditional support for Israel—even at the cost of genocide.

Today marks five years since a right-wing extremist shot and, in cold blood, murdered nine people with migrant backgrounds in the German town of Hanau.
In recent years, Germany’s far-right movement has seen a steady rise, with the AfD party on its way to becoming the country’s main opposition party. With a string of failures and inaction at the hands of the German government, the attack in Hanau serves as yet another example of its willful blindness in the right eye.
So read on to find out how the German state was and continues to be complicit in what some describe as the worst right-wing attack in Germany’s recent history.
