US and British airstrikes killed at least 16 civilians in Yemen and injured 35 others, according to local media.

The airstrikes come a day after Ansarallah shot down a US drone over Yemen's Marib province using a surface-to-air missile.

Earlier, Yemen's Ansarallah intensified its military operation against Israel and its allies in response to Israel's horrifying massacre in Rafah less than a week ago.

Ansarallah media said it targeted 10 ships affiliated with the US, UK, and Israel in the Red, Arabian, and Mediterranean seas, as well as the Indian Ocean.

Yemen's leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi stated that the "number of ships targeted since the beginning of the support operations for Gaza reached 129."

At the turn of the year, the US and UK began attacking Yemen after Ansarallah launched a naval blockade against Israel's access to the Red Sea. They continue to demand an end to the extermination war against Gaza.

The grip of Sudan's war on the town of El Fasher in the Darfur region tightens as the military standoff between the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and Sudan's armed forces rages on.

The first RSF offensives were repelled by the military, resulting in a days-long battle for El Fasher.

Some 18 million people across the country are facing hunger and five million are on the brink of famine. The World Food Program reported that 1,200 metric tons of food supplies for some 116,000 people are being transported to the Darfur region to ease the emergency.

Town after town has fallen into the hands of the RSF. The city of El Fasher is considered the last bastion of the Sudanese military in western Sudan.

The RSF's military advances are accompanied by ethnic cleansing against Sudan's non-Arab population, Human Rights Watch reports.

What’s behind Taiwan’s chaotic parliamentarian power struggle? Since the inauguration of President Lai Ching-te, political parties in Taiwan have been battling for influence. Their main difference is whose arms they want to run to: China’s or the US’.

The bills recently passed by the opposition parties significantly reduce presidential powers and bestow the legislature with additional authority. The passage of the bills was so controversial that a member of the Taiwanese parliament tried to run away with the bills during a session in order to prevent them from being passed.

US-Chinese tensions are running high regarding Taiwan. Beijing recently conducted large-scale military exercises around the island while US presidential candidate Donald Trump suggested that “he would have bombed [...] Beijing if [...] China invaded Taiwan.”

Indigenous-led mass protests joined by 100,000 participants erupted across New Zealand against anti-Māori reforms by the right-wing government under Prime Minister Christopher Luxon.

A proposed budget plan includes the removal of the Māori Health Authority and the renaming of some governmental departments from Māori to English.

The government is also considering slashing the 1840 Treaty of Waitangi, an agreement between the British colonial power and Māori chiefs that protects the rights of Indigenous people.

The Te Pāti Māori party has now issued what it says is a declaration of political independence. This will include the formation of a separate parliament for Māori if the reforms are implemented, as well as further mobilization and resistance.

New Zealand's first inhabitants, the Māori, make up almost one million people on the South Pacific island nation, which has a total population of five million.

The devastating power struggle for Sudan’s city of El Fasher in the Darfur region continues to escalate. Earlier, the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) launched a major offensive against the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in El Fasher, their last bastion in western Sudan.

Heavy RSF artillery fire and bombardments from SAF warplanes shook the town. Human Rights Watch has reported on widespread war crimes committed by the RSF against the ethnic Massalit and other non-Arab populations in Darfur.

The Doctors Without Borders-supported South Hospital has repeatedly been hit over the past few days. The hospital alone registered over 130 killed due to the El Fasher standoff. All three major medical facilities in the city have been damaged.

Around 2.3 million have fled to neighboring countries since the war broke out a little over a year ago. The United Nations reports that another 2.2 million people are internally displaced and warned that there is a growing risk of genocide in Darfur.

“Can you survive without water? There is nothing left, except for water and a small amount of air.” Displaced people in Deir al-Balah in the Gaza strip gathered at a seawater desalination plant in to collect drinking water, as the city faces an influx of refugees evacuating from Rafah. The desalination plant, crowded with locals waiting for their turn to collect drinking water, is barely functioning due to the shortage of fuel.

Before October 7, the average per capita water consumption in the enclave was approximately 84.6 liters daily in 2022, compared to over 150 liters per capita daily in Israel, according to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) and the Palestinian Water Authority (PWA).

Several European countries’ decision to recognize Palestinian statehood, including Norway, Spain, and Ireland, are now effective. While the US and its allies are busy blocking the UN from recognizing and granting full membership to Palestine, the vast majority of the international community, 144 of the 193 UN member states, already recognizes Palestine as a state.

As international pressure on Israel and its allies grows amid its war of extermination against Gaza, along with the ICC’s request for arrest warrants for top Israeli politicians, countries all over the world are pushing for the recognition of Palestine and an end to Israel’s crimes.

In response, Israel pulled its ambassadors from Oslo, Madrid, and Dublin as Israel becomes increasingly isolated on the international stage. It also blocked Spain from providing consular services to Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and accused Spain of helping the Gaza ruling group.

The ICC has been asked to investigate the EU’s Ursula von der Leyen over complicity in Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Our verdict 👆

The Geneva International Peace Research Institute (GIPRI) filed a claim on May 22, stating that “there are reasonable grounds to believe that the current president of the European Commission […] is complicit in several violations of international humanitarian law, amounting to crimes within the jurisdiction of the ICC.”

The claim has shone a light on the European Union’s support for Israel despite clear evidence of war crimes and other abuses. The petitioners contend that von der Leyen’s leadership position makes her accountable for the EU’s policies and actions and their impact in Gaza.

Von der Leyen has numerous statements in support of the Israeli government during their war on Gaza, and her native Germany is responsible for almost half of all weapons imported by the occupying government.

Soup kitchen organizers in Argentina held a protest to denounce the government's cuts to their food banks.

Under the last government, social movements were given budgets and food supplies to organize soup kitchens in working-class neighborhoods. However, since "libertarian" President Javier Milei took power, that program has been abolished and the soup kitchens are now empty.

The Milei government still has warehouses with food supplies left over from the last government but is refusing to hand them over to the organizers. In fact, the government is pressing charges against some groups, such as "Polo Obrero," for having received government money to distribute food.

Milei's free-market agenda has left the country with an annual inflation rate of 287%, the highest of any country worldwide. Poverty has risen to 55%, up from 41% when he took office.

There are more foreign troops in Africa than during colonization, says Senegalese diplomat Abdoulaye Bathily.

Despite achieving nominal independence, he says, Africa continues to be reliant on foreign powers politically, economically, and militarily. These so-called “partners,” like the US, European Union, China, and Russia, have for decades claimed they are interested in “helping Africa develop.” Yet people in Africa remain starving, their lands depleted, and the environment polluted.

Bathily names the comprador bourgeoisie as a key enabler of these neo-colonial relationships. They are more than happy to sell out the people and line their own pockets. He also points out that many African countries are a sight of inter-imperialist struggle between foreign powers.

To achieve true liberation, Bathily emphasizes the need for Africa to break these colonial ties and chart a new course forward.

German police continue to crack down on protests against Israel’s crimes in Gaza. Yesterday, police officers again brutally attacked a protest in the capital of Germany. Several protesters were beaten and arrested, and some of them needed medical aid due to the police’s brutality during their arrests. At least one ambulance arrived on the scene to treat a protester.

An activist told red. media that some protesters were severely beaten. Others that were arrested were not taken to the police station but instead released in another location, a practice that has occurred several times as of late. The activist also mentioned that many officers removed their identification numbers in order to avoid being identified for their violence and brutality.

In recent weeks, red-clad crowds have taken to South Africa’s streets. Julius Malema’s self-described Marxist-Leninist Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party has been holding rallies in the lead up to one of the country's most contested elections since the fall of apartheid.
Since then, the legacy of racial and economic inequality has plagued the country. High levels of unemployment, power cuts, water shortages, and violent crime have seen a loss of faith in the ruling African National Congress . As parties like the EFF gain momentum, experts say the African National Congress may lose its majority for the first time since Nelson Mandela’s leadership.

Yesterday, pro-Palestine protesters attempted to storm the Israeli embassy in Mexico City. While shouting "Netanyahu, murderer!" a group of activists braved the tear gas from local police and tried to break through barriers protecting the Israeli embassy.

With just a few days until the presidential elections this Sunday, President AMLO has come under pressure for his refusal to break relations with Israel and failure to recognize a Palestinian state formally. However, the government announced yesterday that it would endorse South Africa's case against Israel at the International Court of Justice.

Peruvian fishing communities are fighting back against US oil company Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, a Texas-based firm that is set to start drilling for oil on the edge of Peru's northern coast.

Fishing communities in the area say that drilling will destroy their livelihoods, as the sea will become contaminated, poisoning the environment that they depend on for their work.

The Ministry of Energy of Peru's US-backed coup government has already given the green-light to the US corporation. However, unions and local authorities are still mobilizing to resist the project.

Armenian authorities detained at least 273 anti-government protesters in the country’s capital, Yerevan. Hundreds of protesters took to the streets across country in the South Caucasus, blocking roads as part of a “nationwide campaign of disobedience” to demand the Prime Minister’s resignation.

The protests, which have been shaking Armenia for several weeks now, come as the government cedes border areas in the Tavush region to its neighbor and longtime adversary, Azerbaijan.

The move by the Armenian government followed the departure of nearly 2,000 Russian peacekeeping soldiers from in and around the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region, which Azerbaijan took over by force in September of last year.

Azerbaijan’s takeover has since resulted in the exodus of 100,000 ethnic Armenians and the destruction of Armenian cultural heritage in the affected region. Many Armenians view the move as a threat to Armenia’s territorial integrity and security.

Meet the mastermind behind one of the most famous bank robberies in history. Simon Ter-Petrosyan, also known by his party nickname “Kamo,” was born on this day in 1882. Together with Joseph Stalin, Kamo was one of the most important Caucasian communist revolutionaries of the early 20th century.

His Russian tutor and fellow countryman, who would later be known as Stalin, introduced him to the basics of Marxism and Marxist literature. In 1901, Kamo joined the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party (RSDLP), quickly becoming an organizer of underground printing houses, expropriations, and the delivery of propaganda literature and weapons from abroad.

Kamo’s biggest feat, however, was undoubtedly the world-famous Tbilisi Bank Robbery in 1907. With Kamo as the head of the operation, the Bolshevik revolutionaries were able to expropriate 341,000 rubles, amounting to several million dollars today, as they were preparing their revolution, which would change history forever.
