“It is so important not to be used, as the queer community, to wash the genocide that has been conducted by the Israeli forces in Gaza.”
Tel Aviv Pride March: A day of rainbow flags, colourful parades, and the pinkwashing of Israeli war crimes.
And standing firmly against Israel’s pink washing narrative, is “Queers for Palestine.” This intersectional movement is gaining global momentum as it fights Israel’s erasure of queer Palestian voices, as well as the ongoing occupation and genocide in Gaza.
Despite being dismissed by out-of-touch, conservative media pundits as a “chickens for KFC” movement, Queers for Palestine has maintained a powerful presence at Palestinian protests and among the LGBTQI+ community worldwide.
Hasan Kilani is a queer Palestinian activist with “Queers for Palestine.” He explains the hypocrisy of Tel Aviv’s June pride march and how he is using his voice to fight back.

Israel’s threats to launch a full-scale military invasion against Lebanon-based resistance groups appear closer than ever to materialise. But did you know that this is far from the first time Israel has invaded Lebanon militarily?
Today marks the 42nd anniversary of the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, also known as the First Lebanon War. The invasion aimed to weaken the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and shift the balance of the Lebanese Civil War in Israel’s favor.
The occupation of parts of Southern Lebanon lasted until 2000. One of the most infamous moments was the Sabra and Shatila massacre, during which over 3,000 Palestinian civilians were killed.
The war led to the Palestinian liberation movement moving their headquarters back to their home territory. Around 76,000 Israeli troops were deployed, and estimates suggest that between 17,000 and 19,000 Lebanese, Palestinians, and Syrians lost their lives.

Students at Stanford University in the US broke into and occupied the office of President Richard Saller, demanding immediate divestment from Israel. 75% of the student body voted in favor of divestment, yet university authorities have refused to listen.
Students successfully seized the office, but local police were called to break in and arrest 13 students. Student protests for Palestine are still raging across campuses despite many school terms having finished. Protesters have found other ways to express themselves, such as using graduation ceremonies to display Palestinian keffiyehs and wave Palestinian flags.

Escalation along the Israel-Lebanon border is approaching a full-scale war between Israel and H3zb0ll@h. The Israeli military recently carried out intense bombardment and shelling of villages and towns in southern Lebanon. The escalatory bombing follows a drone attack by H3zb0ll@h that killed at least one Israeli soldier.
In the last few days, some Israeli politicians have called for the restoration of deterrence against H3zb0ll@h. The looming war seems to be closer than ever, as the Israeli military mobilized 50,000 reservists and called for 300,000 more to be ready by the end of August.

Happy Birthday, Pancho Villa! A legendary leader of the Mexican Revolution who fought against both the old oligarchy and the bourgeois liberal leaders that took power after the initial revolutionary victory. Jewish settlers attacked Palestinians in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem as they marched through the streets to celebrate the occupation of the city back in 1967. Several Israeli politicians and ministers took part in the march. The march takes place every year and is always marked by attacks on journalists, racist chants and slogans calling for the death of Arabs, and religious slurs.
This year's march comes as Israel faces international criticism over its war crimes in Gaza and regarding its extremist right-wing government.

"We want to live without hunger and with rights" is the slogan of feminist and LGBTQI+ movements in Argentina. The groups held a march against austerity with workers' unions joining in solidarity.
The march was part of Pride month and occurred as the Congress of Argentina was voting on parts of Javier Milei's austerity plan, during which the Chamber of Deputies voted to reject partially.
Protesters linked Milei's austerity plans with the increased suffering of women and LGBTQIA communities. Also prominent were tributes to three lesbian women who were murdered last month in the Barracas district of Buenos Aires.

Serbia’s elections reflect splits within the imperialist system.
As is the case in smaller, oppressed countries, the elections in Serbia represented a false choice to voters. While all political parties market themselves as serving the national interest of Serbia, they really just represent competing imperialist interests in the region.
The ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) likes to speak of a so-called “neutrality” regarding geopolitical power struggles. For this reason, it justified abstaining from imposing sanctions on Russia after its invasion of Ukraine.
In reality, it has been playing all sides in a bid to advance its interests as the comprador bourgeoisie. But imperialists are not well known for their ability to share the spoils with their competitors. So, how much longer will the Serbian government be allowed to continue this charade?

“I don’t know how you’ve got the guts to come to this city” – Watch this working class woman from Liverpool tear into Labour Party leader Keir Starmer.
Audrey White left Starmer stunned during his visit to her city in the wake of his racist election pledge to crackdown on immigration, which he announced to none other than the right wing The Sun newspaper.
The entire city of Liverpool has boycotted that paper since the Hillsborough disaster in 1989.

Happy 93rd birthday to the Cuban revolutionary icon, Raúl Castro! From a guerrilla fighter in the early days of the Cuban Revolution to the presidential successor to his brother and comrade, Fidel Castro, Raúl is among the most influential in communist history.
Raul, a rebellious student, turned to Marxism-Leninism while in exile in Mexico with his friend Che Guevara. Shortly afterward, he fearlessly led a guerrilla fight in Cuba against the troops of the US-backed dictator Batista.
Raúl can be credited with an earlier commitment to socialism when compared to his brother Fidel, who initially leaned more nationalist in his politics.
Following the revolution’s victory, he modernized Cuba’s “Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias” into the most modern army in Latin America. At the time, Raúl became the youngest defense minister in the world.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Raúl Castro played a crucial role in ensuring Cuba’s survival.

Did you know the Bolsheviks decriminalized homosexuality immediately after the October Revolution in 1917?
While some historians try to dismiss the legalization after the victory over the Tsar as an “accident,” the Soviets insisted on the legalization of homosexuality when they revised the Penal Code in 1926.

Yet another massacre has been committed in Sudan as a paramilitary attack on a central Sudanese village killed up to 100 people. The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) attacked the town of Wad al-Noura, causing widespread displacement and dozens of casualties.
The Wad Madani resistance committee said that “up to 100 people were killed.” However, they are still awaiting “a confirmed toll of the dead and injured.” Meanwhile, footage shows rows of white shrouds laid out in what appears to be a mass grave.
Fighting between the RSF and the Sudanese military spread across Sudan just a little over a year ago, with recent estimates by the UN saying that the conflict has caused 15,550 casualties and the displacement of over 8.8 million people.

Unrest and protests erupted in the city of Hakkari in the Kurdish populated area of Türkiye after the Turkish state arrested the elected co-mayor of the left-wing Kurdish DEM party.
In a fast-tracked trial, Mehmet Sıddık Akış was sentenced to almost 20 years in prison just two days after his arrest. Authorities used massive police violence, pepper spray, and water cannons against protests that developed against the arrest.
The DEM party called the arrest a coup d'état. In the previous regional elections held at the end of March, the AKP party of ruling President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan lost many areas to opposition parties. Large parts of the east, the Kurdish regions, were won by the DEM party.
Similar strategies to disempower pro-Kurdish politicians shook Türkiye in March 2024, when the Turkish government tried to replace the elected DEM party mayor in the city of Van with an AKP politician. A subsequent uprising prevented this.

On World Environment Day, here are some facts mainstream media will likely ignore. Contrary to the usual narrative, the Global North is the biggest polluter, responsible for 92% of excess CO2 emissions since 1750. The US has been responsible for a staggering 25% of historical emissions since 1750, while the Global South, effectively half the world, has only been responsible for 8%.
However, the Global South is likely to suffer much more from climate change than the Global North. For example, it is estimated that in sub-Saharan Africa as many as 86 million people could be displaced by climate change by 2050, and 19 million in North Africa. Read on.

The raging war in Sudan has triggered a mass exodus from the fiercely contested town of El Fasher, which was once home to 2.8 million people.
The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces have launched a major offensive against Sudan’s armed forces, with El Fasher being the last stronghold in the Darfur region in western Sudan. The RSF, after months of mobilization, is striving to capture the strategic region since May.
They have engaged in discussions with representatives of the African Union to explore the possibility of peace. Simultaneously, the US has begun to exert pressure on the Sudanese military to bring an end to the fighting.
The crisis is exacerbated by a spreading famine, with 18 million people now facing hunger and food insecurity. The Sudanese Health Ministry has responded by air-dropping 20 tons of life-saving medicines in El Fasher.
Recent estimates by the UN say that the conflict has caused 15,550 casualties and the displacement of over 8.8 million people across Sudan.

Today Palestinians mark 57 years since the Naksa, which means “setback” or "defeat" in Arabic. The event refers to Israel’s occupation of the remaining 22% of Palestine that they could not initially occupy during the Nakba of 1948. The Naksa set the stage for Israel's ongoing military occupation and apartheid systems of today.
The decades of impunity and unconditional western support of Israel continues today as Israel is waging its genocidal war in Gaza.

“The economic power continues to rest in the hands of the white people.” — Listen to former African Union Ambassador to the US, Dr. Arikana Chihombori-Quao, as she reflects on South Africa’s elections and how the leading ANC party has lost the country’s confidence.
As the ANC now faces the dilemma of choosing a coalition partner, Chihombori-Quao warns that joining forces with the Democratic Alliance party “would be their demise.”
The white-led Democratic Alliance (DA) is a proponent of neoliberalism and remains the second-largest party in parliament. Two other contenders for a coalition are the new MK party, led by ex-President Jacob Zuma, and the Marxist-Leninist EFF party, led by Julius Malema.

India’s far-right BJP is leading in the polls as the South Asian country counts the votes of the largest-ever election in history. However, the BJP could still fall short of a majority as the united opposition led by the Indian National Congress makes gains.
The BJP, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been at the helm of the country for a total of 16 years. During their rule, the party’s policies have had a profound impact, turning the country into a living nightmare for many.
Exit polls suggest Modi could return to power for a third consecutive term. Does this mean darker days lie ahead?

While on the phone with the Israeli occupation forces, a Palestinian man watched his home get bombed before the call even ended. Israel is currently intensifying its bombardment of southern and central Gaza.
The deadly strikes targeted residential buildings of the Bureij refugee camp, located in central Gaza, along with other areas. At least 71 people were killed and 182 were injured.
As the bombing and siege continue, UNRWA has said that there is almost no fuel left in Gaza and that all critical desalination plants have shut down. People don’t have enough water as Israel is blocking all aid from entering Gaza.
