Mexico will ban any unauthorized intelligence gathering from foreign countries in a new constitutional reform. US agents, from the DEA, to the CIA, have long had a large presence in Mexico, and much of their work is under the veil of secrecy.
The move comes as a response to the Trump administration’s designation of cartels as terrorist organizations, which many fear is a prelude to a military attack. US intelligence gathering that claims to surveil cartels could be a cover for other interventionist projects.

Today, for Black History Month, we remember legendary South African socialist Steve Biko.
Born in the Eastern Cape in December 1946, Biko was raised in a township and, in 1966, secured a scholarship to study at the University of Natal Medical School. Initially, Biko became active in the moderate Union of South African Students (NUSAS) before founding the all-Black South African Students’ Organization (SASO).
SASO was based on Black consciousness, encouraging Black people to recognize their dignity and self-worth. As the concept of Black consciousness spread across South African universities, Biko became part of the Black People’s Convention, an umbrella organization for Black consciousness groups, in 1972.
On August 18, 1977, Biko and his friend Peter Jones were seized at a roadblock and jailed in Port Elizabeth. On September 11, he was driven 1,190 km to a prison hospital in Pretoria, where he tragically died the following day, aged only 30

🟡 NOW: Massive Crowds Gather in Beirut for Nasrallah and Safieddine’s Funeral Procession while Israel launches airstrikes on southern Lebanon.
People have converged on Beirut’s Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium for the funeral of Hezbollah leaders Hassan Nasrallah and Hashem Safieddine. Crowds from across Lebanon began arriving overnight, with many camping outside to secure a spot at the ceremony.
The funeral procession is set to begin at 1:00 PM local time, with the coffins of both leaders transported in a specially designed vehicle. Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem is expected to address the crowd before the procession continues toward Nasrallah’s final resting place in Beirut’s southern suburbs.
Official delegations from 79 countries are taking part in both formal and public capacities, according to the organizing committee. This morning Israeli warplanes launched a series of airstrikes targeting Nabatieh district and Saida district in southern Lebanon.
🟡 HAPPENING NOW: Israel is delaying the release of Palestinians inside Israeli jails, despite Hamas fulfilling its part of the deal by releasing its captives. The long-anticipated handover of 620 Palestinian prisoners has been stalled without official explanation, leaving families in anguish.
Israeli media reports that Prime Minister Netanyahu is currently meeting with top security officials, with leaks suggesting he may be attempting to extend the first phase of the ceasefire and delay the critical second phase, which includes Israel’s full withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and the start of reconstruction.
Only four more bodies of the remaining 33 captives—dead and alive—are left in Gaza. Among the Palestinians awaiting release are 151 serving life or long-term sentences, 96 designated for exile, and 24 women and children.
Salvador Allende’s grandson visited Yemen. Pablo Allende and Dr. Roberto Bermúdez of the Raúl Pellegrín Foundation led an international Chilean delegation to Sana’a, backing Yemen’s militant opposition to American hegemony.
They were joined by senior government officials and Ansarallah politburo members. The delegation accessed healthcare facilities and sites of major US‑Saudi crimes, and met with senior Yemeni Socialist Party figures. They stressed the need for closer cooperation to combat US imperialism and defend the oppressed globally, including in Palestine.
Yemeni Socialist Party’s Anas Al‑Qadhi said the Chilean delegation attended a Sana’a conference linking Latin American and Yemeni struggles against US hegemony and imperialist tyranny. He added that Pablo Allende greatly admired Yemeni courage.

DPR Korean doctors are “violating” UN sanctions by providing medical services in DR Congo, according to US government-funded Radio Free Asia. What the UN report omits is that ongoing conflicts have left millions in DR Congo without much-needed medical services.
With one of the world’s lowest healthcare coverage rates, DR Congo’s hospitals and clinics lack personnel, equipment, and critical medicine. Decades of conflict—especially in the country’s east—have further restricted access to essential care. However, since 2019, UN Security Council Resolution 2397 has barred DPRK medical staff from working abroad.
Yet, the DPRK doctors in DR Congo wouldn’t be the only ones in Africa; reports indicate DPRK medical workers also operate in war-torn Libya and elsewhere. In the Republic of Congo, locals have even praised their presence: “Actually, this clinic saves a lot of people. Instead of going to big hospitals, we come here for first aid.”

On this day in 1958, the revolutionaries seized the limelight to execute a spectacular operation that made headlines worldwide.

🟡 BREAKING: Hisham Al-Sayed, an Arab Israeli serving in the Zionist forces, has just been released without ceremony in northern Gaza City. His release comes as part of the seventh batch of exchanges in the first phase of the ceasefire plan.
The Qassam Brigades stated that the decision to forgo a public ceremony is out of respect for Palestinians in the 1948-occupied territories and to reject what they describe as the recruitment of Palestinian citizens into Israeli forces. They also pointed to Israel’s failure to secure Al-Sayed’s release over the past decade, highlighting how he was abandoned and neglected since his capture in April 2015, despite having served in the occupation’s ranks.
