Around 50 pro-Palestinian and anti-imperialist activists temporarily occupied the Rote Flora building in Hamburg, Germany. Rote Flora is notorious for having become a pro-Israel and pro-US “activist” hub of the so-called Antideutsche movement.
For a short time, the building was occupied, and pro-Palestine banners were dropped from the top of the building saying “Good Night White Flora,” referring to the fact that the space is mainly frequented by white activists who support Western imperialism.
The pro-Palestine activists demanded that anti-imperialists occupy pro-Israel and pro-US spaces that claim to be hubs for left-wing organizing as a means of liberating them from the Zionist movement.

A homophobic arson attack in Argentina has resulted in the deaths of three lesbian women. In response, protests were held last night to reject the rising tide of hatred and violence in the country. Last week, a 62-year-old man threw a Molotov cocktail into a hostel room where two lesbian couples were sleeping. He was staying in the room next door and had been making homophobic threats.
At 23:30, he threw the bomb into their room, resulting in the deaths of Pamela Cobbas and her partner, Mercedes Roxana Figueroa, within a few hours of the attack. Andrea Amarante and her partner, Sofía Castro, were the other couple in the room and had been in intensive care until yesterday when Amarante died of her injuries, leaving Castro as the only survivor.
Following news of Amarante's death, LGBTQI+ groups and allies held a protest outside the hostel where the attack took place.

Happy birthday to the former Black Panther revolutionary and scholar Kathleen Cleaver! Watch her respond to the question of nonviolence, arguing that “non-violence is non-functional.”
Inspired by the party’s radical approach to addressing anti-racism and class struggle, Cleaver joined the Black Panther Party in 1967 after meeting Eldridge Cleaver.
She became the first woman to be included in the Black Panther Party’s Central Committee, the highest decision-making body within the organization.
As the Communications Secretary, she was responsible for writing speeches, delivering them nationwide, and serving as a media spokesperson.

Kashmir's population is rising up against Pakistan's occupation to an extent many describe as "unseen." Video footage depicts police being chased away or disarmed by protesters as the unrest intensifies. What began as protests against price hikes has escalated into days-long unrest.
The protests against the occupation forces left one policeman dead and over 90 others injured. Footage also shows police brutality against protesters. Authorities imposed internet blackouts.
The militarized Himalayan region of Kashmir is divided between India and Pakistan, both of whom lay claim to the entire territory. For decades, both occupying powers have suppressed Kashmir's independence movement.
A 2020 survey revealed that over 90% of college and university students in Indian-administered Kashmir advocate for a complete withdrawal of Indian forces from the region. Another 47% of Pakistanis said they supported independence for Kashmir.

Argentina was shut down yesterday by the second general strike since “libertarian” President Javier Milei took power. The streets were emptied as public transport ground to a halt, and airlines canceled all their flights.
The strike against austerity and privatization was organized by the three largest union confederations, the CGT, CTA, and ATE, who reported that 97% of their members took part.
The main demands centered around a recent law named the “ley de bases” that eliminates most of the country’s workers’ rights. Other demands include wage increases to match the record-breaking inflation levels, which currently stands at almost 300%, a stark increase compared to the 140% Milei inherited when he took office in December 2023.

Israel’s intense bombardment across the entire Gaza Strip continued overnight. Since the ground invasion of Rafah started, Israel has killed over 97 people, including 35 children and 17 women.
Thousands of Palestinians fleeing Rafah continue to pour into central Gaza, such as Deir el-Balah, where food, water, and medical supplies are scarce. As the two key border crossings into Gaza are still closed, no aid is entering the enclave despite being desperately needed.
Seven months into the war, the food security situation in Gaza remains dire. Malnutrition among children is concerning, as one in three children below the age of two is now acutely malnourished or “wasted.”
Israel’s war on the besieged Gaza Strip, now on its 217th day, has killed at least 34,904 people, 70% of them babies, children, and women, and wounded over 78,514, while over 10,000 are feared dead under the rubble of bombed buildings.

Tens of thousands of protesters have descended upon the Armenian capital of Yerevan, demanding President Nikol Pashinyan’s resignation. The protest comes after the Armenian government announced plans to cede border areas in the country’s Tavush region to its neighbor and longtime adversary, Azerbaijan, as part of a demarcation and delimitation process.
The announcement by the Armenian government follows the departure of nearly 2,000 Russian peacekeepers from in and around the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region, which Azerbaijan forcefully took over by force in September last year. Azerbaijan’s takeover has since resulted in the exodus of 100,000 ethnic Armenians and the destruction of Armenian cultural heritage in the affected region.
Many Armenians view the move as a threat to Armenia’s territorial integrity and security, asserting that it violates established international norms, including principles outlined in the UN Vienna Convention and OSCE guidelines.

Indigenous protesters smeared red urucum seed paste on the faces of business leaders who are pushing for the construction of a railway in the Amazon that will destroy the environment for numerous communities.
At a public consultation event, these business leaders had come to endorse the Ferrogrão railway, which will cause environmental damage affecting fourteen Indigenous communities in the Amazon. Representatives from each of those communities came to voice their opposition.
Brazil’s Ministry of Transport will make the final decision. However, it comes just as there’s growing concern about climate disaster following the deadly floods in Rio Grande do Sul, a region bordering Uruguay, where over 100 people have died and well over 100,000 have been displaced.

HAPPENING NOW: Pro-Palestine activists have launched an offensive against Germany’s Zionist “left” in Hamburg. In this pre-recorded video, the activists are announcing their plans to reclaim Rote Flora, an occupied building that is a base for German Zionists who identify as "anti-fascists".
Currently, over 50 anti-imperialist activists entered of Rote Flora, brandishing Palestine flags and pyrotechnics, demanding the expulsion of Zionists from left-wing spaces across Germany. The presence of Zionists in the German left has become pervasive due to the Antideutsche (anti-Germans), a bizarre movement that is unique to Germany.
Even though the Antideutsche developed out of Marxist circles and claims to be anti-fascist, it is violently pro-Israel and pro-US imperialism, and has been agitating in favor of Germany's extreme crackdown on Palestine solidarity since October 7 last year.
The offensive by pro-Palestine activists aims to restore Rote Flora to its internationalist roots, as it was when initially occupied in 1989.

Israel's relentless war on Gaza continues to intensify. Israeli fighter jets carried out several airstrikes across the strip. In the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, Israeli strikes targeted houses, killing at least 14 Palestinians, including children. The bombing continued overnight while medical crews and rescue teams attempted to reach the targeted areas. Gaza’s civil defense crew is struggling to reach victims trapped under the rubble of bombed buildings, said a spokesperson for the agency, putting the lives of hundreds of injured Palestinians at risk.
According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, at least 82 people were killed and 234 were injured during the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to at least 35,173, with at least 79,061 injuries since Israel's war on Gaza started on October 7, 2023.

Today marks the anniversary of the 1970 liberation of imprisoned communist Andreas Baader by journalists Ulrike Meinhof, Gudrun Ensslin, and others. This event led to the formation of the Red Army Faction (RAF), a Marxist urban guerrilla group that engaged in armed struggle against the West German state for nearly 30 years.

Israel has sent troops and tanks back into the northern Gaza Strip. The Israeli Army has continued to attack the Jabalia refugee camp and intensified attacks on the entire Gaza Strip. Clashes with the Palestinian resistance in Jabalia pushed back the invading forces following a night of intense air raids in the area. The renewed attack, in parallel with the assault on Rafah, comes while Gaza is under a full blockade since Israel took control of the Rafah crossing.
Nearly 360,000 people have fled Rafah since the first evacuation order a week ago. At least 35,034 people have been killed and 78,755 wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7.

Tens of thousands of people in the French overseas territory of New Caledonia have taken to the streets in protest of French President Emmanuel Macron’s plans to reform New Caledonia’s electoral system. At least eight pro-independence activists had already been arrested before being released under pressure from protesters.
The latest wave of protests comes as the French National Assembly in Paris again gave a green light for the proposed constitutional changes, which native pro-independence parties fear will significantly affect their representation.
Last week, the National Assembly law committee debated the proposed constitutional amendment’s value. The bill should be debated again today, with a vote scheduled for May 14.
This move would allow an additional 11,000 mostly non-Indigenous people to determine the future of the French overseas territory, where voices favoring independence have grown.

Environmental activists have stormed the grounds of Tesla’s Gigafactory on the outskirts of Berlin, Germany. Police equipped with riot gear violently attempted to disperse the protesters as they staged the largest protest Elon Musk’s top factory has ever seen.
For several weeks now, activists have been occupying the adjacent forest to stop the factory’s planned expansion, which would come at the cost of severe environmental consequences. It is estimated that around 2,000 protesters are present in the area, with hundreds from across the region joining the protest.

Police forces baton-charged anti-G7 protesters in Venice, Italy, during a two-day minister’s summit meeting. Local media reported hundreds of participants. Militant protests against the summit have been breaking out across the country for weeks.
The official focus of this year’s G7 summit is the “defense” of the Western-dominated “rules-based international system.” Specifically, the G7 states mention the arming of Ukraine against Russia and “conflict in the Middle East.”
Member states are Germany, France, Italy, Japan, Canada, the UK and the US.
Displeasure among G7 opponents is also growing over the failure to deliver on promised goals. No member of the G7 is currently on track to meet its emission reduction targets for 2030, according to a report from the Climate Analytics Policy Institute.
