Watch never-before-released footage of Palestinian children in the West Bank overwhelming an Israeli soldier at point-blank range with a shower of stones during confrontations with the occupation forces. Throwing stones has become symbolic of the Palestinian resistance over the years, given the disparity in power and equipment with the Israeli forces.

The US blocked the UN from recognizing Palestine by vetoing a draft resolution in the Security Council that recommended that “the State of Palestine be admitted to membership of the UN.” With 12 council members voting yes, a clear majority voted in favor; only the UK and Switzerland abstained.
Meanwhile, 139 of the 193 UN member states already recognize Palestine. Even in the EU, several countries are set to recognize Palestine soon.
Since 2012, the Palestinians have been a non-member observer state to the UN, a de facto recognition of statehood granted by the UN General Assembly. However, the Security Council and then at least two-thirds of the General Assembly must approve an application to become a full member of the world body.
The Palestinian push for full membership came six months into Israel’s war of extermination against the Gaza Strip, and as Israel is expanding settlements in the occupied West Bank, which the UN already considers to be illegal.

On this day in 1960, mass protests erupted in the Republic of Korea (ROK, commonly referred to as South Korea). Koreans rose up against the oppressive rule of US-backed President Syngman Rhee, who, as the first-ever President of the ROK, governed the country since its establishment in 1948. In a matter of just 15 days, Rhee was forced to resign and fled to the US.
During Rhee’s rule, marked by his vehement anti-communism, the ROK witnessed numerous civilian massacres and human rights abuses perpetrated by the military, police, fascist paramilitary groups, and the US before, during, and after the Korean War (1950-1953). Under the pretext of combating communism, an estimated one million civilians were killed through mass executions and scorched-earth anti-guerrilla campaigns.

On this day, 60 years ago, Zimbabwe’s war of independence began – the beginning of the end of British colonial rule. The photos depict guerrillas of the Zimbabwe People’s Revolutionary Army, one of the two main liberation movements that spearheaded the anti-colonial struggle.
Under British rule, Black Africans in Zimbabwe faced severe oppression, enduring apartheid-like conditions. They were denied access to essential services while being forced to work on farms and mines for minimal wages, all while their white oppressors enjoyed a life of luxury.
During the liberation war, ZIPRA and the ZANLA fought against colonial forces, ultimately compelling the white government to negotiate.
Rhodesia, later renamed Zimbabwe, was governed by Prime Minister Ian Smith, who once boasted that “white rule in Africa would last for 1,000 years.” However, the struggle of the Zimbabwean people led to independence in 1980, with Robert Mugabe, becoming the country’s first Black Prime Minister.

Читать полностью…CAUGHT ON CAMERA: A German man threatened to kill a Muslim woman wearing a hijab and Palestinian keffiyeh in the heart of Berlin. The woman filmed the shocking Islamophobic assault in a metro station, which happened after she had left a pro-Palestine demonstration earlier this month.
Despite knowing his face was on camera, the man felt so emboldened to continue his racist assault that he crossed over to the woman's platform and chased her. He then called to her friend on the other side to "come over here now" and gestured that he would kill them both.
The woman called the police, but the man had boarded a train before they got there.
In 2023, Islamophobic crimes in Germany more than doubled to 1,424 compared to 610 the previous year, according to police figures, which are likely an extreme understatement. In the first month of this year alone, the police reported 137 anti-Muslim hate crimes.

German government spokespersons were at a loss for words when pressed about the absurd police-enforced crackdown on the 2024 Palestine Congress in Berlin.
The international congress was quickly besieged by almost 1,000 police forces and banned shortly after it began. Additionally, some international guests were arbitrarily prohibited from engaging in political activities in Germany, further exacerbating tensions. Police violence escalated during protests against the ban.
The heavy-handed police response and subsequent ban sparked outrage both domestically and internationally, prompting widespread media coverage and condemnation. However, government spokespersons remained tight-lipped during a press conference addressing the incident.

Happy birthday to Ernst Thälmann, the legendary German communist leader! Thälmann devoted his life to the cause of the working class and communism and organized the overthrow of Hitler's dictatorship.
As the Chairman of the Communist Party of Germany (KPD), he was pivotal in building the Red Front, the militant organization spearheading the anti-fascist fight in Germany. He also established the Antifaschistische Aktion (Antifa) to resist the rise of fascism across Europe.
However, in March 1933, Thälmann was arrested by the Gestapo and subjected to 11 years of solitary confinement. In 1944, he was transferred to the Buchenwald concentration camp and executed by direct order of Adolf Hitler.
Ernst Thälmann's legacy continues to inspire generations in the ongoing class struggle for the liberation of mankind.

Several court cases were filed against Israel for committing countless crimes during its relentless war on the Gaza Strip. It has violated International Humanitarian Law (IHL) by attacking civilian targets and using prohibited weapons such as white phosphorus in a blatant breach of core provisions under the Geneva and Hague Conventions. But even with all the evidence and the live-streamed crimes seen by the entire world, no sanctions or serious action have been taken against Israel.

Columbia students occupied their university and are now facing reprisals from the police and their own university authorities. More than 100 students were arrested, and a handful have had their student status suspended by Columbia.
Protesters had set up an encampment occupying the lawn of the central campus at Columbia, a scene reminiscent of the historic anti-war protests in support of Vietnam at the same university.
The main demand of the student protesters is that Columbia divest from Israel and cut any academic cooperation. It's organized by several groups, including Columbia University Apartheid Divest, Students for Justice in Palestine, and Jewish Voice for Peace.

Argentina now has the highest inflation of any country globally, above Lebanon and Venezuela.
The free-market "libertarian" was supposed to reduce inflation through "fiscal responsibility". However, Javier Milei's policy of ending price and exchange rate controls has pushed inflation up more than 100 points within just a few months.
Argentina already has one of the lowest minimum wages in Latin America, at just $200 per month. Now, the megadevaulation of the currency and record inflation have made life impossible for many.
Milei has also eliminated more than 24,000 public sector jobs and plans to reach 70,000 jobs cuts—a nightmare scenario for those newly unemployed during a record-breaking inflation period.

Hired guards violently tore down a fence built by Filipino farmers to protect their farm. No less than 60 security guards from Jarton Security surrounded the farmers’ camp, threatening to demolish it. At least one resident was injured by the security guards, According to the Samahan ng Magsasaka ng Tartaria (SAMATA).
For decades, local farmers and shop owners in Brgy. Tartaria in Silang, Cavite, have faced threats of demolition, land grabbing, and displacement at the hands of landlords. SAMATA said that the demolition aims to give way to development projects led by Ayala Land, Inc. through a deal with Emilio “Orange” Aguinaldo IV, the great-great-grandson of former Philippine President Emilio Aguinaldo.
Residents began tilling the area in 1911; however, the Aguinaldo clan has been claiming an estimated 300 hectares of land in the area since 1940, known as Lupang Aguinaldo.

Police forces violently stormed a squatted refugee shelter in Paris, France, forcibly expelling 450 migrants. The operation is part of a large-scale police campaign to “clean up” the streets of Paris for the upcoming Olympics hosted in the capital.
Tents, makeshift shelters, migrants, and homeless people have to make way for the biggest sporting event in the world, a multi-million dollar business. Charity organizations sharply criticize the authorities’ actions.
Among the 450 displaced individuals in Vitry-sur-Seine, the largest migrant squatting center in Paris, were 20 children and 50 women. Earlier this month, similar evictions displaced 50 migrants. The police operation is expected to continue for several days.

107 years ago today, legendary revolutionary Bolshevik leader Vladimir Lenin returned to his homeland, arriving in Petrograd. This was a key moment in Russian and world history, leading to the Great October Socialist Revolution.
Following 17 years of exile, Lenin arrived on April 16 after a long train journey, determined to overthrow the failed corrupt Provisional government.
Addressing thousands at the station, Lenin climbed on top of an armored train car and called for the Bolshevik Party to use armed force to overthrow the provisional government formed after the abdication of Tsar Nicholas II. He also called for workers to seize the factories and peasants to take land from wealthy landlords.
Later that year, the Russian working class made history by overthrowing the Provisional government and seizing power in the world's first socialist revolution.
