“Peace isn’t the answer. Liberation is the answer.” – Watch this iconic clapback of revolutionary Kwame Ture, who argued that “peace” merely serves as a demand of the oppressor, while “liberation” is the true solution.
This iconic clapback is captured in the 1967 documentary “Tell Me Lies,” which explores the global response to the Vietnam War. At the time of its release, the docu was heavily attacked by imperialist advocates.
Ture’s words continue to resonate, especially in light of the ongoing annihilation war against Palestine, the unwavering resistance, and the reigniting discussion of liberation.

Molotov cocktails rained down on riot police during another student protest at the National University demanding an urgent change of course by the administration. Over the past few months, the country has seen further and further escalating student-led riots with a particularly militant character in several cities.
The ongoing student protests center around a range of issues, including high costs, decaying campus infrastructure, and undemocratic governance. Following unanswered grievances, students at Bogotá's National University declared an “indefinite strike” earlier this week.
Colombia’s universities have historically been hotbeds of the country's rebellious periods, a tradition that has run through popular uprisings as well as armed conflict.
Unfulfilled promises by Colombia’s first left-wing president, Gustavo Petro, such as the release of political prisoners from the 2019 uprising or the dissolution of the notorious ESMAD police unit, continue to fuel tensions.

French President Emmanuel Macron plans to reform New Caledonia’s electoral system with the support of right-wing parties. This move would allow an additional 11,000 mostly non-Indigenous people to determine the future of the French overseas territory, where voices favoring independence have grown. Pro-independence forces are now attempting to push back against Macron’s effort to retain the archipelago within the French Republic. Will the revision mark the end of a peaceful process and a return to tumult?

Indonesian security forces violently dispersed a peaceful protest against the military occupation of West Papua. It is reported that at least 65 have been arrested. The crackdown on the protest in the town of Jayapura comes a day after 15 activists were arrested a day earlier for distributing leaflets calling for today’s rally.
The protest comes about a week after a video emerged showing Indonesian troops brutally torturing a Papuan man. Senior army officer Izak Pangemanan confirmed that the video was authentic and that the incident occurred in February. The Indonesian army issued a rare apology, saying that 13 soldiers had been arrested.
The Free Papua Movement has been resisting Indonesian occupation in the Papua region for decades as the latter has been accused of conducting a genocidal campaign against the island’s Indigenous population. It is estimated that hundreds of thousands of Papuans have been killed by Indonesian security forces, with many women subjected to sexual violence.
Today marks the birthday of Lebanese revolutionary Georges Abdallah, a communist who fought for Palestine. Abdallah has spent four decades in French prisons, yet France refuses to release him despite having served his sentence, due to Israeli and American pressure.

Disturbing footage showing police violence against two unarmed Black men in Madrid has gone viral on Spanish social media. This has sparked widespread outcry and calls for an investigation into the alleged racist police actions.
In the video, a police officer is seen repeatedly hitting a man on the ground with a baton. He then forcefully knocks down a second young person standing nearby with punches and grabs to the throat.
Official police statements tried to justify the violence by saying the two men were "undermining authority."
In response to the police violence caught on video, protests broke out in Lavapiés plaza on Sunday.
These protests, along with the work of anti-racist groups and left-wing political parties, pressured the Ministry of the Interior to start investigations into the case.
Madrid's right-wing mayor, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, has shown support for the police after the incident.

These campaigns aimed to boycott organizations and companies perceived to support the Israeli occupation, resulting in significant financial losses for major Western fast-food chains such as McDonald's, Starbucks, and KFC. The companies experienced a decline in their stock shares as a result of these boycott efforts.

October 7 is portrayed as an act of frenzied violence, coming seemingly out of nowhere and unprovoked. In reality, the Al-Aqsa Flood had clear objectives and came out of a series of specific provocations and attacks by the Israeli state against the sacred Al-Aqsa site.
🟡 For a full analysis check out our new article here.
Tens of thousands of Palestinians defied violent attacks by Israeli forces to attend the last Friday prayers at the Al-Aqsa mosque in occupied Jerusalem during the holy month of Ramadan. Despite the heavy presence of approximately 3,600 Israeli forces across Jerusalem, the number of attending worshippers surpassed 100,000, according to figures published by occupation authorities.
Situated on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City, the Al-Aqsa Mosque holds significant religious importance as Islam’s third most sacred mosque. However, scenes of violence during these gatherings have become an annual occurrence under Israeli occupation. This year, the atmosphere is further charged by the ongoing war of annihilation against Gaza.

Prison massacres and violent crime continue to ravage Ecuador despite the right-wing government’s “tough on crime” bravado. The country is also becoming one of the fastest-growing sources of migrants arriving at the US border. The roots of this crisis lie in the neoliberal destruction of Ecuador’s society and economy.

In honor of Martin Luther King (MLK) Jr., on the day of his assassination, we remember his iconic speech at Stanford in 1967. MLK’s insightful analysis revealed that the white ruling class’ racism and exploitation provoked the frustrations of the Black community, in particular, to boil over into violent outbursts in several US cities. He understood that the root cause of these riots was the failure of the US establishment to address the demands of the Black community and poor people in general, famously dubbing the riots “the language of the unheard.”

On this day in 1968, Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. Mainstream media continues to de-radicalize King, portraying him as a liberal icon and erasing his legacy as one of the most radical figures of the struggle for racial justice in the US. Hence, King is little known for his fierce condemnation of capitalism.

Indigenous communities in Ecuador are mobilizing against Canadian mining company Atico Mining Corp., which has begun gold mining operations that will damage the water supply for Quichua towns in the Andean region of Cotopaxi. Atico signed an $800 million deal with the neoliberal government of President Daniel Noboa at the beginning of March. Since then, the Confederation of Indigenous Nations of Ecuador (CONAIE) has demanded that the affected communities vote on the issue.
The government’s failure to consult with those affected has led to protests erupting in the region. Noboa’s right-wing government is currently engaged in a “tough on crime” propaganda campaign to address the crime wave in major cities. Now, it’s applying the same rhetoric to Indigenous protesters, with the military labeling these communities as ‘terrorists’ and describing them as” ‘organized groups.”

Military police officers brutally assaulted a Black family in Brazil. Footage shows police officers attacking a 21-year-old Black man before following him into his house without a warrant. Inside, police continued to assault the young man, also attacking his father in a wheelchair, who attempted to stop the violence.
According to the man’s sister, confrontations not caught on camera involved torture and death threats. He was taken to the hospital before being taken to the police station. His case was registered as contempt and disobedience.
The city of Piracicaba, where the incident occurred, is located in the state of São Paulo, governed by Tarcísio de Freitas, a former minister under previous far-right President Jair Bolsonaro. A political earthquake rocked eastern Turkey overnight as authorities rejected the results of regional elections in the predominantly Kurdish region of Van and blocked the democratically elected mayor candidate Abdullah Zeydan. The situation escalated rapidly, with footage emerging of armed individuals, purportedly supporters of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s ruling AKP party, opening fire on protesters.
Unrest quickly spread beyond Van to other cities in the east, prompting a massive deployment of military and police forces onto the streets by the government. Protests also erupted in Istanbul, with confrontations between water cannons and Molotov cocktails, and protesters setting up burning barricades to block streets.
The AKP, governing in coalition with the nationalist MHP party, suffered significant defeats in the recent regional elections. The pro-Kurdish leftist DEM party emerged as the third strongest force, with Zeydan winning 55.5% of the votes in Van compared to the AKP candidate’s 27.2%. Protesters interpreted the government’s actions as a coup.
Zeydan condemned the blockade against him as “absolute lawlessness” and “a trap set against the Kurdish people.”
This escalation follows years of political tensions between the Turkish state and pro-Kurdish and leftist movements, particularly since the collapse of negotiations with the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party, which has been engaged in a decades-old insurgency.

Hours after a deadly Israeli airstrike hit the Iranian Embassy in Syria, Iranian protesters called for revenge. Almost 200 protesters gathered near the former Israeli embassy in Tehran, burning Israeli, US, and British flags.
The Israeli Air Force bombed the annex building of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus on Monday, marking the first strike by Israel targeting Iranian government buildings. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement that seven Iranian military advisers died in the strike, including Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a senior commander of its Quds Force.
Israel has long targeted Iran’s military installations in Syria and those of its proxies. However, with the escalation of its war of extermination in the Gaza Strip, it has also ramped up its attacks in Syria and Lebanon, further escalating the already tense situation in the region.

Seven aid workers were killed in an Israeli strike on a convoy in the Gaza Strip, despite coordinating their movements with the Israeli military. The convoy was hit as it was leaving the Deir al-Balah warehouse, where the team had unloaded more than 100 tons of humanitarian food aid brought to Gaza via the maritime route. The aid workers were part of the World Central Kitchen (WCK) team distributing aid in Gaza. The seven workers killed were from Australia, Palestine, Poland, the UK, and a dual citizen of the US and Canada.
“This is not only an attack against WCK, this is an attack on humanitarian organizations showing up in the most dire of situations where food is being used as a weapon of war. This is unforgivable,” said World Central Kitchen CEO Erin Gore.

In a major escalation, the Israeli Air Force bombed the annex building of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus, Syria. This marks the first strike by Israel targeting Iranian government buildings.
The strike aimed at a building housing the Iranian ambassador, representing an unprecedented escalation. Previously, Israeli forces had targeted several members of Iran’s al-Quds Force in Syria but had never attacked recognized Iranian diplomatic missions.
Syrian media reports the strike occurred during a meeting between “senior regional figures,” resulting in the loss of six lives. Iranian media claims senior IRGC official Mohammad Reza Zahedi was killed in the alleged Israeli strike.
Less than 24 hours prior, a drone attack targeted an Israeli naval base in the southern city of Eilat, claimed by the Iraqi Islamic Resistance, backed by Iran.

Fierce clashes broke out in Mexico's capital between trans protesters, supporters, and police officers on International Trans Visibility Day. The annual Trans Visibility Day serves as a global day of protest for the fight for LGBTQ+ rights with a particular focus on trans issues.
Police forces tried to disperse the crowd in front of the National Palace with tear gas. The protests in Mexico City erupted after the first two weeks of the year saw four murders of trans people.
Despite polls indicating overwhelming support, with 82% of Mexico's population backing transgender discrimination protection and gender reassignment not being legally restricted, LGBTQ+ individuals in the country endure disproportionately high levels of violence and hate crimes.
Over the past six years, the rights group Letra S has documented at least 513 targeted killings of LGBTQ people in Mexico, with the majority of these crimes remaining unresolved.
