Filipinos tore up US flags in Manila in response to a visit by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The visit comes amid mounting tension in the South China Sea. Blinken made it clear that the US will militarily secure its interests in the region if armed clashes with China break out.

Various leftist organizations, including the League of Filipino Students, organized protests, condemning Blinken's visit as part of the US's hegemonic agenda. Simultaneously, the ongoing protest voiced opposition to Chinese aggression against the Philippines.

The US has significantly bolstered its presence in the Philippines, transforming it into a key stronghold in the region and pushing the island nation closer to the frontline in the geopolitical standoff with China. Last year, the US approved the establishment of four new military bases in the Philippines, alongside the largest-ever military exercises involving 12,000 US troops.

Soup kitchen organizers across Argentina were repressed yesterday as they protested against rising hunger under "libertarian" President Javier Milei. The protests occurred in almost every city, from Buenos Aires to Córdoba to Jujuy.

Soup kitchens run by social movements received food donations and funding under the last government of Alberto Fernández and Cristina Kirchner; as soon as Milei took office in early December 2023, all that funding was cut.

The funding cuts for these food banks coincide with a sharp rise in the need for such services. Inflation has reached a crisis point in Argentina, now at 254% annually, up from 160% when Milei first took office.

There have also been thousands of job losses in the public sector as Milei closes down numerous ministries and state companies as part of his "shock therapy" agenda. A recent poll revealed that 70% of Argentinians believe the economy has worsened under Milei.

Joe Biden was put in his place by Irish PM Leo Varadkar, schooling the US President on the Irish people’s history of solidarity with Palestine, something Biden obviously is oblivious about. Quite ironic, considering he loves to remind people that he is Irish, don’t you think?

Hooded student protesters stole a police car in Medellín, Colombia, drove it onto the university campus, and set it on fire in front of a cheering crowd. The protesters demanded the democratization of universities after the school administration refused to accept elected student representatives.

Leaflets from a group calling itself the “Student Guard” denounced “undemocratic and illegitimate” electoral processes, urging the student movement to seek profound university reform. The pamphlet also rejected the stigmatization and persecution of the mobilized students.

The protests paralyzed the University of Antioquia, the oldest departmental university in Colombia, founded in 1803.

Similar university protests have developed in several parts of the country in recent months, against which the authorities have sent ESMAD anti-riot police. The ESMAD clashes contradict a key campaign promise of leftist president Gustavo Petro to dissolve the ESMAD, further triggering anger among the students.

Niger's transitional government is kicking the US military out of their country, declaring the presence "illegal." US Department of Defense civilian staff will also be expelled. The move comes just six months after the French army was sent packing by Niger's military authorities, who took power in a coup last summer.

Announcing Niger's decision, Colonel-Major Amadou Abdramane hit back at US allegations that Niger may give Iran secret access to its uranium mines. He said it is "common knowledge" that Niger's uranium is "totally controlled by France."

The US claim about a secret Niamey-Tehran uranium agreement was made during a visit by US officials to Niamey last week, which Abdaramane said violated diplomatic protocol.

Niger's move is a huge blow to the US which built its largest and most expensive drone base in US history in the Nigerien city of Agadez. "Nigerien drone base 201" has a 6,200 ft runway and was built for $110 million.

After the tragic death of 18-year-old Wanys at the hands of the police, tensions have reached a boiling point as riots took to the streets, targeting a police station in La Courneuve, France, four days later. The incident occurred following a fatal collision between a police vehicle and a scooter carrying two young men, sparking outrage among the local community.

The police station was targeted with fireworks and Molotov cocktails with the presence of police officers inside the building. In response, French police deployed additional forces, arresting six individuals and firing 104 shots from LBDs and stun grenades.

This latest incident adds to a disturbing trend of police brutality in France, with 16 individuals killed by law enforcement in the past year and a half alone, all under the pretext of “failure to comply.”

Media outlets echoed the police’s version, which asserted that the collision was unavoidable. However, a circulating video on social media contradicts this narrative, clearly showing the police vehicle obstructing the scooter’s path before the collision. Despite these discrepancies, the media’s narrative, previously utilized in similar cases like the murder of Nahel last June or the recent death of a 22-year-old in Marseille, continues to dominate public discourse.

Israel is automating its killing machines.

Since the beginning of Israel's relentless war on the Gaza Strip, hundreds of Palestinian civilians have been killed or wounded by Israeli snipers and “quad copter drones.” Despite the limited information available, reports from Israeli media and manufacturer videos shows the types of weapons being tested and utilized in Gaza.

The use of these new weapons, along with the remote operation of drones and autonomous weapons, is changing the nature of modern wars. By distancing soldiers from the act of killing, desensitizing them to the actual impact of their actions. Moreover, the use of such weaponry makes it more complicated to hold those soldiers responsible for their crimes, as tracing the origins of attacks becomes increasingly difficult.

It's time to officially rebrand Slavoj Žižek from "the most dangerous philosopher in the West" to the most racist philosopher on the "left".

After arguing that Ukraine should be given nuclear weapons, Žižek told UK TV host Piers Morgan that Russians are: "no less than Arabs, they are today, in the worst sense, fanatical religious fundamentalists."

Žižek has a long track record of blending leftist talking points with racist theories.

His resume includes sharing a platform with far-right icon Jordan Peterson, plagiarizing a white supremacist magazine, openly supporting Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election, claiming “the subordination of women” is part of Islamic life, and writing that "moderate" Islam "cannot but resemble fascism".

In 2016, Noam Chomsky said Žižek’s work has “no content … beyond the level of something which you can explain in five minutes to a twelve-year-old.”

”I’m Hitler’s citizen.” – Hundreds of fascists in Latvia's capital commemorated the Latvian SS Volunteer Legion, which fought against the Red Army on the Eastern Front during WWII, under the command of Nazi Germany. The Waffen-SS branch was established by direct orders from Adolf Hitler.

The fascist commemoration takes place annually on the “Remembrance Day of the Latvian Legionnaires,” which was officially recognized by the Latvian parliament for years but has since lost its official status.

The Latvian Legion was one of the most resolute Nazi battalions and was among the last of Nazi Germany's forces to surrender. It grew to a size of almost 90,000 men shortly before the war's end, with an additional 23,000 men serving as Wehrmacht auxiliaries.

Twenty-seven million Soviet soldiers and civilians were killed in the fight against the German invasion on the Eastern Front, which concluded with the defeat of Nazi Germany.

A French soldier in the Israeli military admits to torturing kidnapped Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. In a video, Palestinian men are seen being dragged from a military truck to a bus, with the French soldier filming saying, "You will see his back... look how we tortured him." Since the beginning of the Israeli invasion of Gaza, the Israeli military has kidnapped thousands of Palestinians to unknown locations and detention camps, where they have been interrogated and tortured.

In December 2023, a French lawmaker sent a letter to the Justice Minister requesting an investigation into the 4,185 French-origin soldiers serving in the Israeli army in Gaza. The request demanded that French nationals involved in Israel's attacks on Gaza should stand trial if found to be involved in war crimes. But a recent statement from the French foreign minister stated that France will refrain from conducting investigations into French-origin soldiers serving in the Israeli army.

Thousands have simulated a massacre in protest of Israel’s ongoing war of extermination against Gaza in the Basque city of Donostia-San Sebastián. Under the slogan “Stop Genocide,” more than 250 Basque cultural creators called for the protest.

In a striking comparison to the 1937 massacre in Guernica, air raid sirens echoed during the rally. One thousand six hundred civilians were killed in the Basque village by fascist dictator Francisco Franco’s forces with the help of Nazi Germany, an event deeply ingrained into Basque memory.

Today, we remember the worst chemical gas attack against civilians in history: the Halabja massacre. Ordered by Saddam Hussein in 1988, this atrocity targeted the Kurdish city during the Iran-Iraq War.

The UN classified the massacre as genocide, highlighting its severity. Over 7,000 people were killed, the majority of whom were civilians. This massacre was a key part of a broader counterinsurgency campaign against oppressed Kurds. These Kurds had sided with the Iranians in their struggle against Hussein.

The massacre was made possible through both direct and indirect support from the US and Germany. These countries manufactured and supplied the poison gas used in the attack. The aftermath of the Halabja massacre is haunting, with many victims suffering long-term effects. These include cancer, skin diseases, infertility, and congenital deformities.
