For this year’s World Press Freedom Day, we take a look at how Israel’s war of extermination against the Gaza Strip has affected press freedom. While Israel’s deliberate targeting of journalists in occupied Palestine is nothing new, the past seven months saw an unprecedented toll on press freedom, particularly for Palestinian journalists.
Support our colleagues, Palestinian journalists Samy Zyara, Mohammed Abu-Nahel, Mohammed El Saife, and Hassan Esdodi, who are bravely reporting from Gaza through our GoFundMe campaign here.

Meta is now internationally limiting the political content you can see on their platforms. Here’s a quick guide on how to stop Instagram and Threads from deciding what shows up on your feed.
What Meta considers to be “political content” remains extremely vague. In-app settings describe “political content” as “likely to mention governments, elections, or social topics that affect a group of people and/or society at large.” This way, Meta is free to arbitrarily decide what “political content” is “eligible for recommendation” or not.

Two worlds stand facing each other in this great struggle: [...] The world of exploitation and slavery and the world of brotherhood and freedom.”

Clashes between protesters and riot police rocked the Georgian capital of Tbilisi as the government passed the “foreign agent” bill. Police used tear gas, foam, and water cannons to disperse the protesters besieging the parliament building. It is reported that protesters broke down the parliament’s door in an attempt to enter the building. The clashes led to over a dozen injured.
On Wednesday, the South Caucasian country’s parliament approved the bill’s second reading. However, a further third reading is required for it to become law. The bill would require organizations receiving more than 20% of their funding from abroad to register as agents of foreign influence. It has sparked controversy among many Georgians who view it as a “Russian” law intended to stifle dissent.
In the past weeks, an ever-growing number of protesters have taken to the streets, with tens of thousands shutting down central Tbilisi on Wednesday, the largest anti-government protest yet.
