They dismantled indigenous leadership and forced Ugandans to grow export crops instead of food for their own survival, trapping them in poverty while Britain profited.

Happy birthday to Rosa Luxemburg, the pioneer of Germany’s revolutionary struggle! On her 154th birthday, as part of Women’s History Month, we celebrate Luxemburg’s revolutionary socialist legacy, which, more than a century later, remains as important as ever.
During World War I, Luxemburg became one of the most vocal opponents of the war. She argued that it was the result of a conflict between capitalist powers willing to sacrifice the lives of millions of working-class people to achieve global dominance. She believed that the communist revolution was the only solution to stop the endless cycle of wars motivated by imperialist interests.
Once more, global powers engage in conflicts for dominance, highlighted by the war in Ukraine. Meanwhile, Europe witnesses a troubling rise in fascism. Learning from the past, we recall Luxemburg as one of history’s most important anti-war and anti-fascist revolutionaries.

Russian President Putin has agreed to mediate US-Iran talks on Iran’s nuclear program. According to Bloomberg, Russia accepted Trump’s request to facilitate talks on Iran’s nuclear activities and its support for armed groups in the Middle East.
The request was made in February during a phone call between the two leaders and US-Russia talks in Riyadh. Topics included ending the Ukraine war, financial investments, and restoring relations. Iran’s nuclear program and regional influence were also central topics, with Iran expressing interest in talks aimed at lifting US sanctions.
Tensions rise as a US intelligence report warns Israel may strike Iran’s nuclear facilities in early 2025, drawing the US into the conflict. Iran has bolstered defenses by deploying air defense systems around key nuclear sites.
In February, Trump signed a National Security Presidential Memorandum (NSPM), reinstating maximum pressure on Iran to block its nuclear ambitions and dismantle its regional network.
Honduras has jailed three former military generals for murdering a protester during the 2009 coup against leftist President Manuel Zelaya. Backed by the Obama-Clinton administration, the coup aimed to remove Zelaya for pushing progressive reforms.

Syrian government forces launched raids in Latakia, allegedly targeting Assad-loyalist forces. The city of Latakia is home to much of Syria’s Alawite minority, which has increasingly fallen victim to violence since HTS took power.
The family of the ousted Bashar al-Assad has Alawite roots, making the Alawites a primary target of HTS suspicion. After seizing power, the self-declared president of Syria’s transitional government, Ahmad al-Sharaa, flooded Latakia with his troops.
Footage shows heavy bursts of gunfire echoing through the city’s streets. The government justified the raids by citing an attack on its security forces that left two dead. State media blamed “groups of Assad militia remnants.”
The chaos following the fall of the Assad government in December 2024 led to numerous massacres of Alawites. The shrine of al-Khasibi, the founder of the Alawite sect, was burned down in Aleppo. Since then, violence against Alawite communities has escalated continuously.
The police officer who killed Nahel may stand in trial for homicide almost two years after the incident. The Nanterre Public Prosecutor’s Office, in France, has concluded its investigation and formally requested a trial, stating that the shooting was intentional.
The 17-year-old, of North African descent, was shot at point-blank range in June 2023. Initially, police claimed he had tried to run over the officer, but footage released online contradicted this account. A woman was shot dead with live ammunition. Heavy military activity was reported across Gaza. Al Jazeera reported artillery shelling and Israeli warships firing along the shores of Khan Yunis. Drones flew over the Strip throughout the day, adding to fears of further escalation.
Israel is pushing to extend the first phase of the ceasefire plan rather than engage in negotiations for a second phase. The second phase aims to finalize the prisoner exchange process while laying the groundwork for lasting peace in Gaza. A key condition is the withdrawal of Israeli soldiers, along with efforts to rebuild the devastated territory and establish long-term arrangements.
Amnesty International is calling for a war crimes investigation into Israel’s attacks on Lebanon's health sector.
Since October 8, 2023, Israeli airstrikes have killed over 4,045 people across Lebanon and injured more than 16,750. Throughout its aggression, Israel deliberately targeted health facilities, ambulances, and healthcare workers, all of which are protected under international law. Despite Israel’s claims that medical centers were used to cover alleged "terrorist activities," Amnesty International found no evidence to support these accusations.
According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, between October 2023 and November 2024, the Israeli military attacked 67 hospitals, 56 primary healthcare centers, and 238 emergency medical teams, killing at least 222 medical and emergency relief workers.

According to Al-Akhbar, the drone targeted two brothers who were inspecting their land. This attack comes as Israel keeps violating the November 2024 ceasefire with Lebanon and maintaining its occupation in the south.
The US is taking control of key Panama Canal ports in a $22.8 billion deal. The ports, Balboa and Cristóbal, are being transferred from CK Hutchison to BlackRock, a US financial giant. These ports handle nearly 40% of the canal’s container traffic, making them essential to global trade.
CK Hutchison is selling a 90% stake in the company operating the ports. The deal includes 80% of its global port holdings, covering 43 ports in 23 countries, including the UK, Germany, and Australia. CK Hutchison is set to receive over $19 billion in cash.

Despite the Lebanese government's formal opposition to the Israeli occupation, US and Israeli officials have confirmed a quiet understanding. The IDF's presence will remain for weeks or even months until the Lebanese army stabilizes the situation and neutralizes Hezbollah as a threat.

Arab League members met in Cairo to present a plan in response to Trump’s proposal to forcibly displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. The summit is being held as Israel has blocked the entry of humanitarian aid to Gaza and is threatening to resume its genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.
Al-Sisi emphasized that the Arab League’s plan will ensure the Palestinian people remain on their land. The Gaza reconstruction plan includes the establishment of an independent Palestinian committee to manage the Strip, as well as providing security training to officials to facilitate the return of the Palestinian Authority.

🟡 NEW: Around 100 Maoist guerrillas from the New People’s Army clashed with Philippine government forces in gun battles. One FA-50 fighter jet from the government’s military went missing, a development that is currently dominating headlines across the Philippines.
The scene unraveled in the rugged mountains of Bukidnon, in the south of the archipelago. The government forces launched a counterinsurgency operation ahead of the 56th anniversary celebrations of the NPA at the end of March.
The NPA is the armed wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines. They’ve been locked in one of the longest-running communist armed struggles in the world, pursuing its strategy of protracted people's war.

According to Israel's Channel 12, Israel plans to renew the war on Gaza within 10 days unless progress is made in the negotiations. Sa'ar's statements once again highlight Israel's violations of the ceasefire terms. On Sunday, Israel blocked the entry of vital humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. Israel is now redefining the terms of the ceasefire, with the support of US envoy Steve Witkoff.
In response to international criticism of Trump’s plan to ethnically cleanse the Gaza Strip, Sa'ar stated that the world must recognize that "Palestinians are also human beings and they deserve the free choice."

The film, produced between 2019 and 2023, is the result of a collaboration between Israeli and Palestinian filmmakers. It follows activist Basel Adra as he documents Israeli colonial violence and the forced displacement and destruction of his hometown, Masafer Yatta.
After the directors' speech at the 2024 Berlinale, where they called for an end to arms sales to Israel and a ceasefire, German journalists and politicians accused the film of promoting antisemitic and anti-Israeli rhetoric.
In the Arab world, several boycott campaigns have been launched against the film, accusing it of promoting normalization. Israel has blocked humanitarian aid to Gaza as ceasefire plan negotiations stall. Despite its obligations under the ceasefire agreement, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered a halt to aid deliveries, leaving the entire Gaza Strip without desperately needed supplies.
