German police have threatened Palestinian activist Salah Said amid a wave of extreme repression against activists opposed to Israel's war of extermination. Said, who was also active in the occupation at Berlin's Free University, from where we have been reporting, said police officers knocked on his door and interrogated him, saying they were running files on him and threatening new "visits" if he did not stop his activism.
A few days ago, on December 20, over 170 police raided the homes and facilities of Palestinian-Soldi internationalist activists in Berlin. Germany is leading the western crackdown campaign against Palestinian activism. Shortly after Israel declared war on October 7, German authorities immediately banned Palestinian organizations, banned protests, and violently suppressed demonstrations with police violence.

Since October 7th, the Israeli state, politicians, mainstream media and foreign pro-Israel public figures have likened Gaza's ruling militant groups to the extremist terrorists !S!S. This characterization has also extended to other factions such as the PIJ and the PFLP.
However, the wild claim shatters when cross-checked against the group's political programs. Take a look, as we dive into the political programs of four of the armed factions currently based in Gaza.

red. Rewind 2023: Among the biggest embarrassments for France following the 2023 coup in Niger, which cut far-reaching exploitative ties between the African country and its former colonial ruler, was the seizure of "smuggled croissants" bound for the sanctioned French embassy in the country. Coup forces seized chests full of the French pastries contraband, one of many embarrassments for France this year.

Huge numbers of marching Yemenis have been seen being deployed to confront the US-led coalition in the Red Sea. Ever since Israel began its war on the Gaza Strip, Yemenis have been at the forefront of solidarity with the Palestinians: from organizing protests with hundreds of thousands of people to cutting off Israel’s supply line in the Red Sea.
In response, the US has spearheaded the creation of a naval task force to “protect shipping in the Red Sea,” whose purpose is in fact to protect Israel and not international shipping. Ansarallah leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi warned that any escalation will be met with escalation, also clarifying that engaging in a direct war with the US and Israel, rather than their proxies, is what the group wants the most.

Argentina’s unions and social movements took to the streets yesterday for the first time since “libertarian” President Javier Milei took power. Protesters rallied against the new neoliberal measures, as well as a new repressive law being introduced to crack down on social protest.
Milei has already announced his “Shock Therapy” measures, such as cuts to infrastructure spending and subsidies, and as a result, inflation is even worse today. Argentina is set for a 30% monthly inflation, much higher than the 8% figure in October.
To prevent social protests against these measures, Milei is introducing a new law that criminalizes any mobilization that cuts traffic access and gives the police greater power to repress.

French President Emmanuel Macron allied with the far-right to pass a controversial new migration bill that limits access to social security to foreigners who have been in France for 5 years or 30 months for those with jobs. Lawmakers from Macron’s centrist party voted for the bill along with the conservative Les Républicains and fascist leader Marine Le Pen’s National Rally Party.
Last week opposition lawmakers refused even to debate the bill. In response, Macron's centrist government responded by putting forward a much tougher bill which also toughed rules for foreign students, introduced migration quotas, and made it harder for the children of foreigners to become French. Communist MP Elsa Faucillon said that Macron’s government was using the same sort of words and ideas on migration as Italy’s fascist Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

red. Rewind 2023: The year started with months of mass protests and nationwide strikes in France against President Emmanuel Macron's decision to increase the retirement age, which was rejected by over 70% of the population. Hundreds of thousands of workers paralyzed public life with over a dozen nationwide strikes in the first five months of the year.
Protesters occupied corporate buildings linked to the capitalist class, such as the headquarters of BlackRock and Louis Vuitton in Paris. The protests were met with massive police violence. After the French Assembly voted against the reform, Macron used a highly controversial constitutional article to force it through, and it became law in September.

Happy Birthday to the pan-African revolutionary Thomas Sankara! Inspired by the example of the revolutionary armed movements in China and Cuba under Mao Zedong and Fidel Castro, he believed that the armed forces could act as a progressive socialist force that could help improve people's lives.
Sankara launched extensive social, ecological, and economic programs, as well as land reform. Setting a personal example, he cut his salary and sold off the government fleet of Mercedes while maintaining an austere lifestyle. He was also known for his solid anti-imperialist foreign policy, challenging Western imperialism in Africa, mainly from France.
However, Sankara's presidency came to a tragic end in 1987 when he was murdered during a coup organized by Blaise Compaoré, who had become Sankara's closest friend after they had met in the military and who had been involved in the 1983 revolution. Read on.

Watch a German journalist admit to red. media that he doesn't consider the celebrations of Palestinian civilians killed by Israel as discriminatory, but insist that activism in solidarity with Palestine has been "anti-Semitic".
The reporter from the national radio show, Deutschlandfunk, falsely claimed that an action by Berlin university students, where participants held up red hands was "anti-Semitic" because it celebrated an attack on IDF reservists in Ramallah in the year 2000. The students' red hands in fact symbolized the blood of Palestinians being massacred by Israel in Gaza.
Meanwhile, the reporter refused to condemn the explicit Israeli celebrations on TikTok of Palestinians massacred in Gaza.

Indian police continue what the Myanmar military started: the persecution of the Muslim Rohingya population. Rohingya refugees in India are left with no safe place as India’s notoriously Islamophobic police is persecuting the refugees in Indian-occupied Kashmir, leaving many fearing arrest after a series of police raids targeted locals sheltering Rohingya refugees in the Bathindi area of Jammu city, Kashmir. Police conducted raids in at least 29 locations, confiscating documents and investigating those who have assisted the refugees according to media reports.
According to official data, there are around 13,700 refugees who have settled in the region, mainly Muslims from Bangladesh and Rohingyas from Myanmar. The authorities have claimed that many of the Rohingyas have entered the region through Bangladesh without documentation. Jammu police arrested 50 people following the raids while 10 Rohingyas and Bangladeshi nationals were also held.
More than 730,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled from Myanmar after the country's military, now in power, began a genocidal campaign of massacres, rape and arson against them in August 2017. Most Rohingyas fled to Bangladesh leading to the creation of Kutupalong refugee camp the largest refugee camp in the world close to the border with Myanmar.
The raids reflect the Islamophobic policies of the ruling Hindu nationalist BJP party and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Since the BJP came to power in 2014 it has been promoting a racist discourse against Muslims depicting them as an undesirable group and a threat. This is within the context of territorial disputes with Muslim majority Pakistan over Kashmir and Jammu which are occupied by India. The 2019 Citizenship Amendment Act embedded this discrimination by fast-tracking citizenship for persecuted religious minorities from neighboring countries before 2015 but excluding Muslims.

Watch Ghana’s first openly trans musician, Angel Maxine, slam Ghana’s ruling politicians as they prepare a new law that will ban same-sex relationships. Maxine goes on to bravely threaten to expose the politicians’ hypocrisy as she knows numerous political figures in Ghana who secretly use LGBTQI+ sex workers while at the same time supporting the new homophobic law.
Many mainstream political parties in Africa use homophobia to present themselves as “anti-Western” and nationalist while at the same time selling off their natural resources and land to Western corporations. This homophobia overlooks the Indigenous African traditions of sexual diversity, which have existed for centuries and were repressed by European colonizers.

Chilean President, Gabriel Boric has betrayed the people and decided to leave the country where it was in 2019, along with its Pinochet-era constitution. The referendum rejected the second attempt at changing Chile’s magna carta yesterday. In response, Boric has said that the constitution won't be changed while he’s in power.
This latest referendum was on whether to accept or reject the rewrite of the constitution by the right with some of the rewritten articles being more neo-liberal than those they were supposed to replace. This came after a more left-leaning rewrite last year was also rejected in a campaign in which Boric did not participate. The unprecedented wave of massive protests that rocked the South American country since 2019 swept Boric to power. However, he abandoned them and crushed many Chileans’ hope for a new constitution.

Post-independence Kenya is a land still rooted in disparity. In Nairobi, 65% of the population still lives in informal settlements that sprouted up during the colonial period. These settlements, like Kibera – one of Africa’s biggest slums – were set up to serve the elite in neighboring white areas like Karen.
Residents of Kibera say not much has changed today, except that the white man has been replaced by his black counterparts – a very well-packaged class that learned from the white settlers and is an ally to the colonial front.
As Kenyans reflect on 60 years of independence, watch “Echoes of Empire: British Neocolonialism in Kenya” out now.

Do you know who this iconic quote belongs to? The Brazilian socialist and Workers Party organizer Francisco 'Chico' Mendes was tragically assassinated on this day in 1988 by wealthy landowners wanting to extract resources from the Amazon. As a tireless campaigner for the Amazon rainforest, which is now more threatened than ever, he knew precisely how closely environmental protection and class struggle are linked.
Mendes took militant action to stop the construction of a highly polluting road in the state of Acre and created forest reserves for the sustainable extraction of products for Indigenous communities and farmers. This made him an enemy of local ranchers, loggers, and landowners. On December 22, 1988, Chico Mendes was shot and killed in front of his house.
