🟡 War on Gaza news roundup of the last 24 hours:

🟡 Humanitarian aid has reached UNRWA shelters in northern Gaza for first time since the war erupted last month. In total, almost 1.1 million displaced people are now sheltering in 156 UNRWA installations, which are operating at four times their capacity.

🟡 The World Health Organization (WHO) has documented more than 111,000 acute respiratory infections and 75,000 cases of diarrhea of which 36,000 cases are children under five. Tens of thousands more are suffering from acute respiratory infections, skin rashes, diarrhea, scabies and jaundice in Gaza.

🟡 “Given the living conditions and lack of healthcare, more people could die from disease than bombings” WHO Director General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has warned.

🟡 The ceasefire has been extended for a day after Israel's rejection of Hamas' initial offer to release seven Israeli civilians and three bodies of detainees killed in Israeli airstrikes. Israel agreed to the extension after Hamas revised the proposal to 10 living Israel civilians, two of whom hold Russian citizenship.

🟡At least three people have been killed and 16 wounded in a shooting in Jerusalem that Hamas has claimed responsibility for. The two suspected attackers were also killed, Israeli authorities say. Fascist Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir arrived at the scene and said the shooting showed the importance of distributing weapons among civilians and promised to continue to do so.

🟡 The number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank has risen to 247 Palestinian since October 7, after the the assassination of three leaders of the Jenin resistance group and the killing of a 21 year old Palestinian near Ofer prison prior to the release of the 6th batch of Palestinian hostages. 455 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank since the start of 2023.

The UN Climate Change Conference, or COP, is meeting today in Dubai to discuss climate change. Here are some facts they will likely ignore. Contrary to the usual narrative, the global north is the biggest polluter, responsible for 92% of excess CO2 emissions since 1750. The US has been responsible for a staggering 25% of historical emissions since 1750, while the Global South, effectively half the world, has only been responsible for 8%.

The environmental summit is being held in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, and according to 2021 figures, the UAE has the sixth highest per capita carbon dioxide emissions in the world. The Climate Action Tracker has also rated the UAE's record in tackling climate change as insufficient and its Net Zero target as poor.

According to research by the Centre for Climate Change, the UAE was planning to use meetings at the summit to pitch new oil and gas deals to foreign governments. Sultan al-Jaber, the president-designate at this year's summit, is also a leading figure in UAE state oil company Adnoc. Documents leaked online on Monday showed that Jaber had plans to discuss new oil and gas deals with 15 countries, including China, Brazil, Germany, and India.

🟡 War on Gaza news roundup of the last 24 hours:

🟡 50 days after the start of Israel's ruthless war on Gaza with the stated objective to eliminate the Palestinian resistance, former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak declared that the resistance movement ruling Gaza is far from defeated.

🟡 Israel left premature Palestinian babies left to die after evacuating a Gaza hospital. The five infants were found “dead and in a state of decomposition” in Al-Nasr Hospital after being alone for three weeks

🟡 The Israeli forces violated again the declared ceasefire after bombing coastal areas south and north of the Gaza Strip, killing one farmer and injuring others east of the Al-Maghazi camp.

🟡 The Israeli army is preventing fuel trucks from reaching northern Gaza according to the Palestine Red Crescent.

🟡 For the first time, Palestinian resistance fighters from different factions handed over hostages to the Red Cross in a joint operation as part of the truce agreement. In return, 30 Palestinian prisoners, including 15 children and 15 women, were released from Israeli prisons.

🟡 Armed clashes broke out between Palestinian fighters and the occupation forces invading Jenin city in the West Bank. The Israeli forces surrounded Jenin Hospital preventing doctors from treating or receiving injured people, they also fired randomly at Palestinian residents, killing two children who were 8 and 15 years old respectively.

🟡 At least 35 people were arrested in Israeli overnight raids across the occupied West Bank, raising the total number to 3325 since 7 October.

🟡 War on Gaza news roundup of the last 24 hours:

🟡 Israeli forces have arrested 168 Palestinians across the occupied West Bank since the start of the ceasefire on Friday. In the same period, 150 Palestinian prisoners have been released by Israel under the ceasefire agreement.

🟡 The total death toll from Israel's onslaught on Gaza has exceeded 15,000 people, including over 6,000 children, while thousands of others are still missing under the rubble. Israel has killed 231 Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem since October 7.

🟡 The WHO has warned that more people in the Gaza Strip are at risk of dying from diseases than from bombs if the health system in the enclave does not get back on its feet quickly.

🟡 Leaders from Israel's foreign intelligence agency Mossad and CIA Director William Burns are meeting with Qatar's prime minister in Doha.

🟡 A new UN report reveals that Israeli bombs have destroyed or damaged over 60% of all homes in Gaza.

🟡 Over 700,000 people are still in Gaza City, under heavy Israeli military siege, according to Mayor Yahya Al-Sarraj. The city was and is Israel's focal point, with the densest concentration of air strikes during the war.

🟡 The effort by Gaza's resistance groups to maintain the ceasefire led to a two-day extension under the same conditions as the initial agreement. 20 Israeli hostages will be exchanged for 60 Palestinian prisoners.

🟡 Palestinian resistance fighters treated Israeli hostages "extremely well," said Israeli military correspondent for Israeli Channel 13, Alon Ben David. He also said, "They were not subjected to any violence or insult." Israel has refused to give the media permission to speak to any of the released hostages.

Happy 203rd birthday to Friedrich Engels! We remember his incredible legacy as Karl Marx’s closest friend along with his work as a political theorist, philosopher, journalist, and revolutionary socialist. Engel’s scathing critique of capitalism and the ruling class, as heartless tyrants who prioritize profits over the lives of their workers, is as relevant today as it was over two centuries ago.

His key work The Condition of the Working Class in England (1845) was a brutal exposé of the horrific conditions that the English working class was forced to live as slaves for their masters and the way that the Irish working class was used as a reserve army of labor by the English.

Today he is immortalized in Manchester, the northern English city where he spent so much time with a Soviet-era statue transported from Ukraine after the banning of communist symbols in that country.

🟡 Israel has pounded Gaza with over 40,000 tons of bombs since October 7, according to the Gaza Media Office. Consequently, half of all homes in Gaza, totaling 278,000 residential units, have been either destroyed or damaged.

🟡 The armed wing of the ruling group in Gaza stated that Israel has killed a total of four of its leaders since October 7. Israel's stated war objective is the eradication of the group's command structure, which remains a distant goal.

🟡 In another incident, a large ship linked to Israel was seized off Yemen's coast. While no group has officially claimed responsibility, the Yemeni Ansar Allah movement, aligning itself with the Palestinians in the war, claimed responsibility for previous similar actions.

🟡 The number of Palestinians detained by Israel has risen to at least 3,200 since October 7. The Israeli army continues daily raids on towns and villages across the West Bank, involving mass arrests, armed confrontations, and collective punishment.

Workers' unions and social movements in Argentina rallied yesterday in Buenos Aires in defense of social security policies and public sector jobs, which "libertarian" President Javier Milei says he'll cut.

The march was also a show of strength in the face of comments by Milei promising to crackdown on protest movements that oppose his radical neoliberal reforms. Milei will be sworn in on December 10th, and his incoming cabinet is filled with figures from the former government of Mauricio Macri, the ex-president that saddled the country with giant debts to the IMF.

Unions and social movements played a crucial role in removing Macri from power in 2019; they will need to reorganize to stop the even more extreme neoliberal proposals of Javier Milei.

Yemen was officially declared an independent country on this day 56 years ago.

Yemen's independence day was the conclusion to 4 years of armed struggle led primarily by the leftist National Liberation Front and the Arab nationalist Front for the Liberation of Occupied South Yemen.

From 1963 to 1967 the NLF led an arduous two-pronged struggle against both British colonial forces as well as the feudal sheikhdoms and sultanates in power all across what was then the Federation of South Arabia, a British colonial protectorate.

Throughout November 1967, the British colonial forces gradually evacuated Aden and Southern Yemen, as NLF forces drew closer. Mutinies in the puppet "South Arabia Army" were rampant and frequent, and on the 29th of November 1967, the final agreement for independence was signed in Geneva. The independence agreement took effect the forthcoming day.

Transport workers in São Paulo, Brazil, paralyzed the city yesterday as they went on strike against the right-wing governor’s plan to privatize public transport.

The São Paulo Metro & Rail Workers’ Union led the walkout despite the threat of prosecution after local courts said that metro workers were obliged to continue working, a ruling denounced as ‘authoritarian’ by union leader Camila Lisboa.

Governor Tarcisio de Freitas, former Minister for Infrastructure under Jair Bolsonaro, is pushing the privatization plans. He has already privatized other essential services such as electricity and water. As a Minister, he pushed through a similar plan, privatizing 12 ports and 13 airports.

Unions say that his privatization of electricity has been a disaster and led to city-wide blackouts due to the mass layoffs enforced by the private company Enel, which recently took over the service.

Freitas sees himself as a possible heir to Bolsonaro and the far-right politics he represented. He’s hoping to use his position as governor to launch himself for a possible election run, though mass protests and strikes could jeopardize that.

Watch this anti-Zionist Orthodox Jew explain, "The state of Israel should come to an end [...] We don't support a two-state solution at all" at a recent pro-Palestine demonstration in London. Jewish anti-Zionists cover a broad political and religious spectrum. Across continents, Jewish activists are organizing protests against Israel in Gaza as part of the "Not in My Name" campaign.

The political ideology of Zionism led to the establishment of a Jewish nation-state in historic Palestine. In 1948, 750,000 Palestinians were expelled, and their homes and property were confiscated. In 1967, Israel occupied what is now known as the Occupied Palestinian Territories, forcing millions of people under military rule.

Colombians in the rural Cauca region chased away National Army soldiers after their armed clash with leftist FARC guerrilla forces in the area. The soldiers were eventually forced to abandon their positions.

🟡 War on Gaza news roundup of the last 24 hours:

🟡 At least 86% of the 14,800+ people killed in Gaza since October 7 are non-combatants, the Israeli military has said. The occupation force estimates it has killed between 1,000 and 2,000 Palestinian fighters so far and said that Gaza's ruling
force is 30,000 strong.

🟡 Palestinians released from Israeli prisons by resistance forces as part of the hostage prisoner exchange reported severe abuse and torture as well as being placed in solitary confinement.

🟡 The third round of hostage handovers to the International Red Cross took place last night in the center of Gaza City. The armed fighters of the Gaza ruling group described the event as proof that they were still in control of the besieged city.

🟡 The US Central Command reported that two ballistic missiles were launched from areas controlled by the Houthis in Yemen towards a US naval destroyer in the Gulf of Aden. Earlier, Yemen's Houthis threatened to target 'any military equipment' protecting Israeli ships.

🟡 Egypt, Qatar, and the US endorse negotiations initiated by Gaza's resistance groups towards extending the four-day ceasefire in exchange for more hostages. Protests against a French-Chinese led project to build the longest heated oil pipeline in the world have continued in Uganda and Tanzania this week.

The construction of the $5 billion East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) is causing massive environmental destruction and displacing thousands of families along the 1,443 km route from Uganda's border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to Tanzania.

The mega-project is spearheaded by France's TotalEnergies and the Chinese state owned company CNOOC.

The "Stop EACOP" campaign says the pipeline "threatens one of the most ecologically diverse and wildlife-rich regions of the world" and that it "would run through numerous important habitats and nature reserves – home to a number of iconic and endangered animals".

The pipeline will also run through Lake Victoria, Africa's largest lake, which millions rely on for water and farming. A leak could destroy this vital water resource.

Campaigners estimate that EACOP will displace 100,000 people. Thousands have already being kicked off their land with insufficient compensation from the projects' backers.

Anti-EACOP protests mostly been held at Chinese embassies in Uganda, Tanzania, and the DRC.

Here is a glimpse inside the ongoing hostage handover from Palestinian fighters to the International Red Cross. The footage captures farewells between the militants and the hostages, whose good health condition was confirmed by health officials.

Two phases of handovers have already been completed, and a third handover is eagerly anticipated to take place later on November 26. Tensions rose during the second handover yesterday, initially withheld by the Palestinian side because Israel violated the terms of the agreement.

The truce agreement, negotiated by the resistance, involves the exchange of 50 Israeli hostages for 150 Palestinian women and children held in Israeli prisons due to their struggle against the occupation. The political bureau of the Gaza ruling group announced its readiness to release all of the hostages in exchange for all Palestinian prisoners.
