Amnesty International is calling to investigate the massacres of Alawites in Syria as war crimes.
Violence against minority groups, especially Alawites, has surged from the coastal area to Damascus since self-declared president Ahmed al-Sharaa took power. After collecting testimonies and analyzing data, Amnesty today denounced the killing of more than 100 civilians, including women and children, in the city of Banias by HTS-affiliated armed groups. Among the various documented acts of violence, Amnesty reports that families of victims were forced by authorities to bury their loved ones in mass graves. Amnesty calls for an independent investigation, stating that “the perpetrators of this horrifying wave of brutal mass killings must be held accountable.”

Despite the ongoing persecution of students in the US, Columbia once again rose up in protest. This time, it was in solidarity with Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian student activist detained by immigration authorities without charge due to his pro-Palestine activism.
The protest began during the day, with a group of Jewish students locking themselves to the campus gates. Then, protesters gathered to chant in support of Khalil. The Trump government has already revoked student visas for over 300 people as punishment for their involvement in pro-Palestine protests.

Israel is establishing a new corridor in the Gaza Strip, isolating and cutting off the city of Rafah. The “Morag corridor,” referred to by Netanyahu as the “second Philadelphi corridor,” follows the original Philadelphi corridor that separates Gaza from Egypt, from which Israel was supposed to withdraw under January’s ceasefire terms.
The Morag corridor, which divides Rafah from Khan Younis, is named after an Israeli settlement evacuated during Israel’s 2005 withdrawal. The creation of the Morag corridor, along with the occupation of the Netzarim corridor, will divide the Gaza Strip into three parts.
Israel’s ongoing displacement orders are forcing Palestinians toward central Gaza. The aim is to intensify the military pressure on Gaza with continuous displacement orders, an advancing ground invasion, and ongoing bombings. Over 100 people were killed in the past 24 hours. On Monday, Israel announced its plan to occupy 25 percent of Gaza within two to three weeks.

The global trade system is collapsing under the weight of its own contradictions.
After decades of promoting free markets, the US is turning to protectionism as Trump announces sweeping new tariffs. A 10% baseline will apply to all imports starting April 5. Sixty "worst offenders," including China with a combined rate of 54 % and the European Union with 20%, will face even higher rates beginning April 9. A separate 25% tariff on all foreign-made cars takes immediate effect.
Trump declared a national emergency to justify the move, bypassing Congress. He accused longtime allies like the EU of "ripping off" the United States. In response, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen condemned the decision and announced a 26 billion euro counter-package to protect European industries.
Ironically, most goods from Canada and Mexico are exempt from these tariffs, as Trump will respect the USMCA trade deal, following tough retaliatory action from both countries in recent months.
🟡 BREAKING: Hungary is quitting the ICC on the same day Netanyahu lands in Budapest. The visit is Netanyahu’s first trip to Europe since 2023 and signals a clear rejection of the international arrest warrant issued over war crimes in Gaza.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban invited Netanyahu last November, just one day after the ICC announced the charges. Hungary had already refused to enforce the warrant. Now it plans to leave the court entirely.
“Hungary exits the International Criminal Court. The government will initiate the withdrawal procedure on Thursday, in accordance with the constitutional and international legal framework,” posted Gergely Gulyás, Orbán’s chief of staff, on social media.
Brazilians protested yesterday to commemorate 61 years since the US-backed military coup of 1964. The march is an annual event to remember the atrocities committed during Brazil's military dictatorship and to denounce ongoing state violence.
Mothers and relatives of young victims of police violence led the procession, carrying photos and mementos of their loved ones. One mother held the blood-stained school uniform of her 14-year-old son, Marcos Vinicius da Silva, who was killed in 2018 during a police operation in Rio de Janeiro.
This year’s march, called the “Parade to Postpone the End of the World,” was inspired by Indigenous writer Ailton Krenak’s book Ideas to Postpone the End of the World. The event also highlighted issues such as Indigenous land rights, solidarity with the Palestinian people, and opposition to amnesty for participants in the January 8th pro-Bolsonaro coup attempt.

“A brutal crime committed by the US and Israel.” The US is deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure and residences in Yemen. At least 61 people have been killed since the US-led aggression began with the support of Gulf countries, including Qatar.
During the night, the US targeted a water management facility in the Hodeidah region, killing at least four people. The US-led assault, which started on March 15, aims to weaken Yemen's support for the Palestinian people, end the maritime blockade, and halt attacks on Israel.
Trump has issued new threats to Yemen and Iran, accusing them, along with Israel, of supplying the Yemeni Armed Forces with weapons used to target shipping in the Red Sea. Despite Trump’s claim that “the Houthis have been decimated” by the airstrike campaign, the Yemeni Armed Forces have documented the downing of another US drone with a locally manufactured missile.

🟡 BREAKING: Israel has bombed an UNRWA clinic in Jabalia Camp, northern Gaza Strip. At least 8 people were killed, including 3 children.
Israel continues to relentlessly bomb the besieged strip, with several massacres documented overnight. Meanwhile, displacement orders continue as the Israeli ground assault expands. The military objective is to occupy and control 25 percent of the Gaza Strip.
People torn to pieces, 900kg US-made bombs dropped, 100 children killed or maimed each day, constant displacement orders, and severe hunger—this is what the besieged Gaza Strip looks like today.
The house of Mohamed Al-Bardawil, a Palestinian journalist, was targeted during the night, killing Mohamed, his wife, and their three children. Since October 2023, Israel has killed at least 209 journalists in Gaza, making it the most dangerous region in the world for journalists in 2024.
UNICEF has released a new statement condemning the killing and maiming of around 100 children per day since Israel broke the ceasefire. The Israeli blockade of humanitarian aid is pushing Gaza's healthcare system to the brink of collapse, along with food and aid distribution. Today, every bakery in the Gaza Strip has closed due to a critical shortage of flour and diesel.

Haiti’s crisis has only worsened since the US-funded intervention by Kenyan troops began last year. Thousands are being displaced in the town of Mirebalais, which has descended into chaos after a coordinated gang assault by the "Viv Ansanm" coalition.
While most of Haiti’s recent violence has been concentrated in the capital, this marks a shift as unrest spreads to previously more stable regions. Armed men seized the police station and prison in Mirebalais, freeing over 530 inmates and sparking mass panic. The assault, which began the night of March 30–31, also targeted the local hospital and other institutions, leaving the town under gang.
Thousands of families have been forced to flee to nearby towns, and many are now escaping across the Artibonite River. Despite prior warnings, authorities failed to act. The Haitian National Police and the US-funded Kenyan troops were left powerless in the face of growing violence from the criminal groups they promised to combat.

Germany immigration authorities are set to deport four foreign students for their involvement in pro-Palestine protests. The country is taking lessons from Trump, who revoked over 300 student visas for criticizing Israel.
Despite no criminal convictions, the four deportation orders cite participation in demonstrations such as a sit-in at Berlin’s central train station, a road blockade, and the occupation of a building at the Free University of Berlin.
All had a legal right to be in Germany. Three are EU nationals, and one is from the US. Legal experts question the proportionality, noting German migration law allows deportation without conviction if deemed necessary, but the threat must be serious. These individuals are being targeted for their political views.
Trump led the way in using deportation to punish critics of Israel. The most high-profile case is Mahmoud Khalil, a student protest leader detained without charges despite being a green card holder.

On this day in 1971, German communist Monika Ertl assassinated Roberto Quintanilla, the Bolivian officer responsible for Che Guevara’s execution.
Ertl was the daughter of a Nazi propagandist who fled to Bolivia. She grew up among Nazi, including Gestapo chief Klaus Barbie, aka the "Butcher of Lyon", who director Kevin Macdonald alleges helped orchestrate Che’s murder. Monika broke from her fascist family and embraced the Communist cause. Moved by Che’s death in 1967, she joined the National Liberation Army of Bolivia (ELN), which Che had led.
Using the name “Imilla”, she worked with Che’s comrades to hunt down his killer. In 1971, she found Pereira in Hamburg. She shot him three times in the chest. As she fled, she left a purse, wig, revolver, and a note: “Victory or Death – ELN”.
The killing was traced to her. The US-backed Bolivian regime put a $20,000 bounty on her. In 1973, CIA-trained units ambushed and killed her in La Paz. Her body was never found. She was nicknamed “the avenger of Che”.
On Alexandra Kollontai’s birthday, we remember her legacy with two of her most enduring quotes.

Netanyahu explicitly admits that the goal in Gaza is to eradicate the Palestinian population.
Israel announced last night that it has intensified the so-called “military pressure” on the Gaza Strip, consisting of massive bombings, the killing of over 100 people per day, mass graves, ground invasions, the blockade of humanitarian aid, and continuous displacement orders.
While congratulating the US for the ongoing bombings in Yemen, Netanyahu reiterates that negotiations will only take place under fire. Last week, the Palestinian resistance accepted proposals from Qatari and Egyptian mediators, which involved the release of five hostages each week in exchange for a truce. Yet, Netanyahu rejected the offer and put forward a new one without providing any guarantees of compliance—especially considering the ongoing violations in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and the West Bank.

“Qatar is not an enemy state.” — Listen to Netanyahu praising Qatar’s role and exposing the relations between the country and Israeli officials.
Two of Netanyahu’s close associates were arrested recently, accused of accepting large sums to enhance Qatar’s image in Israel. Despite lacking formal diplomatic ties, Israel and Qatar are close allies. In the past, Qatar funded Netanyahu and his Likud party with dozens of million of dollars to promote Qatari policies and continued exporting Qatari gas to Israel despite the genocide in Gaza.

Massive protests took place across Haiti yesterday, calling for the people to arm themselves against organized criminal groups.
Protesters made it clear that the Haitian police, as well as the US-funded foreign intervention, have been a total failure.
Since foreign troops arrived, they have not taken back control of the capital, and now gang violence has spread to other regions of the country that were previously unaffected.

Riot police brutally beat students protesting education budget cuts in Paris today, deploying tear gas and charging with batons. Demonstrators chanted: "Borne, give the money back!", targeting Education Minister Élisabeth Borne.
The protest condemned the French government's austerity measures severely impacting public education, with some students also burning a Tesla and a US flag in a symbolic anti-capitalist gesture.
The 2025 school year looks disastrous for Paris’ public education: 223 classes are set to close—170 in primary and 42 in secondary—alongside 262 teacher job cuts. These deep cuts fuel growing anger among students and educators already mobilizing against austerity.

Israel has bombed Syria several times, targeting the scientific research facility in Damascus, Hama military airport, and the T4 air base in Homs. Israeli Army Radio stated the attacks aimed to “warn Turkish President Erdogan.” The airstrikes coincided with an attempted Israeli incursion into Dara'a, repelled by self-organized armed citizens, leaving at least nine dead.
The warning to Türkiye follows reports of Ankara’s plans to control and expand the T4 airbase, equipping it with a complex defense system. In February, Turkish media reported plans to establish two new military bases in Syria, sign a joint defense agreement, and back the formation of a Syrian air force.
Israeli raids on Hama Air Base have surpassed 15, completely destroying it. Israeli Defense Minister Katz stated the attacks on Syria were intended as a warning to prevent forces hostile to Israel from entering Syria. The HTS-led government only issued statements of condemnation.

On this day 77 years ago, Koreans on the island of Jeju rose up against the division of Korea and the establishment of the Republic of Korea (ROK, commonly referred to as South Korea). In response, the nascent ROK proceeded to massacre 20% of the island’s population with the help of the US—an event largely left out of the mainstream narrative.

The US is amassing warplanes and aircraft carriers in Diego Garcia, a US-UK base in the Indian Ocean, 2,400 miles from Iran. At least 6 B-2 bombers, capable of carrying 30k-pound bunker buster bombs and nuclear munitions, are stationed there.
The US has over 19 military bases across the region, including Al Udeid in Qatar. Yesterday, significant US aircraft movement was recorded between Ramstein, Germany, and Al Udeid, currently used to attack Yemen and potentially against Iran.
On Sunday, Trump threatened Iran with bombings “like they have never seen before” and further sanctions if Tehran doesn’t agree to a deal on its nuclear program. Iran’s President Pezeshkian remarked that Iran hasn’t avoided negotiations, with a response to the US sent through Oman.
Iran signed the JCPOA in 2015 with world powers, but Trump withdrew in 2018, fueling Iran’s distrust. A January US report warned of an Israeli strike on Iran by mid-2025 with US support, risking broader regional conflict.

Germany’s ruling parties are advancing a law that turns citizenship into a political test. A draft seen by DW would allow the state to revoke the passports of dual nationals accused of being “terror supporters, antisemites, or extremists” — without clearly defining what any of those terms mean.
Their political meaning, however, is already in motion. Under Germany’s adoption of the IHRA framework, “antisemitism” includes critics of Israel. “Extremism,” rooted in constitutional doctrine, is used to monitor those seen as threatening the liberal order — including socialists, communists, and pro-Palestinian movements. “terror supporter” now applies to those accused not of violence, but of association: a slogan, a march, a post.
The last time Germany used citizenship revocation this way, it was under Nazi law. This applies to dual nationals — but the precedent is clear: the state is redrawing the line around who counts as truly German.

Israel is annexing more land in the West Bank through the establishment of new settlements, the displacement of Palestinians, and the construction of a new barrier along the Jordanian border.
During a tour of the West Bank, Defense Minister Katz and Knesset Member Smotrich announced plans for 28 new settlements. In the first three months of 2025, Israel approved a record number of construction plans in illegal settlements, surpassing the total approved throughout 2024.
Through its military operation "Iron Wall," Israel is reshaping the map of the West Bank, displacing over 40,000 Palestinians—the largest displacement since 1967. The Israeli army is bulldozing and demolishing vast areas, radically altering the architectural structure of Palestinian camps and cities.
In June, Israel will begin building a long-promised fence along the Jordanian border, stretching from near the Golan Heights to north of Eilat, aimed at stopping weapons smuggling and supporting new town development.
Argentina is set to receive yet another multi-billion dollar IMF bailout. Despite promising to cut public spending to reduce debt, neo-liberal President Javier Milei is now borrowing even more due to dangerously low levels of foreign currency reserves.
The country will receive a bailout of $20 billion, a large increase on its existing $41 billion debt with the IMF, which is already the largest outstanding debt of any country in the world, ranking above Ukraine and Egypt.
The IMF director has said they’re happy to lend more to Argentina, commenting yesterday that, “It's a reasonable request. They've earned it, given their performance,” in reference to Milei’s brutal austerity program that has destroyed the country’s public health service, education system, and pensions system.

Israel, Qatar, the UAE, and Bahrain are taking part in a joint military exercise in Greece. The Iniochos 25 air drill, running from March 31 to April 11, involves at least 14 countries. The drills aim to simulate various scenarios, including joint air combat and operational coordination.
Iniochos 2025 marks Qatar's first participation with Israel, further signaling normalization of ties despite the Gaza war. Blumenthal, KAN military correspondent, reported that Israel was surprised by the full list of participants on the Hellenic Air Force's website, especially after requesting confidentiality about its and Qatar's involvement.
Qatar-Israel relations are under investigation. Netanyahu's aides are accused of accepting large sums to improve Qatar's image in Israel. Yesterday, Yonatan Urich and Eli Feldstein were arrested. No details have been disclosed due to a court gag order.

“Israel is deceitful and treacherous, and it doesn't honor any agreement.” Israel bombed Beirut again overnight, killing at least 4 people.
Israeli jets bombed Beirut’s Dahyeih suburb, targeting a residential building. The strike, carried out without warning, killed at least 4 people and injured several others. This is the second time in less than a week that Israel has bombed Beirut, violating the ceasefire. Naim Qassem, Hezbollah leader, called the Israeli attacks on Lebanon unacceptable, emphasizing that they will not stand idly by.
The Israeli army claimed the target was an alleged Hezbollah member in contact with Palestinian resistance factions. Over 115 people have been killed since Israel and Lebanon signed a ceasefire in November 2024. Israel continues to occupy Lebanese land, and over 1,500 violations have occurred with full approval from the US.

“Prison for Bolsonaro!” Large rallies erupted across Brazil’s major cities as protesters demanded accountability from far-right ex-President Jair Bolsonaro for his role in the 2023 coup attempt against President Lula.
Chants of “No Amnesty!” and “Prison for Bolsonaro!” echoed through the marches. Bolsonaro has already been charged by Brazilian courts and faces potential prison time if convicted. The charges stem from the January 8, 2023 riots, when far-right supporters attempted to storm Congress and the Presidential Palace in an effort to overturn Lula’s election victory.

Bolivian police have shot and killed Indigenous leader Jhonny Cruz, the Youth Secretary of the Confederation of Rural Peasant Workers of Bolivia. Evo Morales confirmed the news yesterday, as Cruz was a member of the coca growers’ union led by Morales.
The incident took place last Wednesday, when Cruz had an altercation with police officers, but his identity was only confirmed yesterday. Police say that Cruz was armed and resisted arrest — a claim his family and friends deny. Morales suspects foul play and believes it could be part of a strategy to intimidate Indigenous groups and unions in the area who support him in the ongoing internal faction fight against President Luis Arce.
Cruz was a close ally of Evo Morales and an outspoken critic of Luis Arce’s government, which he accused of betraying the Movement Towards Socialism party.

As survivors dig through the rubble of a 7.7-magnitude earthquake that killed over 1,700 people, Myanmar’s military is bombing them from the sky. The UN condemned the attacks as “completely outrageous and unacceptable.”
Airstrikes hit resistance-held areas just hours after the quake, according to ethnic armed groups and humanitarian workers. The Karen National Union, one of Myanmar’s oldest ethnic armies, reports that the military “continues to carry out airstrikes targeting civilian areas, even as the population suffers tremendously from the earthquake.”
The military seized power in a 2021 coup, sparking a mass resistance movement. Despite a ceasefire declared by the opposition National Unity Government to allow aid, the junta continues its assaults.
