Security forces of the Palestinian Authority (PA) clamped down on protesters against US Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s visit to the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah and his meeting with PA leader Mahmoud Abbas. Security forces have arrested multiple protesters as they attempted to march towards the PA headquarters.
During Blinken’s latest visit to the Middle East, it became clear that the US was attempting to play different sides to secure their interests amid rising regional tensions. While in Tel Aviv, he called the genocide charges against Israel “meritless” and distracting; when meeting with Abbas, he discussed the PA’s role in the future of Gaza after stating that the US opposes the forcible displacement of Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank.
Blinken has previously stated that the US envisions PA rule over Gaza, despite the PA being hugely unpopular among Palestinians due to their ineffectiveness in representing Palestinians and effectively being an Israeli proxy. Support for Abbas dropped significantly, with demand for his resignation among Palestinians rising to around 90%, and even higher in the West Bank, as revealed by a recent poll by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research (PSR). The same is true for the trust in the PA as a whole, as demand for its dissolution rose to nearly 60%, the highest percentage ever recorded in PSR polls.

South Africa's ICJ case against Israel, for violation of the genocide convention, is a historic opportunity to expose the fanatically violent character of the Israeli state and heap pressure on their western backers. A new migrant caravan has set off from southern Mexico, consisting of thousands of people who set out on foot after being denied transit visas by Mexican authorities. The group formed in the area of Arriaga, Chiapas state.
This closely follows another migrant caravan at the end of December 2023, the largest of the year, consisting of 10,000 people and labelled the “poverty exodus.”
In both cases, migrants had been waiting for an extended period at Mexico’s southern border in the hope of obtaining a transit visa, in some cases promised to them by lawyers and other scammers who prey on those waiting desperately.
However, in line with Mexico’s cooperation with the US in stopping migrants from reaching their border, local authorities have denied most of these requests, forcing those gathered to march through on foot.
Though Mexico is collaborating with the US to enforce anti-migrant policies, President AMLO has tried to raise the issue of US sanctions on Cuba and Venezuela being a driver of this mass movement of people, as well as the need for developmental policies in other countries that are experiencing an exodus of people.
The US has nevertheless ignored this and persisted in its interventionist policies in Latin America, as well as its sponsorship of right-wing governments that have been generating poverty and, in turn, generating mass migration.

Hundreds of fascists marched in Italy doing the Roman salute used by the fascist leader Benito Mussolini until his death in 1945. The mob gathered on the anniversary of a far-left ambush attack against the youth organization of the far-right Italian Social Movement (MSI) party, the de facto successor party to Mussolini’s regime.
The attack by militant revolutionaries in 1978 left two dead outside the MSI headquarters during the violent power struggle period between communist and fascist groups, dubbed “the years of lead.” Another member of the MSI youth wing died in the ensuing riots on the same day.
The recent ceremony was also attended by local authorities, including Francesco Rocca, president of the Lazio region, and Miguel Gotor, the Councilor for Culture. Leaders of the ruling far-right Brothers of Italy party also expressed their support for the tribute.
Italy’s current Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, also took her first political steps in the MSI youth movement at the age of just 15. Her mother was also active in the MSI and later joined its successor party, National Alliance.

Did you know that a white South African communist and legendary anti-Apartheid activist was Nelson Mandela's housing minister? 29 years ago today Joe Slovo died from cancer at the age of 68. A long-time comrade of Nelson Mandela he dedicated his life to the struggle against Apartheid and racism while fighting for a socialist revolution that would end racial and class inequality in South Africa. Slovo also supported Palestinian resistance against Israeli occupation.
In 1961 he helped found uMkhonto we Sizwe, the armed wing of the African National Congress (ANC) which would lead the resistance against Apartheid. Due to political persecution from the Apartheid government, Slovo was forced into exile to the United Kingdom, Angola, Mozambique, and Zambia. He returned to South Africa in 1990 and following the 1994 elections was appointed minister of housing in Nelson Mandela's post-apartheid government.

Students in São Paulo, Brazil, are leading protests against a hike in metro fares signed by the local right-wing governor. This is part of broader plans to privatize public transport in São Paulo, something transport workers were mobilizing against a few weeks ago, paralyzing the city as they went on strike. The plans will raise fares from R$ 4.40 to R$ 5.
Governor Tarcísio de Freitas, former Minister for Infrastructure under former far-right President Jair Bolsonaro, has already privatized other services such as electricity and water. During Bolsonaro’s rule, he pushed through a similar plan, privatizing 12 ports and 13 airports.
Unions say that selling off electricity has been a disaster and led to multiple city-wide blackouts due to the mass layoffs enforced by the private company Enel, which recently took over the service.
Freitas sees himself as a possible heir to Bolsonaro and the far-right politics he represented. He’s hoping to use his position as governor to launch himself for a possible election run, though mass protests and strikes could jeopardize that.

The CPI(M) stands for a reformist path to power, while in stark contrast, the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist) has taken the path of armed guerrilla struggle.
In the presidential race, India's left forces have suffered defeat after defeat in recent years, while the Hindu-nationalist Party led by Narendra Modi has been in power for almost a decade.
The CPI(M)'s last remaining stronghold is Kerala, in southern India, where the communists first came to power in the late 1950s. In terms of literacy rate, social status of women, economic development, and other social factors, Kerala ranks among the top states in India.
Meanwhile, the Indian state's official announcement that it would defeat the Maoist guerrillas by 2023, who maintain de facto authority in parts of eastern India, the so-called "red corridor," has failed.
Twitter has launched a massive purge against large accounts that have posted in support of Palestine. The purge has taken well-known activists, bloggers, podcasts, journalists such as Alan Mcleod, and even some from critical mainstream outlets like the Intercept’s Ken Klippenstein and Steven Zetti of the Texas Observer.
Despite fashioning himself as a kind of “rebel” and guardian of free speech, Elon Musk has colluded with Western governments to eliminate any opposition to issues of significant concern for the foreign policy establishments. Whether it’s Ukraine or Israel, Musk has used his platform to crush any dissent or questioning of established narratives.
However, it’s not just Twitter. Our pages on Meta are currently censored, and our TikTok account has been geo-blocked, meaning that our European followers cannot see any of our content.

Israel’s bloody war on the Gaza Strip leaves not only humans starving but also animals. In one of the last few zoos left in the Gaza Strip, zookeepers in Rafah city struggle to save the remaining animals from starvation. With only extremely limited supplies left for Gaza’s human population, the animals are left with little to nothing. In the zoo in Rafah, two lion cubs, four monkeys, and several birds have died in the past weeks while the remaining rest are struggling for their lives. “The animals barely survive. The situation is indescribably tragic,” said one of the zookeepers.
There used to be six zoos in total in Gaza, housing various animals, most of which were smuggled in from Egypt through underground tunnels before 2007. When Israel’s blockade of the Gaza Strip began in 2007, caring for and providing for the animals became even more challenging. Many decided to close their zoos and transfer the animals to Jordan or Egypt, where they could receive better care. Some of the zoos, including their animals, were attacked in previous Israeli aggression against Gaza.
With the ever-increasing severe shortage of food, water, and medical supplies as Israel’s relentless war drags on, entering its 13th week, it’s uncertain how many of Gaza’s animals will survive.

With the participation of the Yemeni Air Force and the first public sighting of its SU-22 fighter bomber, around a million people attended another massive protest in solidarity with Palestine in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa. Under the slogan “the blood of the free on the path to victory,” Yemenis marched through the capital. It was widely assumed that Saudi Arabia had succeeded in disabling the Yemeni Air Force’s capabilities in early March 2015, proving that Ansarallah’s military capabilities are likely much bigger than previously expected.
Similar protests have taken place across Yemen after Ansarallah commander Abdul-Malik al-Houthi called on the Yemeni people to go out in massive marches in support of the Palestinian people.
Since October 7 and the beginning of Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip, Yemen has become an increasingly effective and influential front against Israel, starting with ballistic and cruise missile and drone attacks, to the poignant impact on the Israeli economy and trade by preventing Israeli-linked ships and ships heading for occupied Palestine from passing through the Arabian Sea, the Gulf of Aden, the Bab Al-Mandab Strait, and the Red Sea.
With the establishment of a US naval task force in the area and the targeting of naval Ansarallah troops, the risk of a more significant confrontation erupting becomes ever closer.
