I believe that this "homeless man" was a fed/cop asset or put there by an NGO in league with the system. The intention being to provoke as many members of WA into committing a gang assault that goes past the point of any reasonable person's understanding of self-defense. This would allow them to make a mass arrest, give them propaganda to use in the media, and give the politicians ammo to ban WA. I bet they had someone filming a much clearer video, and I bet they ditched it when the only footage they got was of Sewell defending himself against an attacker.
As it currently stands, the system needs something they can use in the media to recast the image of the WA guys. Simple arrests and slam pieces won't cut it. Every time WA pulls off a successful action, gives a talk on a podcast, or throws a successful event, they grow larger. Every time WA is arrested or faces political persecution with unshakable determination, they grow larger. There is no way to defeat WA if they maintain their current trajectory.
If WA gains support when they are left alone AND when they are politically persecuted, that leaves the system one option. They can't simply put WA members in bad legal situations anymore. Every time they do that, the WA members face it bravely, and their support amongst the Australian people grows. They have to engineer a situation where WA makes THEMSELVES look bad by acting like an undisciplined gang of thugs. A tactic subversives have used against rising NS movements many times before.
It is a testament to the discipline and training of the WA members that they did not break ranks to jump that man. They allowed Thomas to handle it himself (knowing he is quite capable) and avoided the trap. If it was a planned op, it has now backfired and turned into yet another clear example of the Australian system politically persecuting Thomas. We are certain Thomas will face this persecution with the same steadfast resilience he has in the past. We expect Michael will face his persecution for posting a picture online with the same resolve. You can see in this footage that the homeless junkie runs up and spits on Sewell. Sewell turns to face the parasite, who immediately begins throwing punches.
