Request My uncle asked me this probability question and I can’t quite get it.
Pretty simple, let’s say you have a fair coin and when you flip it, there’s a 50% chance of landing on heads or 50% chance of landing on tails.
How many coins do I need to flip three times in a row to guarantee at least one of the coins lands on heads three times in a row?

Request Electromagnetic Snowboard Boots?
Just coming back from my first snowboarding trip since 7 years, and my main annoyance is the same as it always was; strapping in after the lift is a pain in the behind.
Sci-fi shows feature magnetic boots for EV walks, and magnets are cool.
So I am wondering; how much power would be needed to maintain electromagnetic adhesion between boots and a board?
Let’s assume the board has integrated panels of a size, shape and material so that a boot with one or more electromagnets has something to hold on to, and let’s assume there are boot-shaped “ridges” on the board that the boot bottom fits into so it doesn’t slide horizontally on the board.
How much power is needed to maintain “mag-lock”? How much of a battery would you need to be attached an hour? Let’s assume no jumping, but just carving down red slopes at max 80 kilometers per hour. (I myself stick to blue at 60, but I would like some room to grow).
This is more physics than math, but it’s the weekend right?
