Tonkeeper goes open source
Tonkeeper is switching to open source development process. Today we announce our open source strategy and our master plan for security architecture. Read below for more details on how we will engage with the developers, security researchers and the wider TON community going forward. Let’s go!

A quick update on TON DNS: how it works, how it’s supported in Tonkeeper and what to expect in the future updates.
Sadly, our initial plan to support TON DNS in time for auction did not work out due to a dispute with AppStore and subsequent delays in development process. Read the details in our previous article. The discussion with Apple is not over yet, but we continue to improve Tonkeeper nonetheless.
Using domain names
This is the easiest: simply enter the .ton name in the address field; Tonkeeper will find its address on the blockchain and then make a transaction to that address.
In the future TON DNS will be used for authenticating apps and services. To do that we are working on the second edition of TON Connect 2.0 that will offer a simpler and more robust authentication and interaction with Dapps thanks to TON DNS and other improvements.
Buying a domain name
TON DNS is a decentralized name system. Anyone can own any number of names and transfer than as a regular NFT item.
Each name starts its life on an open auction. You can read the rules here: https://telegra.ph/TON-DNS-06-30. To get a name from an auction you simply send a regular TON payment to an address of the auction smart contract.
Getting a name into your wallet
After winning the auction the name remains on the auction contract. In order to make use of it, you need to move it to your wallet and attach your wallet address to it.
In the latest update 2.5.2 domain names that you won on the auction are displayed on your balance even if they are still owned by the auction contract. This is convenient, but is not enough to use them. That’s why “Transfer NFT” button is disabled.
In the upcoming update 2.6 you will find a button to link your domain name to the wallet: it will move the token onto your balance and attach the wallet address to it.
Next steps
In the subsequent updates we plan to expand support for DNS auctions to make it easy to make bets and manage domain names directly in Tonkeeper. Stay tuned!
🎉 Heyo, another Tonkeeper update is here. We’ve got a couple of nice features for you in this release.
First: Tonkeeper UI can now be customized with Ton Diamonds. Select “Appearance” in the settings and choose one of the diamonds. If you don’t have any you may instantly buy one on the marketplace.
Second: you can now transfer NFTs to other wallets directly from the app. Thinking of sending an NFT as a gift to your friend? Now it takes a single tap.
🎟️ Tokens in Tonkeeper
Tonkeeper now supports tokens!
There are three kinds of assets on The Open Network: Toncoin, NFTs, and fungible tokens. Recently, we have added NFTs to Tonkeeper: nonfungible collectibles that could represent identity, implement access control, etc. Today, we added support for fungible tokens. Unlike NFTs, they can be used for payments and regularly traded on exchanges. Tokens are the foundation of decentralized markets, which have seen explosive growth on TON.
Using tokens with Tonkeeper is easy. All of your tokens are displayed on your balance automatically. For each token, you can see its transaction history and send it to any other wallet. To receive tokens, simply show your wallet address or QR code.
Note that the network fee is still paid in Toncoin, so make sure to have some on your balance to be able to transfer NFTs and tokens. If you have too many tokens, you can hide some of them by going to the settings.
Speaking of settings — Tonkeeper now sends notifications about incoming transfers. You may turn them on in the settings after you update to Tonkeeper 2.4.

End-to-end security with TON Connect
Blockchains directly enable people to control their financial assets by using a so-called “non-custodial” or “unhosted” wallet: an application that keeps a cryptographic key securely on your device. This key is used to authorize transfers of coins and tokens, protecting your account from unexpected or fraudulent charges. Your account exists solely on the blockchain and can be accessed over open protocols using any wallet the same way you can surf the internet with any compatible browser app.
There is a concept of “end-to-end encryption” in messengers that works thanks to personal control over cryptographic keys. We at Tonkeeper want to extend this idea towards “end-to-end security” and bring it to many more applications in the TON ecosystem. We want most services to operate in a non-custodial manner, such as getgems.io, where users never have to blindly trust the service to perform operations correctly on their behalf.
This is how it works
First, you log into the service with your wallet. No more emails, passwords, entering two-factor authentication codes, solving captchas, and other hassles. You register and login with one click.
Second, if the service needs to remember your personal information — e.g., credit card number — it will encrypt it with the special encryption key that’s only available on the client’s side. If someone hacks the database, they will find nothing more than gibberish — no more stolen identities and compromised databases of user records.
Lastly, if the service lets you do something on a blockchain, such as voting in a decentralized organization or selling NFTs, your wallet will be your guardian. The service will prepare transaction details and send them over to your wallet, where you approve that exact action. If anything wrong happens on the service or it is hijacked by hackers, your wallet will be unable to be tricked into doing something without your permission.
To achieve this, we are working on a set of open standards to propose to the TON community, and today, we’re announcing the launch of experimental support for the first protocol in that suite: TON Connect.
Introducing TON Connect
TON Connect is a way to register and log in to any service without passwords or third-party accounts. TON Connect works in one click, respects your privacy, and is designed as a simple and open standard. We encourage all wallets and services to implement it.
There are two ways to sign in:
1. On mobile: Click a “Log in with TON” button.
2. On desktop: Scan a QR code with Tonkeeper.
In both cases, Tonkeeper will show you a confirmation panel, tap “Log in” and you’re in!
TON Connect is supported in Tonkeeper 2.2 on iOS and Android.
Advantages of TON Connect
1. It’s the easiest way to create an account and log in: just one click in the app, and in a second, you’re authenticated.
2. Security: Your personal data is not shared with the service, and there are no passwords to be compromised. Services often don’t have to bother you with two-factor authentication: Your wallet is already a two-factor device with your physical access to it and PIN protection.
3. Privacy: Tonkeeper generates a unique identifier for each service to minimize risks of cross-site tracking. Users are free to choose what data to share. For instance, your wallet address is not exposed by default.
4. Feature-complete: TON Connect lets you register, sign in, and confirm individual actions all through the same one-click flow.

Future directions
We will evolve TON Connect incrementally, rolling out additional features over the next releases of Tonkeeper. One of them will be proof of TON wallet ownership, which will be useful when you want to prove ownership of a blockchain item. Another important feature will be support for push notifications to allow seamless confirmation for transactions.
Stay tuned for updates!

🏆 2.6: TON.DNS features and all-new transfer UI with an address book
Hey there! Today we release Tonkeeper 2.6 with exciting new features.
TON.DNS domains: now you can link your purchased domain name to your wallet, or to any address of a service or another user. This is more secure and more convenient because you no longer need to transfer ownership of your domain.
We redesigned the transfer screen entirely. You can set the amount in your favorite currency and it will be converted to TON on the fly. And long-awaited feature: you can select “send all” to transfer the entire balance out of the wallet.
Tonkeeper now has an address book: you may add meaningful labels to your favorite addresses. This works for all addresses: even those without DNS names attached.
We hope you will enjoy this release, stay tuned for more updates on our channel!
For the past several weeks Tonkeeper and AppStore review team has been involved in a dispute around the definition of NFTs, the feature that we added to Tonkeeper three months ago. According to Apple, NFTs are digital products: if NFTs are sold on other platforms and made available in Tonkeeper, they must also be offered through the In-App Purchases (IAP) system (see guidelines 3.1.1 and 3.1.3b). For example, if we were selling our own NFT tokens, the guidelines would require us to offer users an option to pay for them via IAP payment system.

💎TON DNS in Tonkeeper
Today, the TON Foundation announced the launch of TON DNS, a service for human-readable names in the zone .tonthat exist on the TON blockchain and are owned directly by the users without intermediary registrars. Like traditional DNS records, .ton names support arbitrary data attachments such as IP addresses and image URLs.
It is very easy to use .ton names: To make a payment, you may use a short name like bobby.ton instead of the long cryptographic key. Tonkeeper will automatically detect the current address from the blockchain.
Names in the .ton zone are NFTs that can be owned by any TON wallet like any other NFT. They can be sent to other wallets and traded on NFT marketplaces (Getgems and Disintar already support these items).
Tonkeeper will add support to TON DNS in an update well before the start of the open TON DNS auction. The auction begins on July 30, 2022. Learn more about the auction rules and technology behind TON DNS.
👍 Update: turns out it was partial outage at CloudFlare, not Digital Ocean. Connectivity should be restored.

⛈ Tonkeeper is under flood attack
Network connectivity in the wallet is temporarily clogged and it may be hard to make transactions over the next couple of hours due to the massive denial-of-service attack on our servers.
Please note that your funds are safe within the wallet app, regardless of what is going on with the servers.
We are working on resolving this issue and will be back with an update shortly. ☔
