Hey friends,

In Tonkeeper Pro you can send multiple transactions! Easily send Toncoin or any other token to multiple recipients at once. Just create a list of transactions and send them all at once.

This is a powerful new feature that no one has used in the TON ecosystem yet 👍

How it works

1. Click Multi-send
2. Enter a list of addresses or DNS names and the respective ton or fiat amounts, and add comments optionally
3. Save transaction lists for reuse
4. All transactions will be send all at once

⏳ TON Blackout Radar

TON is healing from a massive denial-of-service issue that started on December 5.

2.5 million transactions are stuck in the queue and validators are upgrading hardware in order to sort out the congestion quicker.

We have put out a new monitoring page where you could see decongestion process at 10-minute intervals.

Chart 1 shows cumulative amount of delayed transactions. Until it drops to zero, the network can only process very few new transactions.

Chart 2 shows the rate of congestion/decongestion. Blue line shows clearance rate, red one — growth of the queued messages.

In the next 10-20 hours we expect to see increase in the rate of decongestion: more and faster validators will join the next validation round.

This page is a work-in-progress: there are a few bugs to fix in the morning. We will also add the timeline of events with commentary to keep you updated.

☔ Tonkeeper Paused

Yesterday we warned you about TON network congestion. For most transfers, this means that transactions can be significantly delayed, but the money remains safe.

Unfortunately, for some more complex types of operations, such as bids on the auctions, large transaction delays can lead to the cancellation of operations in smart contracts and the loss of money on blockchain commissions. Or sometimes even greater losses, depending on the logic of the smart contracts underpinning some dapps.

To minimize risks of loss for our users, we are temporarily pausing the relay of transactions through Tonkeeper and TonAPI. Since the network is heavily overloaded, you are unlikely to notice the difference anyway. But at least you won’t find yourself in a situation where your transaction is stuck in limbo.

We are working together with the TON Core development team to deliver the fix as soon as possible. The network will be more robust and perfectly capable of handling this kind of load in the nearest future.

🔋Tonkeeper Battery

We are excited to announce a major new feature: Tonkeeper Battery. It is in public beta and available on all mobile platforms starting today.

Tonkeeper Battery removes an obstacle for newcomers: you can get a stablecoin or an NFT and use them right away without acquiring native coins to pay for gas. You won’t need to go to an exchange, pass KYC checks, enter a lot of details only to buy a random amount of coins you did not think you needed.

With Tonkeeper Battery you will never have to worry about gas anymore. Top up your battery with a banking card or a stablecoin, and use all features of your wallet right away.

How does it work?

With Tonkeeper Battery you can receive tokens (stablecoins, NFTs etc.) and make payments with a token — without going to an exchange to buy coins to cover blockchain fees. Tonkeeper Battery pays your fees for you, automatically.

You can charge the battery with one tap using in-app purchases, or with TON or stablecoins. Send a few dollars worth of stablecoins or TON to a special address: battery.ton and it will automatically apply charges to your account.

Tonkeeper Battery is denominated in charges, each charge covers the fee of a simple TON transfer transaction. More complex transactions may consume 5, 10 or more charges.

We’ve all been waiting for this. Tonkeeper on mobile now supports multiple wallets. Over the past two years we’ve had accumulated so many features, that going from 1 to N required a lot of changes under the hood. It took some time, but the wait is worth it!

Multiple wallets

Add any number of your own wallets, add watch-only wallets to keep keys outside the device or watch popular addresses. Customize each wallet with colors and emoji, so you don’t get lost in so many of your wallets. Did we already mention that you can add a lot of wallets?

Price charts

Tonkeeper now shows price charts for many tokens, beyond TON. Click on a token on your balance to follow its price. It’s a hot season in crypto — everyone’s watching the markets!

Fast setup

Setting up a wallet now takes two clicks without a tedious backup process. Set a passcode and, boom, your wallet is ready right away. Sign up all your friends to Tonkeeper, so they can finally enjoy a crypto wallet made with care and attention.

Sorted balances

⛈ Targeted denial-of-service attack against TON infrastructure

Some of the most popular infrastructure providers are experiencing a deliberate flood attack that leads to slower or interrupted service.

This attack is aimed at our TonAPI servers, public liteservers, Ton Center, Getblock and Tonhub.

About the attack

1. Decentralized network of TON nodes is working normally. Transactions get validated at a stable pace of 50 tx/sec.

2. Your funds in Tonkeeper are safe: even if your Tonkeeper has trouble connecting to TonAPI, try again later.

3. This is a deliberate and planned attack. We see a mixture of low-level flood attack by UDP packets that clog the bandwidth and crafted requests aimed at exhausting resources of the indexing services (e.g. triggering expensive TVM evaluation).

4. We do not currently have an estimate when the attack will be mitigated. Every infra provider is trying to reconfigure or relocate their servers to hide them from the attackers' reach. This process may take hours or days.

5. Attackers are adapting quickly. We tried different quick options to divert the flood and noticed how attackers change tactics, discover new IP addresses and resume their activity.

🔥 Tonkeeper X

We are entering 2024 by launching a new chapter for Tonkeeper with native mobile implementations on iOS and Android.

Tonkeeper X will be released on App Store and Play Store as a separate application aimed at enthusiasts and fans of Tonkeeper. At first, it won’t have all the features as the regular Tonkeeper (hence you really ought to be our fan to put up with it :-), but there will be some unique and fun features going forward such as price widgets.

We will collect feedback and evolve Tonkeeper X until it’s ready to be merged back into the stable version. When that happens, all of you will smoothly upgrade on the new design.

Why Tonkeeper X?

When we started Tonkeeper late in 2021, we decided to use multi-platform React-Native framework for its speed of development. As Tonkeeper grew in functionality all around, it is now time to put more effort into platform-specific navigation and security architecture.

Going forward, over the next few months we are going to build up brand-new native architecture on Android and iOS, test it in the open using a separate app Tonkeeper X, and then merge it into the main Tonkeeper. We will also use React-Native framework for built-in services such as exchanges, swaps and staking. These services will be securely isolated from the core of the wallet, while sporting native look and feel.

TON20 Inscription Use-case on TON
Starting on December 5th, The Open Network (TON) experienced an incredible spike in network activity, thanks to the BRC20 Bitcoin Ordinals type of inscription use-case, called TON20, launched by the Tonano team.

Producing over 2 million transactions increased our network usage by 61 times within just half an hour. TON Community is proud to witness a creative use case take-off in TON driven by independent participants in the ecosystem.

Moreover, this sudden growth has revealed many interesting insights for our blockchain. Dynamic sharding technology worked as expected. At its peak, TON split into eleven shardchains, stabilizing at five shardchains to handle the heavy load.

At the same time, this phenomenon also revealed where the community should work to swiftly onboard the exponential increase in network activity expected in the near future. Network validators must ensure that TON is supported by hardware capable of scaling to the performance demanded by high usage.

Network Performance Delays
This peak interest also came with a severe congestion of TON network, where validation was severely delayed even though the network validators are still producing blocks.

Popular wallets like @Wallet and Tonkeeper have paused the service temporarily.

TON core developers are aware of the issues affecting users and are working on TON blockchain. An initial technical report is available here. TON core team will be providing us with a further update within the next 24 hours.

🌧 Network Overload

All TON wallets, including Tonkeeper, are under unprecedented load once again. Your transactions may be delayed or not get through in the following hours. Your funds are safe, this is not a security issue.

This challenge turned out to be much tougher than we anticipated. The best TON engineers, including my team at Ton Apps, are spending a second sleepless night on the collective effort to bring operation back to normal.
