In light of the questions surrounding what entails the audit firm partnership, we would like to provide the following clarification:
- Customer ("TON Foundation") agrees to have [Auditor] as one of the primary security assessment service providers to Customer referred projects ("Clients")
- [Auditor] agrees to apply a discounted rate for the "Clients"
- [Auditor] agrees to prioritize for the "Clients", with the best effort to maintain a [xyz] week lead time
- [Auditor] undertakes best efforts to reserve a team of engineers with previous FunC experiences for the "Clients"
Referred projects ("Clients") which can apply will be based on selection criteria including, but not limited to:
- Grant recipients (including Footsteps, discretionary grants, etc.)

Questbook V2 for TON Foundation grants is coming soon (January 2023). We heard the community loud and clear about turnaround time related to grants delivery. Questbook V2 will integrate TON Wallet and we will migrate the entire application process to therein. This will result in:

The Open Challenge: DeFI - DEX & Tokens
We wrote a CT thread on reflection of TON Fam event and introduction of The Open Challenge (TOC).
In short, TOC is designed to incentivize the best teams to develop on TON and be awarded Toncoin for achieving community-driven milestones.
TLDR for all you time-strapped builders:
- TOC DeFi - DEX & Tokens go live by 1/1/23
- Format and rules are currently being updated in light of the news that Telegram will be building a DEX (likely additional tiers added)
- We are considering shorter-term time-weighted average and shorter vesting to award teams faster
- TOC for other verticals will be drafted and shared with the community for open comments, with the goal of 1 TOC release per month starting Jan 2023 (we know all you NFT builders are anxiously waiting)

Tal Kol on Technology at TON
«We talk a lot about what we are building. I want to dedicate a few minutes to speak about the why. So why are we using this marvelous technology? What is its grand purpose?
I have friends who lost as much as 7 figures in the recent FTX collapse. Who would have dared to imagine that the second most trusted custodian in our industry would gamble with your money behind your back?
People in our community turn to me and ask me “Tal, I feel so vulnerable, I never expected this, what can we do to make sure this doesn’t happen to me next?”
There are only two answers here. One - to double down on trust and increase regulation, or two - to take trust out of the equation.
To those who choose trust and seek regulation, I say beware. Regulations are rarely drafted with the best interests of the common man at heart. We are a global community but there is no global regulator. We see self-serving local politics in the decisions that they make.
And after a while, we find ourselves in a status quo that we no longer even question. The fractional reserve in banking is an organized form of fraud, not different in principle from what FTX was doing. But legal. Every bank is allowed to gamble with your money, like with FTX - you receive no part of the profit, yet you take on the risk. And if they take their greed too far, and your money is in jeopardy, you will be the one bailing them out.
So what about the second approach? Taking trust out of the equation. Is this even possible?
This is exactly what our infrastructure was designed to do! This is the whole point of what we’re building here. The architects that designed TON created a fully decentralized platform for our benefit. They allow us to build trustless apps in only 200 lines of code.
Systems where you can trade like on FTX but not be required to trust anyone. Systems where nobody can gamble with your money behind your back. Systems where you will not be vulnerable but not because the other actors are honest - but because vulnerability itself is impossible! And you will not need to take my word for it, you will be able to prove it for yourself.
Don’t be cynical. It is our duty to create an ecosystem with an alternative to the FTX mindset. It is our duty to break the status quo.
You in the audience are the builders. You will have moments of weakness when you will have doubt. And question if the ideals I speak about are practical. In those moments of weakness remember that the path is simple. To create a fully trustless app you only need to follow three simple rules:
1. Backend is smart contracts only (no servers)
2. No special admin roles in the contracts
3. Frontend runs on client only and is open source
Having said that, we must also remember that there is room for custody in our ecosystem. There is no mass adoption without custody. But custody services can be designed with transparency in mind with strong guarantees to users showing exactly where their funds are at any given time.
To conclude, I will ask you one thing. If you see an app that does not follow these principles don’t stay silent. Eject it from our midst. Demand that its founders do better. Or else, we will find ourselves with another FTX built within our walls.

We will be starting a weekly series called “TON Society Intern Weekly Interview on TON Foundation Members” and the purpose of this is to let the TON community get to know more about the people behind TON and what their roles are!
The first individual we have for this week will be @cryptoKorba (TG) @cryptoKorba (TW), aka Alec Korba the brains behind The Open Challenge (TOC).
- When did you join the TON Foundation and what is your current R&R?
I joined the TON Foundation in December 2022. I am responsible for building The Open Challenge, an open grant program for everyone based on performance metrics. I’m also responsible for strategic infrastructure partnerships.
- Where did you work previously and in what R&R?
Prior to TON Foundation I was a Director at Binance.com working in roles both on Central BD as well as BNB Chain during my tenure. Before Binance.com I was the VP of Strategic Partnerships for MIT founded Big Data & Analytics companies HeadQuartered in Boston. I launched three Bitcoin exchanges in 2013 and have held various advisory roles in the BTC community over the last nine years.
- What about the TON opportunity excited you the most?
The Community. TON is a unique project because it is crowd funded instead of venture backed. It’s got a vibrant and collaborative community unlike any other modern blockchain I’ve seen with so much room for growth.
- What is The Open Challenge and how will you work with the community to reach consensus on the key metrics across each verticals?
The Open Challenge is exactly that: It’s open. Working in L1 grants for a long time I’ve seen the way the industry has evolved and the model being used is inefficient. Founders spend a lot of time pitching for grants and oftentimes don’t get the capital they expect. We’re creating a way to make our grant figures public so that anyone can sign up and hit a few key metrics to unlock some capital. Given the complexity and diversity of Dapps we wish to attract we have to build a number of different programs for each vertical. We also need to base these grants on metrics that we can track. I rely heavily on community feedback to design these programs and that starts with listening to founders about what KPI’s they use to measure themselves.
- What advice do you have for founders / teams building on TON as it relates to funding needs?
Funding should always be diversified. Any founder needs a mixture of strategic partnerships, equity investors, advisors, community, and a relationship with the Foundation managing the community they are operating in. I have seen founders move between communities to get access to a little more capital and that oftentimes slows them down. The most important thing is to have operational funding in place, invest in a community you believe in, communicate with that community, find the right advisors, and build a relationship with the Foundation.. Giving back to the community is important so accepting that certain things you build should be Open Source will strengthen your position.

We have consolidated and announced the Sep/Oct/Nov grants recipients via GitHub Discussions. Please see therein for additional details about the project and the team.
- TONDaddy team and their efforts to elevate DNS service to the TON ecosystem (milestone 1)
- OpenMask and their team on their continued effort in building their website and upgrading of web extension (milestone 2 and 3)
- Rift (previously dBuilder) on enhancements towards deployment and testing (milestone 1.5 and 2)
- Web3 Campus and their team for building everything Web3 educational delivery with regards to the TON ecosystem (milestone 1)
- Smart Sign and their team for building new smart contracts use case and signatures portal for TON ecosystem (milestone 1)
Starting 2023 (early January), the grants submissions/feedback will fully migrate to Questbook 2.0 which will integrate TON Wallet. We will deprecate the old TypeForm application process.
Also a friendly reminder that we have added a Support Ticket system for any grants related questions.
If the project team has not heard back from grant committee, the application is not considered for the following reasons (but not limited to):
- Contact information is not included and/or application is missing critical information
- Milestones are not broken down into $5K increments
- Applications are a fit for investments stage than grants
- Applications are a fit for The Open Challenge, such as TON integration by other ecosystem players (see below)
The Open Challenge is a metric-based TON awarding system coming to TON ecosystem starting 2023. The first one up will be for DeFi vertical, whereby projects that achieve [xyz] TVL (total value locked) will be able to win TON. Other verticals such as NFT, media, social, gaming, and more can soon expect similar metric-based retrospective awarding of TON.
This will ensure that our ecosystem grows in a healthy manner whereby builders are encouraged to bootstrap and achieve goals, rather than up-front hefty grants which can lead to death spirals in the secondary market without good delivery of the intended grant use cases.

The TON blockchain will be connected to the cross-chain Orbit Bridge.
Orbit Bridge is a multi-chain bridge service with token conversion between mainnets with current support of 19 blockchains and 84 tokens. The platform is by Ozys, a South Korean blockchain company with additional TON development roadmap, including a TON native DEX scheduled for release on early January 2023.
The service has over $12.3 billion worth of assets locked and undergoes a quarterly security audit. Since its launch in 2020, Orbit has not suffered a breach.
Supported tokens on Orbit Bridge to and from TON ecosystem will include:
Ethereum-based tokens (51): WBTC, ETH, USDT, USDC, DAI, etc.
Polygon-based tokens (4): MATIC, MESH, etc.
Klaytn-based tokens (10): KLAY, KSP, etc.
Orbit Bridge Validators include leading names in the crypto industry, such as First Stage Labs, TON Ecosystem Builders, Cosmostation, Neoply, DSRV, M-block, Despread, Move Labs, B-harvest, Ozys, and more.
Ozys is currently developing its own TON-based DEX, which will launch early January 2023.
Justin Hyun, Head of Incubation at the TON Foundation, shared his comments on the occasion:
“With the introduction of TON as the latest mainnet on the Orbit Bridge, a host of new users will be introduced to the TON ecosystem. Vice-versa, TON users will be excited for the opportunity to hold stablecoins on TON mainnet. While mainnet native minting is our ultimate goal, we believe that multi-chain solution unlocks new potential for the TON ecosystem. Users that port over to TON will experience the advantages that our blockchain holds over its peers.”

The TON Foundation has shared its plans for the ecosystem for 2023.
The TON Foundation published an article discussing TON’s history and the main stages of how the ecosystem was formed, and it also went over development plans for 2023.
TON ecosystem’s priorities:
▪️ Improve the ecosystem and get the most out of its potential.
▪️ Acquire new users (by new and unusual means).
▪️ Develop general network standards and team guidelines.
▪️ More support for developers.
▪️ Develop the remaining Web3 components: Payment Network, TON Proxy, TON Storage, and crosschain bridges.
