Given is the bar graph showing how much time males as well as females spend on housework, on average, per day.

Evidently, females occupy more time with housework as opposed to males. Although both of them spend the highest amount of time on cooking, the least common activities vary. While the former is least engaged in repair work, the latter is in
laundry.

To be more specific, females are more active in household chores. Even though both genders spend most of their time on preparing food, the gap between them is around twofold, about 37 minutes and 17 minutes in favor of females. Next comes cleaning, here the difference is even more dramatic, nearly 32 minutes to 11 minutes. In laundry, in turn, a fourfold gap can be observed, 16 minutes to 4 minutes.

Turning to home maintenance, here males are more active. With garden care, the amount of time is more or less the same at around 15 minutes, males are ahead with a diminutive advantage though. In repair work, however, males are far ahead, precisely 10 minutes compared to just under 5 minutes.

VERSION 1

The bar chart shows percentages from a study of residents who purchased coffee and tea, in five metropolitan areas of Australia, within the last four weeks. Overall, the highest percentages of purchasers were for coffee and tea bought in coffee stores, followed by instant coffee, and then fresh coffee.

Looking first at consumers of tea or coffee at cafes, the highest proportions were in Sydney, Melbourne and Hobart, which all recorded a little over 60%. This was followed by just under 55% in Brisbane, and then approximately 50% In Adelaide, which was the only city where this category was not the highest.

Turning to instant coffee, Brisbane and Hobart had the highest proportions at a little under 55% of residents. Adelaide was next with 50%, which accounted for their highest proportion for all types of purchases.  Sydney and Melbourne had the lowest at a little over 45%, each.

Finally, the highest proportion of fresh coffee consumers were in Sydney and Melbourne, which were both approximately 43%. Hobart followed with about 40%, and Brisbane and Adelaide had the lowest at approximately 35%.

VERSION 2

Given is the bar graph revealing (showing) the finds of a month-long-survey on the consumption of coffee and tea in five Australian cities.

In general, in all the cities, excluding Adelaide, people, mostly, tended to visit a cafe to have a drink, whereas the least popular option among the cities was buying fresh coffee.

In Sydney, Melbourne and Hobart going to a cafe to drink tea or coffee was popular with 60-65% of the population, Melbourne ,meanwhile, had the greatest percentage. Whilst the proportions of Sydney and Melbourne in buying instant coffee were quite alike, just under a half, Hobart had a more significant figure, at almost 55%. Turning to the purchase of fresh coffee, the indices of Sydney, Melbourne and Hobart were in the respective downward order, from nearly 44% to around 38%.

As regards Brisbane and Adelaide, they both had relatively low numbers in cafe visits, just over a half in the former and just under a half in the latter. While in the former buying instant coffee was less common than paying a visit to a cafe, the opposite was true in the other city. Finally, the proportions of buying fresh coffee in both cities were almost identical at around 34%.

Task 2

Many people are afraid of leaving their homes because of their fear of crime. Some believe that more action should be taken to prevent crime, but others feel that little can be done.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

The fear of crime has reached such a level that numerous residents prefer to stay in. Some are too pessimistic about the situation and think that nothing can help us resolve the problem, whereas others hold a more optimistic view. My attitude to the phenomenon is closer to the latter, I sincerely believe that it is quite possible to minimize the crime rate of the present days.

A number of people are skeptical about the effectiveness of any methods and thus see no point in addressing the problem. They regard criminals as emotionally dysfunctional people, which makes them believe that everything done to deter them will go to no avail. In other words, they say that criminals have an inborn desire to commit a crime, so, according to them, it is nearly impossible to prevent their illegal activities.

Nonetheless, I am sure enough that every problem has a solution and this case is not an exception. To prevent crimes, governments could set up several cameras in each neighborhood, which would be supervised by a couple of physically robust policemen. This combination would undoubtedly make wrongdoers think twice before perpetrating anything illegal. For, the chances of getting caught will double if not triple in this condition.

Provided that it does not bear fruit, governments could brutalize punishment. For instance, if someone steals precious items or robs a bank, the person has to be punished correspondingly. That is, chopping their criminal hands or burning them alive could send a signal to others who plan to engage in crime. As a result, people would know that actions have consequences, and this perception could always keep them away from crimes.

To conclude, in spite of pessimistic views of some regarding dealing with crime, I deem that proper actions will lead to proper results.

This is an essay to the latest question of the exam.
We used a new structure this time and made the essay quite casual. I liked it though.

As a teacher I always search for ways to improve my English.
Recently, I found YOUTUBE of great help(I don't mean teaching channels)
I'm a fan of UFC along with football true and true, so I found PROPER channels in there with daily news.
Now whenever I happen to have passive free time, like on roads or watching TV, I turn on a video and listen. By occupying my leisure time in this way I noticed that now English is getting (if not has got) like Russian for me(my first language)
Highly recommend everyone to practise English in this way👍

Some people believe that people who read books can develop more imagination and language skills than those who prefer to watch TV.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It has been stated that linguistic as well as imaginative skills are more inclined to evolve if people read books rather than watch TV. I, personally, acknowledge the importance of books in the development of imagination along with language skills, but in the meantime, I deem that this is a subjective matter.

On the one hand, the act of reading has its own advantages over watching TV. First of all, books do not limit people’s imagination, and we can picture the actions and scenery however we desire. Television, in turn, depicts a clear picture, leaving no need for imagination. Secondly, books enhance the eloquence of people. While reading, especially aloud, the ability of speaking is practiced, and this gradually improves the speech of an individual. Finally, we could say that books develop our orthographic skills, since we see the orthography of words in the process, whereas on TV we just hear them.

On the other hand, it is wrong to assume that one method will suit everyone. People differ, so do their learning habits. Some find it more effective to acquire linguistic as well as imaginative skills visually. For them reading a book is a chore let alone picturing what they have read. A salient example of this is myself. Since my childhood, I have not been attracted to books and always preferred watching to reading. Yet, I can confidently say that I can give a head start to my bookworm friends in terms of imagination along with language skills.

To conclude, even though reading may seem as a better choice to foster mental evolvement, I believe there is no fixed way that suits everybody, people vary, so do their perceptions.

Today, we, the members of our course and I, wrote an essay to this question:

Some people think that in order to solve transport problems, governments should provide adult citizens with free bicycles.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

The issue of transport has become as prevalent as never before. Therefore, it is getting increasingly common to hear people argue whether the free provision of bicycles to adult citizens by governments can help to address the problem. From my perspective, not only will this initiative be to no avail but, on the contrary, may exacerbate the situation.

On the one hand, the strategy of free bicycles may genuinely decrease the number of cars on roads to a certain extent on the account of conscientious adult citizens. For, they will value the exertion of government and try to do their part. As a consequence, the number of cars on roads will fall, which will, in an ideal world, resolve the problem.

Dreams aside, in the actual world, people always prioritize comfort, in our case - cars. So, even if governments implemented the strategy, this would not lure drivers, but instead, public transport commuters along with pedestrians would take advantage of that. In other words, those, who once used to be unnoticeable on roads, would start riding the granted bicycles. As a result, the volume of traffic would increase, and this, in turn, would lead to chaos on roads.

In conclusion, although the provision of bicycles to adults may seem as an effectual way to deal with transport-related problems, I believe that this will only take a heavy toll on the issue. Thus, as for me, it would be better for government to search for other ways to resolve the trouble.
