BLS likely overstated 2024 job gains by 907,000
According to new data, the U.S. may have added far fewer jobs in 2024 than previously reported.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) originally said private payrolls grew 1.2% last year. But more accurate data from the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW), which covers 97% of employers, shows growth was only 0.6%.
That’s a 907,000 job gap — or around 75,583 jobs overstated every month.

US vs EU Credit: No Yield Edge After Hedging
There’s little yield advantage between US and EU investment-grade bonds.
With high forward hedging costs, US credit offers limited appeal to European investors.
As a result, most flows are expected to stay within Europe.
After hedging, the yield differential is so small that cross-border returns would likely be negative.
