UK100 H4 UPDATE

We are still holding this position and we are currently hovering around 1R. We have closed 50% of this out already. All stock indices really took off over the eastern session and so far this mornings London open.

That being said, we would usually look to scale in here (add positions). But given the stance of the markets. We wont add any more risk to this, instead looking to call a US30 signal for US market open.

🇬🇧GBPJPY H4

Potential sell here on GBPJPY, the W1 candle is still very much active and holding this area of resistance. We pushed 190 psych price before then dumping back down to that 188 handle. I think the spike we have seen is a fakeout, obviously the W1 candle is still very much active and we would ideally need to see this out.

However a nice high reward opportunity here, 188 to 190 region hasn't seen this high price for over 15 years, which is really sticking with me.

Looking like a negative week in the signals group as it stands, CPI inflation and stock indices have thrown us off a little bit.

Healthy corrections seen, likely going to stop the rot and go again next week. Unless something 🔥🔥 presents itself.

📈Good morning. Stocks resume their march higher after Nvidia offers an even better-than-expected outlook. One Goldman exec is leaving, while two top bankers threaten to walk. And even Chinese companies prefer Singapore to Hong Kong.

Nvidia surged 9% postmarket after its sales guidance beat consensus. Revenue this period will be about $24 billion as CEO Jensen Huang said AI demand has hit the “tipping point.”

The Nikkei 225 closed at a record high, finally eclipsing its 1989 peak. Chip-related stocks gained. European contracts rose and Nasdaq 100 futures climbed more than 1%. Man Group said the China stock market rout mirrors a 2007 quant meltdown in the US.

It was a big move overnight, whilst seeing continuations of US stock indices throughout the day thus far.

📈Good morning. HSBC falls in Hong Kong after a profit miss. Nvidia reports earnings after the close in New York. And Jack Ma’s wife snaps up Singapore property.

HSBC’s profit fell 80% as it took unexpected charges on holdings in a Chinese bank and from selling its French retail operations. Shares fell in Hong Kong. But the bonus pool for rose 12% and CEO Noel Quinn’s pay almost doubled to £10.6 million. Over at Citi, Jane Fraser’s pay increased 6% to $26 million last year after she kicked off an overhaul that includes cutting 20,000 jobs.

Earnings ahead: Nvidia faces sky-high expectations when it reports today. Options imply a 10.6% swing in its shares after the results. And Amazon rose postmarket on the announcement it’ll replace Walgreens in the Dow. Separately, Jeff Bezos sold another $2.37 billion of shares.

Markets: Hong Kong and mainland Chinese stocks rallied as a move against quants reduced concerns about short selling. Other Asian markets fell. US futures dipped while European contracts were mixed.

🇬🇧UK Chancellor Jeremy Hunt will have £23 billion of headroom for pre-election tax cuts in his budget next month.

- But what Britain is being offered is really a “tax sandwich,” according to James Smith at the Resolution Foundation. Juicy cuts in this election year will be “sandwiched between far bigger past and future tax rises.”

- The current plans are based on a “fiscal fiction” as day-to-day public service spending after the election is due to rise by just 1% a year in real terms, Smith said.

📈Good morning. A rate cut in China fails to excite investors. Capital One will acquire Discover in a $35 billion deal. And post-Covid, the world still has fewer direct flights.

🇨🇳Investors shrugged off what looked like stimulus in China—the nation’s commercial banks cut a key lending rate by the most on record yet stocks slipped. Forsyth Barr Asia called the move a “good gesture” but said the rate cut wasn’t the solution to the nation’s property crisis.

🇺🇸What’s in your wallet? Capital One will acquire Discover in a $35.3 billion all-stock deal, creating the largest US credit card company by loan volume. It’s also the biggest global acquisition this year.

🇬🇧Rishi Sunak wants to win back farmers ahead of the election expected later this year and plans to announce a £220 million fund to help improve agricultural productivity, the FT reported.

Volkswagen, Renault and Stellantis are exploring tie-ups with sworn competitors to make cheaper EVs and fend off existential threats.

- Chinese rivals and Tesla exposed competitive weaknesses of European automakers, who were also being pushed by a slowdown in the pace of EV adoption.

- More challenges: Rather than muscling aside gas guzzlers, sales of fully electric cars this year are set to grow at the slowest rate since 2019.
