Price Target (or target price): When an analyst sets a price target for a stock, he or she is trying to determine what the stock is worth and where the price will be in ~12 months. Ultimately, price targets depend on the valuation of the company issuing the stock. Analysts base their price targets usually on earnings forecasts and assumed valuation multiples. Price targets (especially average price targets) can be used to value stocks and may even be more useful than a stock analyst's rating.

๐ฐ NYSE OPENING UPDATE ๐ฐ
There are further signs of a weakening labor market as the number of new private sector hires (reported by ADP) was only 150,000 last month (versus 165,000 expected new hires) and the number of continuing claims for unemployment benefits also continued to rise. Following further signs of a slowdown in the US economy - Wall Street closes early on Thursday due to the US holiday - we now see Wall Street slightly lower. We see the USD and yields continuing to fall while rate cut expectations rise as there are further signs that the US economy is slowing further and the disinflation path also remains intact. The gold price continued to rise and exceeded the $2,350 mark as we predicted.
๐น Chevron (+0.1%) opens little changed after a slightly positive session. The energy sector continues to underperform given the sharp rise in oil prices in recent weeks. We expect oil to remain bullish and to benefit from a weaker USD (possibly also from an update on oil inventories at 14:30 UTC+0)
โบ We see reduced trading activity ahead of tomorrow's NYSE holiday and today's shortened session. Economic data again points to an economic slowdown, with the US labor market continuing to ease. In particular, we do not want to place any bets now ahead of the PMI data (but possibly afterwards). S&P Global updates the services PMI and composite PMI at 13:45 UTC+0, followed by the ISM Services PMI (14:00 UTC+0) for June, which is likely to point to a slowdown in services activity.
๐ SmartTrader Insights: Wednesday Markets Wrap ๐
๐ Wednesday, July 3
โ๏ธ European stocks rise amid US interest rate optimism, Wall Street records & robust economic data
โบ European stocks rose after a record close for the S&P 500, driven by optimism over possible US interest rate cuts after Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell indicated that inflation is on a downward path. The Stoxx 600 index rose 0.5%, led by gains in mining and technology companies. In France, the CAC 40 index climbed as anti-national rally parties try to prevent Marine Le Pen's far-right group from gaining a majority in the upcoming parliamentary elections. The positive momentum in Europe was further supported by mixed but overall robust economic data. The Spanish PMI for the services sector fell slightly to 56.80 in June, while the French PMI for the services sector rose marginally to 49.6. However, the German overall PMI fell to 50.40, indicating slower growth.
โบ US stock futures remained steady ahead of a shortened session due to the July 4th holiday. The S&P 500 closed above the 5,500 mark for the first time, marking its 32nd record this year, while the Nasdaq 100 also reached an all-time high. Investors await US initial jobless claims and ADP employment data for further policy clues. Despite solid corporate earnings and advances in artificial intelligence, caution prevails as Fed Chair Powell has signaled that more evidence is needed before a rate cut.
โบ Asian equities posted their longest rise since May and Japanese stocks approached record highs. China's services sector grew at its slowest pace in eight months, while Hong Kong stocks rose. Japan's purchasing managers' index was revised down to 49.4 in June, pointing to a decline in the services sector.
โบ Oil prices climbed to a two-month high, but fell again somewhat in light of discussions about a possible ceasefire in the Middle East. WTI crude oil is now hovering around $82.5/barrel. Gold prices continue to surprise analysts who saw headwinds for gold due to higher bond yields. However, they do not understand what caused the recent rise in yields, which was not driven by concerns of a slower rate cut, but mainly by concerns of potentially less fiscal discipline under Donald Trump. Gold is trading at around $2,345 ahead of the Federal Reserve meeting and is also benefiting from expectations that US yields will rise even further (= lower demand for US Treasuries).

โบ Higher-than-expected JOLTs jobs data caused yields to trim earlier losses, as they not only show that US companies appear to be looking for employees again, but also that the labor market could tighten again. A loosening labor market is seen by many analysts as a prerequisite for the Fed to start cutting interest rates. However, the trend of the easing labor market (= rising unemployment) is fairly stable and the number of continuing claims for unemployment benefits continues to rise and has reached its highest level since 2021 as data showed in the previous week.
โบ Rather dovish comments from Fed Chair Powell, who said that the trend towards disinflation has returned, have previously caused yields to fall by up to 6 basis points (for the US 10Y). Gold reached almost $2,337 before falling again after the labor market data.
โบ We are buying the dip in gold that pushed gold below $2,325 (range $2,322.50 - $2,325) and see gold remaining resilient also as expectations rise that both bonds and equities have less and less upside in 2024.

Hello everyone!
I'm a bit tight on my schedule today as I am on a flight from Manila to Singapore, but I wanted to take a moment to introduce our new SmartTrader expert market analyst, Michael. He will be sharing his fundamental analysis and actionable trading ideas with our community. Michael, who has been working behind the scenes, is now ready to step into the spotlight and contribute to our SmartTrader community. He has a conservative short-term fundamental trading style, similar to mine but with his own unique approach, which is a positive addition. His own SmartTrader backed channel will maintain the SmartTrader look and feel, ensuring you are comfortable with his insights and analyses. And of course, Michael will follow our 100% transparency policy that you only find with SmartTrader.
A bit about Michael: I had the pleasure of getting to know him through SmartTrader and have worked with him over the last two months. Some of you may know him already from our Discord Community (currently open only to VIP members). His exceptional talent and now successful trading career are largely built on what he has learned as part of our community - which is a beautiful thing on its own.
Michael:
Hello everyone, thank you so much, Robert, for this opportunity.
I'm Michael from Austria. I started trading a little before the pandemic and have been trading for around five years now. Initially, I focused on technical analysis, but it didn't yield the results I was hoping for - of course. Fortunately, I found SmartTrader and Robert in early 2021, and he became a mentor to me. Since then, I've dedicated every minute to learning everything about the financial markets, fundamentals and understanding what truly drives them.
I've been writing my own analyses for quite some time now, and I'm very happy and excited to share my insights with all of you!
A few words about my trading style: I began as a swing trader with mid and long-term positions but transitioned to day trading and intraday positions. This approach allows me to take advantage of economic data releases and changes in market sentiment. As you will see, I have a rather conservative trading style with low risk, which helps me stay patient in every situation. This approach enables me to make informed decisions and keep emotions in check, which is crucial for successful trading.

Good timing and very good asset picking today. The CAD has underperformed given the very strong rise in oil prices (or rather the EUR was in a clear recovery today), while the other commodity prices are also mixed. Gold remains very resilient in the face of sharply rising yields (yields, however, are not (!) rising due to expectations of a delayed rate cuts, but currently mainly due to concerns about increased fiscal spending and a growing US debt mountain in a potential second term of Donald Trump). Meta reached our TP before the close - the almost perfect dip buy.
Sorry for the delay. I have to check out of my hotel here in Manila ๐ต๐ญ tomorrow (I'm here for an investment project) and I also saw Slovenia miss three penalty kicks ๐ซ
A very strong day - congratulations. Good night, your Rob.

โบ We are positioned LONG in the FTSE 100, which trades at the (after-hours) session lows ahead of the NYSE close. We see the FTSE 100 trading below 8160 in after-hours trading, with losses in the materials sector and due to the low weighting of the technology sector in the FTSE, which outperformed in New York today.
โบ The FTSE 100 also opened well in July, but completely eroded its initial gains and closed the day virtually flat (or with further losses in after-hours trading.
โบ The oil price rose significantly, which strangely had little impact on US energy stocks, while natural gas prices also fell. In the US, there was a shift from defensive to growth-oriented stocks, which also weighed on the FTSE in after-hours trading.
โบ Financial stocks ended the day on a positive note in New York and will provide a tailwind for British banks tomorrow.
โบ The upcoming elections in the UK should provide a slight tailwind with the Labor government's focus on growth. The elections in France, which turned out slightly better than feared, will also provide a slight tailwind for the FTSE.
โบ We are buying at the quasi low point.

โบ Gold rose above $2,360 as expected in response to the weaker PMI data for the services sector - which was actually much weaker than expected.
โบ ISM Services PMI June at 48.8 after 53.8 in May and well below expectations of 52.5. A reading below 50 means that the services economy is actually declining.

โบ We are currently seeing very hot equity markets with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 still at quasi ATHs. Markets in Asia and Europe are relatively broadly higher, which could lead to the current rally continuing for a bit - also because Q2 earnings are probably still strong and the AI growth story is intact.
โบ However, we see increasing concerns about a generally weaker H2 performance (of equities and bonds) and a long overdue pullback.
โบ We see yields falling slightly further with increasing hopes of rate cuts and growing evidence of a weakening US economy while disinflation continues/returns - now confirmed by Fed Chair Jerome Powell, who said yesterday that there are signs (although more data is needed) that the US is on a disinflationary path.
โบ Significantly higher yields have not significantly affected the gold price, suggesting resilience and that gold is currently favored over US Treasuries. We expect stable yields and a slightly weaker USD today - both of which are positive for further gold gains. Industrial metals and silver are significantly higher, giving gold an additional tailwind.
โบ We want to stay LONG. We see gold with support below $2.345 and want to re-enter at the current lower half of the $2,342.50 - $2,345 range - we expect gold to test or break through $2,350 soon.

Nasdaq (NAS100 / US100) ๐บ๐ธ
Triggered TP โ
@: 19878.90
Our Nasdaq 100 finally triggered our TP after being close to it on Friday and yesterday. However, we see a poor market breadth and mixed markets. The Nasdaq 100 received a big boost from further strong gains of Tesla. It's more likely that we will see slight profit taking from here. Growth stocks / Wall Street also benefit from comments from Fed Chair Jerome Powell who said prices are now showing disinflation trend - increasing rate cut expectations and resulting in yields to drop.

๐ SmartTrader Insights: Tuesday Markets Wrap ๐
๐ Tuesday, July 2
โ๏ธ Europe remains under pressure as inflation concerns persist; Mixed equities ahead of Powell's speech
โบ European equity markets opened weaker but pared their early losses, benefiting from continued disinflation as core inflation came in slightly above expectations at 2.9% (vs. 2.8% expected), while headline inflation fell to 2.5% (in line with expectations), below May's 2.6%. The Stoxx Europe 600 is trading 0.5% lower, led by losses in the construction, commodities and automotive sectors. The French CAC 40 underperformed, giving back some of Monday's gains as the second round of elections approached. The British FTSE 100, on the other hand, was hardly changed. ECB officials, including President Christine Lagarde, signaled a cautious stance on further rate cuts and stressed that more evidence of easing price pressures was needed.
โบ US stock futures trade slightly lower in pre-market trading as investors prepare for key economic data and Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell's speech at an ECB forum in Portugal. Government bond yields have fluctuated this year due to alternating concerns about the slowdown in US prices and persistently high interest rates. Our chief analyst sees concerns about reduced fiscal discipline under a possible second term of Donald Trump as the main reason for the recent steepening of the yield curve. The yield on 5-year securities has risen by more than 20 basis points in recent weeks. Strategists at major financial institutions such as Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and Barclays are advising their clients to brace for continued inflation and higher long-term yields. JPMorgan suggests that it may be time to take profits on US Treasuries. Traders are also looking ahead to today's US job openings data.
โบ Asian equities posted gains, with Japan and Hong Kong leading the rally. The MSCI AC Asia Pacific Index reached its highest level since the end of May, driven by the strong performance of Hong Kong-listed real estate and electric vehicle stocks. Japan's Nikkei 225 Index rose 1.2%, driven by financial stocks in anticipation of higher lending rates and a weaker JPY. In China, concerns over the country's economic growth fueled demand for government bonds and the central bank announced possible measures to cool the bond market rally. The yield on China's benchmark bonds hit a record low, reflecting investor concerns about long-term growth prospects. The minutes of the Reserve Bank of Australia's June meeting underlined the board's willingness to raise interest rates if inflation expectations change significantly. The S&P/ASX 200 index fell by 0.2%, extending its losses from the previous session.
โบ Oil prices rose to $83.5/barrel, close to a two-month high, due to escalating tensions in the Middle East and a rapid start to the Atlantic hurricane season. The gold price remains unchanged at $2,330/oz. SmartTrader chief analyst Robert Lindner expects gold to remain resilient for now despite sharply rising yields, as the higher yields were mainly triggered by concerns over higher fiscal spending and growing US debt, which could be exacerbated by a possible second term for Donald Trump.

Our DAX SHORT already reached the SL (for me) in Friday's after-hours trading due to the increased spread, but would also have closed in our SL today. It's a pity, as our DAX SHORT was already well in the money in overnight trading on Thursday - we could have done better here. We reversed the DAX today and went in LONG near our SL and closed today's DAX LONG well in the money (in a well placed SL).

We pull our SL again tighter for our Meta position which is now back near flat for the day. We found an excellent entry. Meta's strong performance but also a strong performance of other big tech stocks (in particular Apple, Amazon and Tesla) pushed also the Nasdaq 100 up more than 0.5% - we now see slight profit taking in the growth sector - also due to the sharply higher yields.
Nike is also one of the top performers - currently up 2.1%. If you re-entered today - your position is deep in profit. We work with a wide TP.

BUY NOW ๐ผ Dow Jones (US30) ๐บ๐ธ
โบ The Dow Jones has now fallen by more than 100 points, having previously risen by almost 300 points (in each case compared to Friday's closing price).
โบ Yields on longer-term government bonds have risen as markets price in the increasing likelihood of Trump becoming US president again after Biden's terrible performance in the presidential debate, where his biggest problem, his age and mental capacity, became an even bigger issue.
โบ We also saw again mixed PMIs that with the S&P Global Manufacturing PMI coming near expectations and still in expansion territory while the slightly more important (for Wall Street) ISM Manufacturing (US) PMI for June came in at 48.5 down from 48.7 in the previous month and thus deeper in contraction (49.1 was expected). However, part of the falling PMIs are likely due to falling inflation.
โบ We are buying the dip in the Dow Jones 39110 - 39160 range, expecting markets to stabilize as markets in Europe (and Asia) have also managed to stay in positive territory. We see some overselling in key Dow Jones stocks such as United Health, Home Depot, Caterpillar, McDonalds and 3M. The losses in HD, CAT and MMM are also due to the PMIs. The defensive stocks UNH and MCD will stabilize, HD, CAT and MMM will stabilize once the rapid rise in yields cools down a bit (currently +13 bp for US-10-Y).
๐ฃ๏ธ Tip: Multiply your usual trade size by ~ 3 - 4 (300% - 400%) trading the Dow Jones (US30).

โบ Wall Street had a positive start to Q3/H2 overall. We see some profit taking in chip stocks - most notably AMD, but Nvidia also slipped another 1.5% after a lower opening. We expect Nvidia to see dip buying again after the initial profit taking.
โบ While we don't want to overtrade, we can also get in on Meta after profit taking pushed the social media giant back to below $495 (almost $493). We expect Meta to quickly rise back above $500. Meta also benefits from the fact that Raymond James has raised the price target for Meta to $600 (from $550) and rates Meta as a "STRONG BUY".
โบ Meta has performed well over the past week and continues to rise after the dip at the end of April (following the earnings report).

BUY AFTER* NYSE OPENED๐ผ (VIP ONLY) ๐บ๐ธ
Our positions are benefiting from pre-market movements. We see an improved risk sentiment at the beginning of the second half of the year and in a holiday-shortened week.
๐น The Nasdaq (+0.2%) is showing signs of recovering and sees most components in the Nasdaq 100 trading in the green. The Nasdaq's performance will again be strongly effected by Nvidia. We expect an overall positive start for US stocks into H2.
๐น Apple (+0.5%) opens higher after some increased profit taking on Friday (before the close). UBS concerns about Apple's market share and a "neutral" rating weighs a bit on Apple.
๐น Chevron (+ 0.6%) extends recovery gains. We remain LONG and also keep our TP โ
@:159.37.
๐น Nike (+ 0.5%) tries to recover from sharp Friday losses in which the world's largest sports apparel brand lost almost 20% of it's value.
โบ Overall, we are positioned (relatively deep) LONG and do not want to overtrade the markets too much (we also have a LONG position in the DAX). We see broad gains in New York - with most stocks and sectors in the green. (VIP ONLY) remains volatile and is underperforming (VIP ONLY) after the recent (VIP ONLY). We continue to see many very optimistic voices from major investment banks and firms who continue to recommend (VIP ONLY) as a buy and continue to raise price targets. Today (VIP ONLY) "Overweight" (VIP ONLY).
โบ We saw losses ahead of the triple witching and further profit taking towards the end of Q2 - another very strong quarter for (VIP ONLY). We see (VIP ONLY) 0.5% lower in pre-market trading, opening near the recent support area (VIP ONLY). We look to enter (VIP ONLY) with a smaller than usual position in the lower "half" of that range and believe (VIP ONLY) will make another recovery attempt after potential initial slight profit taking.

๐ ROBโS DAILY UPDATE ๐
โผ๏ธ Stocks start H2 positively with intact rate cut hopes & after 1st French election results
European equities end their four-day slide after investors interpreted the first round of parliamentary elections in France as an indication that Marine Le Pen's party faces a more difficult path to overall victory than expected. The spread between 10-year Franco-German bonds fell to a two-week low, suggesting that investors are reducing the likelihood of a possible worst-case scenario. The second round of elections in France will take place on July 7
Outside of Europe, US stock futures rose by around 0.3% in pre-market trading and equities in Asia and emerging markets are also showing signs of a positive start to the second half of the year. Yields on US Treasuries continue to rise, partly because demand for safe havens (or bonds) is falling slightly.
US equities are benefiting from hopes of another strong earnings season. Goldman Sachs analysts expect S&P 500 companies' earnings to have risen by an average of 9% from April to June - the largest y-o-y increase since the fourth quarter of 2021.
We also see sustained demand for oil continuing to rise, benefiting from signs of an improving economic outlook, with even data from China pointing to an improvement in production. Eurozone manufacturing PMI data showed signs of improvement. Manufacturing data in the US later today will shed light on whether the US economy is showing signs of resilience as inflation gradually cools. The gold price rose back above $2,335 but faces fundamental headwinds from higher US yields.
In a holiday-shortened week, we do not expect any major moves but see profit-taking at the end of the previous quarter showing signs of reversal and risks in France/Europe are also still heavily priced in - providing room for a rebound.

BUY NOW ๐ผ DAX (GER_40) ๐ฉ๐ช
โบ The European markets got off to a very good start to the week. The DAX jumped more than 1.2% in early trading after the result of the first round of the French elections gave investors a slight relief as the lead of the right-wing nationalists of Marine Le Pen's Rassemblement National (RN) was not as big as feared. However, a sharp rise in the EUR is weighing on the export-heavy DAX, which is now back near the flat area and our triggered SL (for our SHORT position).
โบ We see signs of temporary relief in Europe, although the situation remains volatile and uncertain. Investors will continue to wait for next Sunday before making any major bets in Europe. However, the overall outcome is rather not positive and will mean that the French leadership is likely to be in a much more difficult position to make decisions and push forward with ongoing and upcoming reforms.
โบ There were also mostly positive signals from Asia and Wall Street is slightly in the green in pre-market trading - only chip stocks, particularly Nvidia, continued to weigh on Wall Street.
โบ We are buying the dip in the DAX, which has now fallen almost 200 points. We also expect positive signals from the German inflation data (to be published at 12:00 UTC+0 and will probably show that inflation is cooling off again somewhat). This would raise hopes for two more rate cuts by the ECB this year.
