► Gold has (again) fallen back to yesterday's lows, as we predicted. We are buying again here (range $2,603 - $2,607) and expect to see more dip buying soon, even though we continue to see fundamental headwinds from slightly higher yields and a stronger USD.
► The reduced risk premium, with rising hopes that the conflict between Israel and Iran will not escalate further, is also weighing on gold.
► Sales of metals (including silver, platinum, copper and today especially iron ore) are also weighing on gold. However, there is technical and sentiment support in the current bottom range $2,600 - $2,610. We buy here and set a rather narrow TP.
► We are trading a bit smaller due to elevated volatility.

SELL NOW 🔽 GBP/USD
⏱️ Signal DELAYED by: ~90 (!) minutes! ⚠️⚠️
► We continue to see the USD supported - with more signs of outperformance of the US economy and falling expectations that the Fed will cut rates quickly as the US economy remains robust, the US labor market is historically very strong and Wall Street is close to record highs.
► Expectations for a Fed rate pause have fallen slightly, with the probability of a 25 basis point rate cut on November 7 at around 90%.
►The GBP/USD was able to hold near the 1.31000 level, which I see as a resistance level for now. We closed the GBP/USD at our TP (1.30808) with a small profit and are now re-entering 10 - 15 pips higher (1.30900+ area).
► GBP remains relatively resilient as UK interest rates remain at high 5% (as in the US) and the Fed is still expected to cut rates faster. I believe the continued weakness of the UK economy and continued disinflation will prompt the Bank of England to cut rates faster than its own forecasts and market expectations.
► I expect tomorrow's consumer price index data in the US to show signs of continued slightly elevated inflation in the US, further reducing expectations for rapid rate cuts by the Fed.

► Gold traders suffered dramatic losses today (as so often recently) - as they went LONG before the US opening (we did the opposite). However, the sell-off now went very far and was accelerated by panic selling - although we also saw further fundamental headwinds with a stronger USD and further rising yields (albeit only slightly).
► The risk premium has reduced significantly as well, which is even more evident in oil prices, which plummeted today - here too, most short-term traders were wrong, pushing oil to a multi-month high today and then suffering huge losses.
► There are also growing concerns that Beijing sees the need for further massive stimulus, as Chinese markets (or investors) took the announcement of NO further stimulus very negatively today. However, massive further Chinese stimulus measures are likely to accelerate inflation again, so central banks may have a problem with inflation returning next year.
► The long-term outlook for gold remains bullish - especially given the massive debt levels in the US and the rising risks of a return of inflation (which supports gold in the long term)
► We are trading a little smaller here - as we are trading massively against the market and see a very volatile gold price today. We buy the strong dip to / below 2,610. We expect support (also technical support) in the range 2,600 - 2,610.

🔹 The Nasdaq (+0.45%) has room to recover from its oversold state yesterday. We found a good entry. We are seeing solid gains in the chip sector. However, we are seeing yields rising again, which is why we are now working with a tighter TP - ✅ 19969.90 (⚠️ outdated)
🔹 The Dow Jones (+0.15%) is little changed overall with mixed sectors. Overall, we see optimism continuing in New York, despite fairly heavy losses in Europe and a possible early (earlier than expected) end to the strong recovery in China (which was fueled by the stimulus measures).
🔹 GM (- 0.1%) is little changed and continues to move sideways. Given that European car stocks are trading well below par today, GM is showing more resilience. Nevertheless, we can now limit potential losses with an SL 🔑 @: 46.41. We also tighten our TP ✅ 45.11 (off-profit).
► We are buying Netflix's slight underperformance in today's pre-market trading. Netflix opens slightly higher (range 702 - 704). Netflix fell sharply yesterday - by almost 3% - and therefore has plenty of room to recover. We expect increased buying near 700 and still see Netflix with an attractive short-term growth outlook and an optimization of operating margins, including the potential to become a major player in the advertising business. Netflix will try to get back into the 715 - 720 range in the short term. Netflix also benefits from a positive analyst recommendation from JPMorgan today.

📊 SmartTrader Insights: Tuesday Markets Wrap 🗒
📆 Tuesday, October 8
❗️ European stocks slide after over-night tech slide in US and after cooling China rally
► European stocks slid today, with the Stoxx 600 index down over 0.8%, driven by declines in sectors heavily tied to China, such as luxury and mining stocks. Brands like Kering and Burberry slumped over 5%, reacting to China’s lack of significant new stimulus measures. France’s trade balance deteriorated in August, as exports fell more than imports, resulting in a deficit of €6.7 billion. Investors continue to digest the impact of slowing global trade and weakening economic conditions in Europe.
► Wall Street is still reeling from Monday’s tech-driven selloff, with US equity futures showing only minor movements. The Wall Street futures are steady, while rising Treasury yields (yesterday) and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East weigh on investor sentiment. The recent strength in US labor markets has decreased the likelihood of large rate cuts from the Federal Reserve, adding to market caution. Key corporate earnings are expected this week from major companies like PepsiCo later today and JPMorgan, Wells Fargo on Friday.
► Asian markets saw mixed performance, with Chinese stocks soaring early in the day before retracting as hopes for major stimulus measures from the Chinese government were dashed. The Shanghai Composite surged by 4.81% but lost momentum following the announcement of limited economic support. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index fell by over 9% as investors grew cautious about China’s economic outlook. Japan’s Nikkei fell 1.27%, reversing recent gains, while the JPY stabilized as markets assessed Bank of Japan’s policy outlook.
► WTI Crude oil rose sharply in early Asian trading, reaching its highest price since August amid increasing geopolitical risks in the Middle East. Speculation that Israel could target Iranian oil infrastructure fueled the rally in oil prices. Today, however, prices have fallen to $75/barrel (spot price) on rising expectations that Israel will act in a more planned manner (as predicted by our chief analyst anyway). Meanwhile, gold prices have declined slightly to $2,637/oz, due to the increased expectations that the Fed will pause rates in November and as the risk premium (on geopolitical tensions) slightly decreased.

⏱ Signal DELAYED by: 25+ (!) minutes! ⚠️⚠️
Despite Friday's excellent labor market report showing that the US economy is still very robust even after more than two years of high interest rates, we are seeing a subdued start to the week. Ongoing concerns about the situation in the Middle East and the fact that the markets no longer expect the Fed to cut interest rates rapidly are weighing on market sentiment.
🔹 Bank of America (+0.2%) is little changed after a rise of 2.2% on Friday. Financials are outperforming other sectors as the expectation of a slow rate cut path is generally positive for banks' net interest margins (NIM) and operating profit. Our position is well in profit - we set a tight ✅ @: 40.27 (or higher if BAC rises above 40.20 within the first 5 minutes (after NYSE opening) - then you can close in the ✅ 40.29 - 40.44 range) - this is outdated ⚠️
🔹 General Motors (- 0.3%) opens slightly weaker. We continue to see the auto sector in trouble - especially the EV sector. GM continues to have good sales figures for its pickups and has been able to outperform electric vehicle sales (compared to the general market trend). However, the auto market remains tough and the expectation that interest rates will be cut could have a negative impact on car purchases in the short term as car loans remain high for longer.
► We made a fantastic gold trade (again) and knew we could find a good / better re-entry. We will see increased volatility in all markets at the NYSE open, which also gives us the opportunity to go SHORT again in the range $2,652 - 2,657*. Gold briefly dipped below $2,640 before dip buying resumed. Yields continue to rise, exerting fundamental pressure as higher yields increase the opportunity cost of holding the low-yielding yellow precious metal.
► We also see room for a recovery in equities - especially somewhat outside the growth sector (which is experiencing some headwinds due to lower interest rate cut expectations). More defensive sectors, but also financials (our BAC position is well in the money) and energy have room to rise, while health and consumer staples can at least remain stable. We therefore also find a good entry point in (VIP ONLY) (range (VIP ONLY)**)

🔹 The Dow Jones (0.0%) opens near flat (42115 - 42140), after trading lower in early pre-market trading, and is about 100 points from our current TP ✅ @: 42246.90. There could be some increased volatility after the NYSE opens - especially as energy prices have fallen sharply again.
► Wall Street and especially the tech sector was dragged down by the prospect of anti-trust action against Google owner Alphabet - however, I agree with the market here and generally consider this unlikely (i.e. a break-up). Alphabet is already almost unchanged in pre-market trading after previously falling by more than 1%.
► Our positioning will be mixed today. Although I believe the energy sector will be a good sector to own in 2025 – with the next year likely to be a tougher one for the growth sector – in the near term, I see the recent rebound meeting further profit taking. We see (VIP ONLY) little changed from yesterday's open at (VIP ONLY) (and what to position us SHORT in the range (VIP ONLY)*). We expect the (VIP ONLY) to extend yesterday's sell-off and drop initially below (VIP ONLY), then below yesterday's lows, and eventually further towards (VIP ONLY). We expect (VIP ONLY) as both the risk premium falls, with the US pressuring Israel to de-escalate the conflict with Iran, and enthusiasm for Beijing's stimulus measures fades, with Chinese markets slumping today. We also see a stronger USD weighing (VIP ONLY) ...
► However, the lower oil price is supporting the more cyclical sectors. We also see a very resilient US economy overall, which now has a Fed on its side that will support the US economy (and labor market) if there are signs of weakness/significant slowdown. After recent sharp losses on signs of slowing sales growth, even down year over year, we are looking to position us LONG into logistics giant FedEx. I don't think the logistics industry will shrink in the medium term, and FedEx is still well positioned for growth and also has plenty of room to optimize operating margins and reduce costs, e.g. by using more AI. FedEx's cost-cutting initiative “DRIVE” and Network 2.0 aim to streamline operations in particular. FedEx aims to save at least $6 billion annually by 2028 without impacting revenue growth - I think this is realistic and the initial numbers show that FedEx is on the right track. We have seen a positive development this week (after further losses - also due to high energy prices and geopolitical tensions). I expect the current buying to continue a little longer. FedEx is also benefiting from Citi's recommendation to invest in freight companies after the sector has fallen sharply recently. We see FedEx opening 0.5% higher - we want to enter in the 262 - 263** range.

📊 SmartTrader Insights: Wednesday Markets Wrap 🗒
📆 Wednesday, October 9
❗️ Global markets mixed; China sharply lower; Google facing antitrust scrutiny weighs on US tech
► European markets were mixed today following sharp losses in China and uncertainty surrounding U.S. economic data. The Stoxx 600 is flat, driven by cautious sentiment as traders await further clarity from Chinese authorities on stimulus measures. The CSI 300 Index plunged 7.1%, erasing its advance from Tuesday, when mainland markets reopened after the Golden Week holidays. Germany recorded a trade surplus of €22.50 billion in August, with exports rising 1.3% and imports down 3.4%.
► U.S. futures fell following reports that the U.S. Department of Justice is considering (or still considers) breaking up Google, raising concerns about an antitrust crackdown on Big Tech. We see the S&P 500 slipping 0.15% and Nasdaq 100 down 0.2% but already above earlier sharper losses. Nvidia shares helped Wall Street rebound earlier, but tech stocks still face pressure from a potential big tech antitrust crackdown. The 10-year Treasury yield stayed above 4.01%, reflecting ongoing uncertainty about the Federal Reserve’s interest-rate policy. Yields are slightly lower in pre-market trading (- 2bps for the US 10-Y). Investors are closely watching upcoming inflation data, including Thursday’s CPI report, which could influence future Fed rate decisions.
► Asian markets traded mixed today, with China’s CSI 300 plunging by over 7% as stimulus-driven rallies faded, while the Hang Seng in Hong Kong dropped 1.4%. Investors remain cautious as they await (or were hoping) for further fiscal stimulus announcements from China, with expectations of a major package between 2-3 trillion yuan. Japanese equities rebounded by over 1%, buoyed by gains in the tech sector and positive sentiment from the Reuters Tankan sentiment index, which rose to +7.
► Oil prices dropped significantly yesterday, driven by reduced geopolitical risk premiums following talks of a possible cease-fire in the Middle East. WTI Crude oil prices have stabilized at around $74/barrel. Meanwhile, gold traders faced heavy losses as prices dipped below $2610/oz yesterday (currently at near $2615). This was accelerated by panic selling and rising U.S. yields, though long-term prospects for gold remains bullish due to concerns over inflation and U.S. debt levels according to our chief analyst.

October, 1st (6 out of 6 = 100% 🏆 success rate) replaces September, 27th (5 out of 5 = 100% 🏆 success rate) in our 5-week period, increasing our success rate to 91% ‼️ over the 133 trades (in the period 28.08 - 01.10).
It is now an anomaly that we even lose a trade at all - with GM we closed one out of profit today (or potentially earlier for you) - which at least reminds us that it is not we who move the markets, but that we "only" play them as maybe Rachmaninov played the piano. We stay 100% focused, but also enjoy it while it lasts.
Congratulations on improving a success rate that has probably never been achieved before in short-term trading (over more than 100 trades). We continue to write trading history here – together. Thank you for being a part of it.

We can also go back a little further... After central banks, our gold trades are probably the most "efficient" money-printing machine in the world - I mean that quite jokingly, but I actually don't know of anything in short-term, even medium- and long-term investing that is as profitable as our gold trades.
Many of you have made a fortune with our gold trades alone (we are similarly successful with other asset classes). Please continue to share a portion of your profits with people in need and never forget that people (including those who give back to society, such as doctors, teachers, police officers, garbage wo/men, nurses/caregivers, etc.) work for months, if not years, for the profits that we often reap in a few days/weeks. Give back – thank you 💟!
⚡️ LIGHNTING-RAPID UPDATE 🕯
Gold (XAU/USD)🥇
SL 🔑 @: 2613.34
TP ✅ @: 2624.87
We traded twice against the market / short-term trend today and in both cases found good entries (although we could have really made a massive profit with our Gold SHORT).
We now set a tight in-profit SL / secure a small profit. In case our SL is triggered, Gold may test the the $2,600 - $2,605 range.
PS: I see that most of you have a much better initial entry. 👏
⚡️ RAPID UPDATE 🕯
Netflix (NFLX) 🇺🇸
SL 🔑 @: 714.23
TP ✅ @: 718.49
Netflix opened at 703.88 today - unfortunately I have a bad entry - but even with a delayed entry our position is very deep in profit. Netflix pushed indeed into the 715 - 720 range as we expected. We secure profits and set the TP near Friday's closing price.
Congratulations - one of the best possible NYSE opening / early NYSE opening trades.
⚡️ LIGHNTING-RAPID UPDATE 🕯
Nasdaq (NAS100 / US100) 🇺🇸
TP ✅ @: 19979.90 (my TP already triggered at 19969.90)
OR
CLOSE SOON / NOW ✅ @: 19975 - 19999
We now want to (still) reduce our exposure on Wall Street - with mixed markets and close our Nasdaq 100 soon (with ~80 points in profit). We are also LONG here in the Dow Jones and Netflix. If you've already put on your TP - and your TP is triggered (good close!).
The growth sector is benefiting from the sharp fall in energy prices.
Congratulations!

⚡️ LIGHNTING-RAPID UPDATE 🕯
Gold (XAU/USD)🥇
SL 🔑 @: 2660.31
TP ✅ @: 2640.22
The dip buying went a bit further than we expected but gold also pushed back into profit after it hit profit taking at ~$2,653. We set a not too wide TP here as we will likely continue to see gold hovering in the $2,630 - $2,655 range for a bit longer.
We don't want to close off-profit (thus work with a wide SL). We also see yields rising again now which put fundamental headwinds on gold.

We also closed our Friday with a 100% 🏆 success rate, as we closed our GBP/USD trade deep in profit (and practically perfect) today, as well as an (almost) perfect entry and closing price for our BAC position - both closed today. Friday - an NFP day - was very special for us, including our a profit of more than 200+ (!) pips with our USD/JPY intraday trade.
Today we had exceptional timing with gold - although we could have closed much deeper in the money on our third gold trade - as fundamental headwinds continue to weigh on the yellow precious metal, which is enjoying safe-haven demand.
With our Dow Jones we should have hedged profits earlier today - we set a TP that was not too wide.
Congratulations! 👏

⏱ Signal DELAYED by: 60+ (!) minutes! ⚠️⚠️
► We held a beautiful GBP/USD SHORT over the weekend, which we closed perfectly today before the pair was able to rally ~30 pips (from the daily low).
► We continue to see the USD supported, although it fell slightly today (the DXY fell 0.1%). We continue to see rising US Treasury yields and sharply falling rate cut expectations - the market now puts the chance of a 50 basis point rate cut at 0%.
► Oil prices are now at a multi-week high, with concerns about a further escalation of the conflict in the Middle East being the main driver. Rising oil prices support the USD.
► We are also seeing a generally more cautious market, which is weighing on the more risk-sensitive GBP.
► We re-enter the pair ~ around 20 pips above our triggered TP (1.30637 - 1.30652) in the 1.30840 - 1.30890 range. We expect resistance mainly in the 1.30900 - 1.31000 area, although overall there is little reason for investors to buy GBP - partly due to political uncertainty in the UK. Sue Gray - Chief of Staff to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer - resigned over the weekend, prompting the Prime Minister to reshuffle his team in Downing Street. Gray is at the center of an internal dispute in Number 10, and there are reports of friction and infighting within the prime minister's top team.

► We are going SHORT again in gold, which has first fallen back below $2,640 but is now rebounding back to $2,650+, with yields falling slightly after rising more sharply today. Yields on the US-10 are now around 3.5 - 4 basis points higher, and thus somewhat below the peak of around +5 basis points, which pushed yields on the US-10-Y well above 4%.
► We also see the USD moving sideways and the DXY trading almost unchanged (- 0.04%) after strong gains on Friday.
► Expectations for a Fed rate pause in November have continued to rise, from around 3-6% in pre-market trading to now over 16% (!) 📸. This is a dramatic change from the 1/3 chance of a 50 bps rate cut expected a week ago.
► While gold continues to benefit from rising demand for safe havens, we are repositioning ourselves SHORT (Range $2,649 - $2,653*).

We had excellent timing on the BAC trade - as we hit exactly the right turn-around range and closed very well.
