However, we (want to) remain LONG and now see AMD as still very attractive with a plis of 0.65% for the day (at 122.30) and still with significant upside potential (towards 130.00+ in the near-term). Even if AMD keeps encountering profit-taking after gains in the 1.5% - 2% range, the upside potential is still significant (in all time frames) after the sharp losses of two weeks ago, which were also due to concerns about further export restrictions.

► We are going LONG again at / slightly below our triggered TP.

► The weaker USD also provided a tailwind for commodity prices - oil prices are now near flat again, having previously fallen sharply on expectations that the US will further expand its leading position in oil production. We are selling the rebound.

► We see that future oil contracts are trading well below the February contract (currently around: Feb 76.50; March 76.00; April 75.00, May 73.40 etc.), which shows that the markets expect oil prices to cool further in the coming weeks/months.

► We see some profit taking, with the Nasdaq almost flat for today - especially under pressure from losses in Apple and Tesla (we had expected heavy profit taking in Tesla, but it went a bit further than expected - but will recover soon).

► We are taking advantage of this profit taking and want to continue to position ourselves LONG in growth / AI / chip / China sensitive stocks. I like Micron and AMD especially for 2025, but also see short-term potential for significant gains in both stocks towards January highs - although I find Micron more attractive in the longer term, but AMD here in the short term - with Micron currently at / near 2025 highs.

► AMD opened well today - reaching its highest level since January 7 and then being hit by profit-taking that pushed the chipmaker into negative territory. We buy here with AMD back near 121 and continue to see AMD as bullish and generally very attractively valued with a P/E ratio of 15, especially given the impressive sales growth in potentially the largest growth market in the world (AI - enabling / AI server / data center chips).

► AMD has shown weakness in some segments, which was also reflected in a mixed performance post earnings. However, the data center business is still key and AMD has seen strong growth and market share gains in this segment (albeit mainly from Intel and not Nvidia - with Nvidia being the clear winner now and in the coming years).

► I have no doubt that AMD will move towards $130 in the coming sessions - that means plenty of upside potential in the short and longer term.

Our performance this week was once again exceptional 🚀 – already at the beginning of the week. We closed all trades from Monday and Tuesday (and even on Wednesday) at a profit – some of them very deep in the money. However, our success rate over the 25-day period has fallen slightly because one 100% 🏆 day was replaced by last Friday, when we had 3 out of 6 (although one position is still open with MCD).

Otherwise, there is not much to update here, as all trades were already closed. MCD performed well today and closed 0.5% higher - our position is still open. We closed our AMD position from January 8 (+ re-entry) today with a nice profit.

We did what we have been doing so well this week and hit the dip extremely well. We expected support around 21350 and were spot on again.

We secured ~100 points profit with our SL and set the TP to the day's high. We are currently still seeing few signs that investors are becoming overly cautious ahead of Trump's inauguration next week (on Monday). However, markets usually become more cautious about 2 hours to 90 minutes before the end of regular trading - so now (especially on a Friday and with some uncertainties). If you want, you can close here and secure a profit of about 150 points.

Our profits in indices and stocks have been incredible this week. You can always remember that you almost perfectly traded the turnaround in the last week of Biden - a real achievement - that even only hand handful of the world's very best short-term traders have managed. Congratulations again!

Netflix also triggered our TP. That's pretty insane. In one the best weeks for us in a while - our Friday profits are may even outperform our insane profits from Wednesday. We could have not traded it much better - especially yesterday when we intensified our LONG position.

If you are still LONG in Netflix - you can close a bit better. I see Netflix in great shape also for further short-term gains ahead of its earnings report (and also bullish medium-term).

We again have an excellent market read and our predictions are spot-on. Tesla was a double trap today where many traders lost money: The first buyers ran into sharp profit taking, those who then panic sold (or SHORTed) ran into the rebound - we expected these moves. We did not hit the dip perfectly, but our position is in profit / potentially deep in profit.

AMD has almost reached our TP - we are tightening our SL and extending our TP. We see more upside potential for AMD this week and possibly a strong opening tomorrow.

Our Nasdaq 100 position is now also close to the TP. We are widening it a little and pulling our SL into profit.

The risk remains that Trump will intensify his rhetoric.

We remain LONG in Tesla (as well as the Nasdaq), where there was further profit-taking after investors were spooked by the initial profit-taking. AMD also saw significant profit taking after a strong opening. AMD made the “turnaround” exactly in the range where we had expected.

We generally see positive market sentiment, with stocks also benefiting from less aggressive statements on potential tariffs than many investors had feared.

US small-cap stocks (= risk-sensitive), but also companies that sell a lot outside the US, are clearly in the green. Equities outside the US are also currently enjoying cautious upward momentum.

We set now an in-profit SL for our AMD position. Meta has already reached our TP for a big profit - if you are still LONG - continue to close near 620 or our TP (620.63).

We will continue to make very good profits with stocks this week.

After our gigantic gains last week - especially with stocks / indices, we see a positive opening for Wall Street today / this week (also for our open positions).


🔹 Nasdaq (+0.6%) opens higher, although Apple (-2%) performs weak pre-market, as demand for riskier growth stocks continues, but also because analyst sentiment on Apple remains mixed / negative and a weak quarterly report (next week) is generally expected - I agree. We found a good entry point yesterday and now see Wall Street back near the 2025 highs.


🔹 Meta (+0.5%) opens higher - slightly above 615.00. We set our TP near Friday's highs TP ✅ @: 620.63.

🔹 McDonald's (+0.3%) remains in the current slightly bullish momentum after a positive close on Friday. We set a not too wide TP ✅ @: 284.47.


► Trump's statement that he is not considering immediate universal tariffs - including on Chinese imports - was received positively, although Trump has announced that the US will impose 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico on February 1.

► The Trump trade will get back on track and we generally see US equities/growth benefiting - even if there will now be some risk-off again, as Trump will certainly want to maintain the aggressive rhetoric. We are making the Trump trade again with the super volatile Tesla - which opens higher but will then see some profit-taking - possibly below 415. However, we see further gains for Tesla, not for fundamental reasons, but for sentiment reasons and yesterday's inauguration, which again shows that Musk will play an important role in the new US administration (even if officially only indirectly) and in goal setting / policy making. Tesla benefits from the fact that there are no immediate tariffs or even harsh words towards China - Tesla's most important market. Piper Sandler raised its Tesla price target to $500 (from $315) - more tailwinds for Tesla. We also see strong signs that Tesla is quickly establishing itself outside of EVs and will focus / monetize on other “real world” artificial intelligence projects in particular (i.e. integrating AI into products - such as robotaxis, robotics, autonomous driving).

► Even if a lot of things are dreams of the future, Musk is probably in the best position to realize his own uber ambitious projects.

► While we don't really see a dip - Wall Street (futures) are currently up 0.4% - 0.5% - we do see the market still well under earlier session highs. The “market” is generally optimistic that Trump will try to lower energy and oil prices in particular - which would counteract some of the many measures that have potential inflationary effects.

► Currently the inauguration is taking place (see here 📺) and we see the most powerful CEOs in the US/world - some of the big tech CEOs (the so-called "tech bros" - Zuckerberg, Bezos, Cook, Pichai and of course Musk) in prominent positions - which means they are likely to have a stronger influence and benefit from a more business/innovation friendly environment under Trump. We see no Steven Bannon, for example - another sign that Trump is focusing more on the economy (pro economy / business) and less on right wing populism - another positive sign. While the stock markets boomed, American companies were generally less than enthusiastic about Biden's approach to the economy and regulation.

► Even though it will take some time to understand the real impact of Trump's measures and some of them will be perceived as “disruptive”, we are seeing a lot of positive comments, including f. The markets are expecting around 100 executive orders.

► We expect last week's rally to continue and believe that much of what Trump will announce will not immediately be seen as positive but possibly protectionist - but it will generally result in even more capital flowing into the US.

► We can go LONG here or wait a bit (near ~21500).

News that the national energy emergency would be declared (although this was expected in advance) in order to boost domestic energy production, while at the same time trying to reverse President Joe Biden's measures to combat climate change, led to a clear pro-risk movement, also due to the generally low trading volume. The pro-risk move also caused the USD to fall (while riskier currencies rose). Despite the temporarily weaker USD, we see oil prices significantly lower. We see gold prices higher, despite the improved risk sentiment.

We are locking in our gains with our oil SHORT and going SHORT again in EUR/USD & GBP/JPY (which probably ended up in the SL for some of you).

Most analysts remain optimistic that Trump's executive orders - apparently around 100 orders - will create a more business-friendly environment.

❗️ Global markets steady ahead of Trump's inauguration; US markets closed for MLK Day

► European futures were steady, with investors awaiting Trump’s inauguration and the Davos Economic Forum, where Trump is set to speak virtually next week. We see reduced volatility due to US markets remaining closed today. The Stoxx 600 is flat. Last week’s UK retail sales disappointed (-0.3% vs. +0.4% expected), raising concerns about consumer spending weakness in the UK. The FTSE 100 remains near record highs, led by gains in energy, miners and financial stocks. Germany’s producer price index rose 0.8% YoY, below expectations of 1.1%, showing slower inflationary pressures in manufacturing - possibly also due to slowing demand. Meanwhile, the ECB continues to signal a cautious approach to rate cuts, with policymakers focused on wage growth and energy prices.

► US stock futures are trading slightly higher, with S&P 500 futures (+0.1%) and Nasdaq 100 futures (+0.15%) ahead of Trump's inauguration and as the markets awaits more details about Trump's policy agenda. Wall Street ended last week higher, fueled by a tech rally and Fed friendly inflation data, keeping rate-cut expectations alive. US bond markets remain volatile, with some traders now pricing in a 10-year Treasury yield rising to 6%, countering the broader market expectation of Fed rate cuts in 2025. Analysts see potential for higher yields if Trump implements aggressive pro-growth and protectionist policies. US Markets remain closed today on President Trump’s inauguration (but due to Martin Luther King Jr. Day). We also see caution as Trump prepares a flurry of executive orders on trade, energy, and immigration, which could introduce policy volatility.

► Asian stocks rallied, fueled by an apparent positive phone call between Trump and Xi Jinping, which raised hopes for easing US-China tensions. Trump described the conversation as "very good", boosting market confidence across Japan, China, and Australia. Japan’s Nikkei 225 (+1.16%) was supported by strong machinery orders data (+3.4% MoM), which beat expectations and signaled a recovery in business investment. The JPY strengthened past 156/USD, as traders positioned for a possible BOJ rate hike later this week. China’s Shanghai Composite (+0.13%) and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng (+1.78%) extended their gains. The offshore CNY strengthened to 7.32/USD, reaching a three-week high, after the People’s Bank of China (PBOC) left key lending rates unchanged, as expected. The stability in China’s policy backdrop helped maintain investor confidence.

► Oil prices declined with WTI Crude oil falling below $77/barrel (spot price) with oil prices down about 0.4% (Brent down 0.5%), as markets braced for potential Trump energy policy shifts. His plans to invoke emergency powers to boost US energy production could lead to increased supply, potentially capping oil prices. Meanwhile, geopolitical risks receded as Israel and Hamas struck a ceasefire deal after 15 months of war, alleviating short-term supply fears – which is also bearish for energy prices. Gold is little changed trading near $2,710/oz, with investors balancing Fed rate-cut bets against geopolitical uncertainties. The DXY weakened slightly, extending its pullback after a six-week rally, making gold more attractive for foreign investors.

► Crypto prices were volatile ahead of Trump’s inauguration, with Bitcoin briefly falling below $100K before hitting a new all-time high the same day. The pullback came as investors took profits from Trump’s newly released memecoin $TRUMP, which reached a total FDV of over $70 billion in less than a day. While crypto-linked stocks outperformed last week, analysts warn that Trump’s regulatory stance on crypto remains uncertain, which could add further volatility in the near term. SmartTrader is warning of a possible rug pull on the meme coins of Trump and his wife Melania ($MELANIA).

FYI: I closed half of my position at $74.90 (my entry was at 47.79). That's almost 57% profit.

SL is now at 63.70 and TP for 50% of the remaining 50% of the original position is $87.90 – the rest is basically open TP.

Actually, a perfect trade – you can basically always take this coin listing (on Binance) with you – but you also have to be able to close it.

The $TRUMP Coin has at least made a solid Binance start and after 15 minutes post Binance-Launch rose from $45 - $46 to currently above $60 - but that doesn't really mean much and this token will continue to be extremely volatile. You don't really make sense of any analysis. But I would guess that Trump doesn't want to be accused of a rug pull here - especially not in the first week of his inauguration.

If Trump just wanted to make millions or billions, he can actually do so relatively easily and at any time (Trump = the construct behind this official meme coin).

Of course, Trump has plenty of opportunities to generate interest in this “sh*t” coin via social media / X.

My strategy is to sell at a profit of around 35-50% (so close at around 70-74 - almost done) - let's see if that works. I already have the SL in profit anyway (48.90).

Absolutely outstanding week - congratulations 👏. However, today's gains were mainly due to very good trading, excellent position management and our accurate forecasting yesterday (and also on Wednesday) - when the markets took a breather that most investors interpreted as the end of the rally -> big mistake.

We did the opposite, as we often do, and positioned us even deeper LONG. In most cases, it is actually better to take a contrarian position (“going against the market”) - but only if you know what you are doing and understand when the "mispricing" will unwind.

We made huge profits again today, did exceptional position management again, and found great entries and really good exits 💯

That was an absolute masterclass of trading from us. ► Oil prices have now risen for the fourth week in a row, recently benefiting in particular from increased demand for commodities as a safe haven (following weakness in the equity markets) and a round of US sanctions (against Russian oil producers and tankers) that actually affected Russian exports and led to lower global supply – including among major oil importers China and India.

► Trump will understand that a rising oil price is a key driver of inflation. President-elect Donald Trump's Treasury Secretary nominee, Scott Bessent, said yesterday that he was prepared to impose tougher sanctions on the Russian oil sector. Bessent went even further, saying that the Biden administration was too concerned with raising prices while at the same time curtailing US oil production. The second half of this sentence is particularly crucial – MORE US oil production. A lower oil price will help to mitigate the effects of possible other tariffs and tax cuts currently expected from Trump – Trump will therefore try to influence the oil price.

► I expect Israel and Hamas to honor the ceasefire on Sunday, paving the way for the return of the first hostages from the Gaza Strip and ending a 15-month conflict that was particularly devastating for the Palestinian coastal strip. The potentia (bearish) impact on oil prices should not be underestimated if also the attacks by the Yemeni Houthi militia on ships in the Red Sea are halted after the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.

► Natural gas prices fell sharply today (by almost 8%).

► I also see limited downside for USD for now despite the recent fall in yields (although this was also seen outside the US).

► Brent is down about 0.6% today. We SHORT here at the key level of $80.00 (spot price) / $80.80 (MAR5 LCOH5).

We have received some questions about this. Yes, AMD and Microsoft (right after the opening) were also closed with large profits in the TP.

Screenshot of our other closed trades - including EUR/USD with our really almost perfect TP, as well as Tesla - which I traded with a slightly wider SL / TP, but I wanted to reduce your risk with this extremely volatile stock. If you are still in (Tesla), the best thing to do is to close here (~ at 433) – even though there may still be further profits, for me the risk of profit taking in the second half of the US trading session outweighs the risk here. Tesla was the best direct NYSE opening trade possible today (market cap > $30B).

For many of you, this week was filled with huge, potentially almost “life-changing” profits / or at least profits in the amount of several average monthly salaries (even with a relatively small trading volume).
