We see slight profit taking after strong gains. We missed some of the even stronger gains of Meta - today's top-performer but closed deep in profit (at TP โ
501.23). If you are still in - set your TP โ
at 511.49 // SL ๐ @: 506.67. Also our Goldman Sachs position closed deep in profit at TP โ
407.33 as well.
We set a near perfect TP for our Dow Jones position - which closed in our TP โ
38088.70 before hitting profit taking. The best possible Dow Jones Trade one could have made ๐
We now tighten the SL of our Nasdaq 100 position to secure higher profits. We continue to see an improved market sentiment - but as recent days showed - after stronger gains the nervous market secures profits.

We see more dip buying, but overall muted trading activity. TSMC's strong earnings report + outlook should help the major big tech stocks to rally again - which will help Wall Street to a small recovery today.

โบ We have found good entries into our equity positions and want to take some of them home with a profit soon. Tesla remains a big drag on the tech index and actually appears to be testing $150.00 soon. Many of you are still SHORT in Tesla based on my expectations. You can set a TP โ

โบ We buy the dip in (VIP ONLY). After a rather disappointing earnings report from Dutch semiconductor industry stock ASML, all chip stocks suffered heavy losses yesterday. However, TSMC, which is a better indicator of short-term demand, reported strong earnings and gave a good outlook. TSMC (VIP ONLY). We expect a rebound of (VIP ONLY). (VIP ONLY) opens ~(VIP ONLY)% higher at ~$(VIP ONLY). The (VIP ONLY) will remain volatile but will likely try to cut much of yesterday's losses. โบ We are already LONG on Wall Street (Nasdaq 100 with a very tight SL) and are also positioning ourselves LONG (and again) in the still underperforming Dow Jones.
โบ Travelers continues to weigh on the Dow Jones after the insurance giant closed down 7.4% yesterday and was the biggest drag on the Dow Jones. I expect Travelers to stabilize today and the Dow Jones to perform positively overall.
โบ The heavy losses in the semiconductor sector led to the S&P 500 closing negative for the fourth day in a row. We expect this to end today - thanks in part to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. reporting its first profit rise in a year and saying that continued strong AI demand has buoyed growth. TSMC is the world's largest contract manufacturer of chips.
โบ I expect little impact from initial jobless claims on stocks and interest rate expectations. We are coming back into the 30-stock-average below 37840 - that's about 100 points below the TP triggered yesterday (37934.90).

โ๏ธ Stocks & bonds climb as markets focus on earnings, robust economic data & temporary USD correction
โบ Global markets show signs of recovery as stocks advance and bonds see modest gains. In Europe, the Stoxx 600 index rose by 0.3%, indicating a cautious but positive start. U.S. futures suggest a rebound for the S&P 500 after recent declines, buoyed by promising earnings reports from major corporations like Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. in contrast to yesterday's rather less good report from ASML.
โบ In the U.S. futures also pointed to a positive start, potentially snapping a four-day losing streak for the S&P 500. Investor focus remains on upcoming earnings reports from major companies like Netflix and Blackstone, alongside initial U.S. jobless claims and various central bank speakers. The strength of the USD wanes temporarily, offering a breather to the emerging market currencies and potentially easing pressures on commodities.
โบ Asian markets experienced uplifts across major indexes, with China and South Korea showing strong performances amid renewed confidence in regional growth prospects. However, Japan's equities dipped slightly due to a decrease in manufacturer confidence, despite a stable JPY following a tri-nation agreement on currency stability with the US and South Korea. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) reported a strong earnings report with revenues of $18.87 billion, surpassing forecasts by $860 million, driven by robust demand for AI technologies.
โบ In the commodities sector, oil prices continued to fall after a significant drop yesterday, influenced by weak Chinese industrial data and a rise in U.S. crude inventories. WTI Crude oil is trading at $81.8/barrel. Conversely, gold prices edged higher to $2,380/oz, benefiting from the current geopolitical climate and market uncertainty. Gold finds currently some resistance at $2,380/oz - after it triggered our very well placed TP.

We have found a good entry point into the Nasdaq 100 - which has actually found support at 17500. We expect some gains in European trading. Gold saw another wave of profit taking, with some of the risk premium (worries about escalation in the Middle East faded somewhat) being reduced today. We tighten our TP slightly for the Nasdaq.
Gold remains bullish and is still in the current bullish price channel. We are now working with a relatively tight TP (given the current volatility) and close in profit (deep in profit for our re-entry). We want to close our gold position in the TP, but believe we can find a better re-entry - so we are not setting a very wide TP. If you are too deep positioned in gold, you can close your re-entry here at a profit or reduce the position size.
We see that the markets - including gold - are looking for direction. Gold has stabilized in a narrow sideways movement with dip buying and profit taking at a balance near $2,372.50 (for now)

We are well positioned and have a good understanding of the market - but we saw a return of profit taking after US chip stocks followed losses of ASML (which they didn't in pre-market trading). We trade with more caution.
We want to reduce our exposure for another profit taking wave and set our DAX now with an in-profit tight SL. Many of you have a better initial entry than me.
We also set a relatively tight TP for our Dow Jones position - which was weighed down by very sharp losses of Travelers and the overall losses in big tech (mostly chip stocks).
After the war premium, which was priced in due to the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, was further reduced, the oil price fell significantly into oversold territory. A slightly larger build-up of US crude oil inventories in the US also weighed on oil prices. Further panic selling is possible, but the outlook for oil remains bullish. However, lower oil prices have improved market sentiment as investors are still concerned about stubborn inflation. Lower oil prices reduce the impact of oil on inflation.

โบ There was renewed profit-taking in New York - driven by losses in chip stocks, particularly Nvidia, AMD, Intel and Applied Materials. Tesla also turned sharply lower again, falling by more than 2 %, which led to our TP being triggered (either at 156.41 or 154.56). Losses in the chip sector - which initially posted solid pre-market gains - widened after markets expressed concern over ASML's reported orders falling short of analysts' expectations as Taiwanese and South Korean chipmakers held back purchases of the Dutch company's most advanced machines.
โบ The DAX also lost much of its earlier gains. We can re-enter now near 17820 - 17830 and expect the Dow to find increasingly more support in the range 17800 - 17830.
โบ German insurance companies were also pressured by further heavy losses from US insurance giant Travelers, which reported lower than expected first quarter profits. Travelers is currently trading 8% lower and also weighed on the Dow Jones.

After a solid session in Europe, especially for cyclical stocks, we see cautious optimism in New York. We expect Wall Street to move higher today. We are LONG in Dow Jones - which would trade significantly higher if not for Travelers (down more than 5.5%).
๐น Chevron (- 0.5%) opens lower and seems to trigger our tight SL at 155.49. The energy sector remains oversold and is once again the worst performing sector in pre-market US trading.
๐น Tesla (+0.3%) recovers some of yesterday's losses and opens near yesterday's highs. We tighten our price target โ
@: 156.41. Barclays lowered its price target for Tesla from $225 to $180 per share, which could lead to further selling after an initial positive opening. Barclays is extremely late to the party here - as is often the case.
โบ We are buying some of the stocks that have recently seen profit-taking. Goldman Sachs reported very good earnings. Capital markets revenues were up 14% year-on-year - extremely strong and ranked #1 against the other five largest US investment banks. However, Goldman Sachs gave back much of its recent gains as the financial sector as a whole underperformed. We expect Goldman Sachs to rebound in early US trading.

BUY NOW ๐ผ Dow Jones (US30) ๐บ๐ธ
โบ The Dow Jones remains the most heavily sold US future and is still trading below its February lows. We assume that the current improvement in market sentiment will help Wall Street to recoup some of the recent heavy losses.
โบ There are no more negative surprises from the Fed - after Fed Powell and other Fed officials have already been rather hawkish. Powell said yesterday at a panel discussion with Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklem in Washington that the Fed can hold rates "as long as needed" if price pressures persist. He also added "The recent data have clearly not given us greater confidence and instead indicate that is likely to take longer than expected to achieve that confidence (..) Given the strength of the labor market and progress on inflation so far, it is appropriate to allow restrictive policy further time to work and let the data and the evolving outlook guide us".
โบ This is a very hawkish statement as it implies that the Fed is not sticking to its rate cut forecasts and is flexible (data dependent) to delay rate cuts further. However, none of this comes as a surprise as swap markets have already lowered rate cut expectations (below the FOMC's forecasts).
โบ We saw solid earnings / forecasts from European cyclicals, including LVMH and Adidas. The IMF raised its growth expectations for the global economy. We see signs of more growth and an improvement in economic and sentiment data - especially in Europe. The US economy remains strong.
โบ Travelers weighs on the Dow Jones today (again) after earnings miss expectations as catastrophe losses rise.
โบ We are taking advantage of the current mini dip that pushed the Dow below 37900 again and expect the Dow Jones to push back and above 38000 soon. Our DAX position hit our tight SL (well in profit) and fell a little further - we want to get back into the DAX soon.

โ๏ธ European stocks advance, US futures steady despite Fed's Powell signaling rate cut delays
โบ European futures are trading higher, with the Stoxx Europe 600 index getting a 0.5% boost amid mixed corporate earnings reports. Notable movements included ASML Holdings fell ~4% due to missed first-quarter orders and Adidas soaring (+7.6%) after upgrading its financial forecasts. UK markets were under pressure as inflation data came in hotter than expected at a 3.2% inflation rate for March, exceeding the forecasted 3.1%, signaling persistent price pressures. Eurozone inflation rate came in-line with expectations and the flash reading at 2.4% YoY down from 2.6% in February. Core inflation at 2.9% YoY down from 3.1% in February.
โบ US equity futures remain stable, are slightly positive as traders digested Jerome Powell's recent remarks suggesting a slower approach to reducing interest rates, contrary to earlier expectations. This sentiment was echoed by other Fed officials who see persistent inflation as a reason to maintain higher borrowing costs. This cautious outlook kept the Treasury yields near their peak for the year but Powell remarks didn't come as a surprise.
โบ Asian stocks showed a mixed response. Chinese stocks gained on after reassurances from the securities regulator about new stock exchange rules and positive manufacturing data. However, Japanese stocks fell due to disappointing order numbers from ASML and weakened confidence among large manufacturers.
โบ In the commodities sector, oil prices are unable to break the $85/barrel after the recent significant rally and profit taking post Iran's attack on Israel which many analyst feared could have been worse. Gold prices remained high, hovering currently around $2,385/oz, reflecting ongoing market volatility and investor inclination towards safer assets amidst fluctuating currency values and interest rate speculations.

Chevron remains oversold with oil (WTI - spot price) finding resistance at $85/barrel. The IMF now expects global growth of 3.2% in 2024, up by a modest 0.1 percentage point from its earlier January forecast. The outlook for oil prices remains bullish but we see that there was a bit of premium priced in due to the (ongoing geopolitical tensions). A potential Israeli retaliation could result in another surge in oil prices.

We also secure now big profits with our NVDA-position. We predicted Nvidia to push back into the $855.00 - $865.00 range - and that's exactly what we are seeing now. I still see more short-term upside potential here - but the chip sector remains volatile and investors concerned about sharp profit taking (as we have again seen at NYSE opening - more than we expected).

โบ We buy the dip in the Nasdaq 100, which fell back to almost 17400 - mainly due to the strong headwind from Tesla (-4.2%). The EV giant continues to crash and shows that the investment banks / analysts led their clients astray - and now (too late) downgrade Tesla (today = Deutsche Bank). Some chip stocks also initially saw profit-taking - we still expect the chip sector to rebound today.
โบ We find a very good entry point into the Nasdaq 100 here and take it.

๐ ROBโS DAILY UPDATE ๐
โผ๏ธ More dip buying after recent losses; Fed's "higher-for-longer" continues to weigh
Equities in Europe and the US got off to a solid start on Thursday but, as in previous sessions, saw renewed profit-taking as investors remain concerned that US interest rates will stay high for longer, yields will rise, inflation will persist and earnings may fall, which would not justify the still high valuations in New York.
The focus remains on economic data. Initial jobless claims in the US were slightly below expectations - another sign of a tight US labor market. The Philadelphia Fed manufacturing index came in at 15.5, well above expectations. Another round of strong US economic data briefly weighed on Wall Street - but the overall picture remains the same: The US economy remains resilient, continues to grow rapidly and does not need interest rate cuts at this time.
We expect further dip buying today as stocks are also technically oversold after four days of losses (for the S&P 500).
Markets will also be watching for further comments from Fed officials. However, after Powell's hawkish comments on Tuesday, I expect a muted impact from further hawkish comments.
ASML's rather disappointing results weighed heavily on the semiconductor industry yesterday. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, on the other hand, gave a better than expected sales outlook (and also reported a profit increase - above expectations). TSMC stuck to its plans to spend up to $32bn by 2024, which should bring back expectations of continued growth in AI demand.
Oil prices continued their recent slide as investors became less concerned about further escalation in the Middle East. I see oil as oversold here. Gold also experienced a slight headwind from easing concerns of an all-out war between Israel and Iran, but remains bullish. We made another strong gold trade in the last session and will continue to look for good entry prices.

We set an in-profit SL for our Nasdaq 100 position. We see positive signs for stocks today - also after Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. turned the view on chips / AI growth again and reported its first profit rise in a year, after strong AI demand revived growth at the worldโs biggest contract chipmaker.
Our TP earlier almost hit - we now see slight profit taking with the Nasdaq 100 trading only around 0.30% higher for the day. With again Tesla, weighing on the Nasdaq 100. We may see short-term profit taking again and thus secure profits. However, I expect a rebound in tech / chips stocks today. We are slightly widening our TP (again).
We are very well positioned and once again ahead of the markets - congratulations!

Following two days that were not particularly successful, our positions from April 16 ended all in profit (100% success rate), although we could have closed our Tesla position much deeper in profit. In today's session, the majority of our positions remain open. We continue to observe positive signs of improving risk sentiment. Tomorrow's TSMC earnings report will be important in this respect. Due to the potential risk on chip stocks, we did not purchase the sharp dip in today's semiconductor stocks. Gold experienced a brief sharp decline during the (low volume) overnight trading session. You can optionally, and if your risk management allows slightly widen your SL. Gold encountered headwinds due to a reduction in the risk premium and concerns about the potential for no Fed rate cuts in 2024. However, gold remains very bullish in the medium-/long-term.
I apologize for the confusion regarding the Dow Jones trade earlier. When we did the Nasdaq dip purchase, I thought the Dow Jones hit our SL - but it was the DAX in profit (The Dow Jones would have not even hit our SL - 37716.90 by now). Our very well-positioned TP triggered - thank you for your messages regarding this. Both our DAX and Dow Jones positions closed well in profit.

First time since October 2023 that we lose 5 trades in a row - with Chevron closing in our SL today. It first looked like a rebound from oversold conditions but then oil saw more selling following a sharp drop in oil prices. April 15 does not look promising - we were a bit unlucky that our EUR/USD didn't hit our TP (missed by 4 pips). USD remains in demand but has short-term correction potential. We work with a tight SL.

BUY NOW ๐ผ Netflix (NFLX) ๐บ๐ธ
โ ๏ธ (it was previously stated here that our Dow Jones position would have ended up in the SL - our Dow Jones position closed in the TP) โ ๏ธ
โบ We see oversold conditions in New York - but especially in the tech sector - with chip stocks extending their losses. Nvidia -3.4 %, Broadcom -3.3 %, AMD -5.3 %, Qualcomm -2.6 %, Applied Materials -5.0 %, Intel -2.0 %, Lam Research -4.9 %, Micron -4.3 % etc. weigh heavily on the Nasdaq 100, which is down 1.2 % on the day.
โบ The importance of the Dutch semiconductor giant ASML, which reported a decline in sales, becomes apparent. While the figures are not shocking, they show that any news that is not seen as very positive is seen as negative and possibly a sign that the AI-driven mega gains in the chip sector are happening less quickly than hoped.
โบ We buy the Nasdaq here at 17500 and see oversold conditions. Fed Chairman Powell's hawkish comments have also weighed on sentiment today - even if they haven't done much to dent rate cut expectations. Yields have even fallen. We also see a slightly (temporarily) weaker USD.
โบ We are also buying Netflix, which is currently down 0.8% ahead of tomorrow's earnings report (after the bell). We buy here Netflix at ~$612.00. I believe we will see more positive analyst sentiment and Netflix can report strong subscriber growth again. Netflix is likely to rise ahead of the earnings report, especially since the streaming giant jumped after recent results - e.g. up 11% when Netflix's Q4 earnings report was released.
โบ TSMC will report tomorrow - therefore we are working with a not too wide SL for our Nasdaq position. A worrying report would extend today's sell-off in the chip sector.

โบ Your pending order at 2371.26 may have triggered. We saw gold a bit further falling after again profit taking kicked in again in the range $2,395 - $2,400.
โบ Sharp losses in semiconductor stocks (in the USA) - after ASML's results brought back concerns of increased profit-taking and overpriced chip/AI stocks.
โบ ASML reported a good net profit of โฌ1.22bn, exceeding expectations. However, sales fell short of expectations, dropping 22% to โฌ5.29bn,, below the expected โฌ5.39bn, and below the โฌ7.24bn, of the previous year. CEO Peter Wennink said that the outlook for the full year 2024 remains "unchanged".
โบ Wee d expect gold to continue to benefit from continued investor caution and yields giving back some of the recent strong gains. If you are not LONG already get in now / soon (range $2,365 - $2,370).

โบ Wall Street opened positively, but then profit-taking came back. Meta also opened 0.5% higher, but then suffered profit-taking, which led to Meta losing more than 1% and hitting a new 2-week low at nearly $495.00.
โบ We are again buying the tech giant's dip and expect investors and analysts to become more optimistic ahead of Meta's upcoming earnings report next week.
โบ Meta has managed to improve monetization after two years of compression while increasing the number of active users. With Google's planned elimination of cookies and Apple's privacy policies (which initially weighed heavily on Meta), I now expect the social media giant to benefit as it has been able to significantly improve ad targeting/effectiveness in contrast to its competitors. Other key AI integrations also appear to have improved recommendation results for users and advertisers, further improving results for both parties.
โบ I expect Meta to rise back above $500 very soon with more buying ahead of the earnings report. We can re-enter Meta well below our SL (in-profit) triggered yesterday.

๐ ROBโS DAILY UPDATE ๐
โผ๏ธ Impact of "higher-for-longer" fades; Europe leads global equities higher
Market sentiment has continued to improve following mostly positive signals from the cyclical sector in Europe, showing that European equities can rebound after recent positive momentum showed signs of fatigue - led by heavy profit-taking in New York as concerns over a prolonged Fed rate hike increased. Ongoing geopolitical tensions have also weighed on market sentiment in recent weeks.
Israel is still considering a response to the first attack on the Jewish state from Iranian soil. Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, in a rare, outspoken joint statement, called for maximum "self-restraint" to save the region "from the dangers of war and its dire consequences".
Futures on Wall Street are pointing to a slightly positive opening, indicating a possible recovery after the recent sharp profit-taking. Signs that US Treasury yields may have reached a temporary peak are also contributing to the improvement in sentiment. The USD has also stabilized.
Now that the US Federal Reserve has shown more hawkishness in its latest statements - although this did not come as a surprise - further surprises in the form of further delayed interest rate cuts are becoming less likely. Hopes of monetary easing in the near future have been dashed. After up to six rate cuts were expected at the beginning of the year, traders are now betting on fewer than two rate cuts.
The focus is now on corporate earnings. We have had a mostly solid start with good results in the first quarter, but some cautious forecasts so far. I believe we will see another strong earnings season which will help global equities recover some of the recent losses.
European natural gas has risen for the fifth day in a row (although the price of natural gas has fallen by almost 10% this week - a European phenomenon). Oil prices continue to show weakness, giving back much of the recent upside that had been priced in due to concerns over the threat of war in the Middle East. Energy stocks are still oversold, but will probably bottom out soon. Gold remains close to record highs but encountered resistance yesterday at $2,395. Gold remains attractive.

We also reduced the amount of open positions. However, we must highlight our excellent performance with gold today. We found great / near perfect entries and also closed our last gold trade (with the highest closing of the day) extremely well before gold was hit by yet another wave of profit taking. We now see gold at ~2383.00 - actually slightly negative (!) for the day while we brought three very big GOLD LONG trades home in profit. It's hard to imagine that anyone traded gold short-term better than us today - congratulations!
We see the market calming down a bit - thus we want to see what gold does in early Asian trading (recently mostly positive for gold). We saw stocks moving in complete sideways today (slightly bullish) - searching for more guidance - also as visible in the Nasdaq 100 ๐ธ
