► While most analysts warn about the very high valuations in New York - the S&P 500 is trading at a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of almost 25 - I expect that the current Trump optimism and the hope for further red tape reduction (= deregulation) by Trump, including higher oil production, can still drive Wall Street significantly higher here. The overall strong mandate for Trump will likely lead to many reforms that will initially boost economic activity (and lead to a lot of positive sentiment, which in turn boosts economic activity).

► We see Wall Street a bit hot just ahead of the NYSE opening and ahead of today's Fed rate decision.

► We are buying the strong underperformer here - the French CAC - which has been somewhat sidelined given the gains in the US, the additional boost in Germany from investors cheering the end of the unsuccessful coalition government, and concerns about China (which, however, rallied today on the back of recent improved economic data). The political situation in France remains uncertain as Macron's time is running out and his approval rating is near rock bottom during his five and a half years as French president.

► Retail sales in the Eurozone were also good today. The French luxury sector is generally benefiting from an improving global economy (our outlook), although analysts are concerned about more US protectionism and possible tariffs.

► ArcelorMittal rallied strongly today after strong gains (is in the CAC40). We also see upside potential in financials, industrials and consumer discretionary - important sectors for the CAC. We are also buying the underperformance as we generally want to maintain a LONG position in the equity market. We see the DAX rising strongly today - now back above 19300. We expect the CAC to rise quickly above the 7400 level, find support there and then rally further.

Despite the rate cut, (VIP ONLY) rose slightly for now as it was expected that the Bank of England would once again position themselves as hawks and signal a “gradual approach” to rate cuts after holding rates steady at their September meeting and cutting rates by 25 basis points today.

► I don't expect the Bank of England to keep rates much higher than the ECB or Fed for longer (and also don't see the market believing it), especially after the latest inflation data shows that inflation is no more of a problem in the UK than in the US or Eurozone (minus some countries like Italy where we are already seeing inflation well below 2%) - plus we saw a fall in wage growth before the budget update - which (VIP ONLY)...

❗️ US stocks hold post-election gains, Europe rebounds; Sentiment remains positive ahead of expected rate cuts (Fed & BoE)

► European futures rallied on strong gains in New York following post-election optimism, boosted by the clear victory of Trump that does not require a lengthy recount, as well as expectations of a Fed rate cut later today. Investors are weighing the potential impact of US fiscal policy on inflation. Germany reported a trade surplus of €17 billion in September, which was lower than expected. The DAX index also rose after German Chancellor Scholz announced the break-up of the unpopular and constantly feuding ruling coalition. Investors are also watching the Bank of England's interest rate decision later today, where a rate cut to 4.75% is expected. Eurozone retail sales came in significantly better-than-expected (at 2.9% YoY vs. 1.3% expected) also providing some tailwinds to European stock market futures.

► US equities rose sharply, led by small caps and financial stocks hoping for an easing of regulation under Trump's presidency. The S&P 500 rose by 2.5%, the best performance in history following a US election. Currently, Nasdaq futures are up 0.15%, while S&P 500 futures are unchanged. Futures for the Russell 2000 Index rose by almost 6%, with tech and industrial stocks also gaining in anticipation of domestic market-led growth. Government bond yields rose 15 basis points as markets braced for possible inflation due to Trump's tax plans. Markets are now awaiting the Fed's interest rate decision later today, which is expected to cut rates further to 4.75%.

► Asian equities saw mixed movements - overall gains, with Chinese equities leading the way on optimism over potential stimulus measures and robust export data. The CSI 300 climbed by more than 2% after initial losses, supported by expectations of new fiscal policy measures from Beijing. Japan's Nikkei initially fell 0.33% as the JPY strengthened following warnings from authorities about excessive currency movements, but recovered in later trading. Hong Kong's HSI rose more than 2%, recovering from its earlier weakness.

► Oil prices retreated after a volatile session as pressure from US tariffs that could weigh on the Chinese economy persisted, reducing demand from the world's largest oil importer. Analysts also expect the US to further expand the already massive increase in US production under Trump. WTI crude oil is currently trading 1% lower at under $71.0/barrel. Gold recorded slight gains. However, the gold price remains supported at around $2,660 as investors are cautious ahead of the expected Fed rate cut, which could affect medium-term inflation trends. Bitcoin slipped slightly after hitting a record high above $76,000 due to Trump's positive stance on cryptocurrencies.

❗️ Germany faces new elections: Scholz dismisses Finance Minister Lindner

The misery has FINALLY come to an end. Positive news for Germany / Europe. We also see a slightly positive reaction in after-hours trading. The DAX was able to find itself at 19000 anyway, as we expected.

The Ampel, German for traffic light, as the coalition consists of the Social Democratic Party (red), Free Democratic Party (yellow) and the greens seems to be at an end: The Federal Chancellor has announced that he will dismiss all FDP ministers. Finance Minister Lindner had previously asked Chancellor Scholz for new elections.

The parties also struggled to reach an agreement on the 2025 budget, which still has a funding gap of several billion euros and is still being negotiated. The deadline for the budget has been set for the end of the month.

Federal Minister Lindner and the other FDP ministers are dismissed by the Federal President.

Chancellor Scholz “In the very first week of the Bundestag session, I will put forward the vote of confidence so that the Bundestag can vote on it on January 15. This will allow the members to decide whether they want to clear the way for early elections.” These elections could take place by the end of March.

► The DAX only found temporary support at 19300 and some profit-taking led to panic selling among traders in Frankfurt, who showed similar concerns (of more US protectionism) that we have also seen in China. Of course, the losses in China also weigh. We are seeing very volatile markets, which can usually lead to profit-taking on their own. Our DAX is down sharply here and is in danger of ending our winning streak. We expect support at key-level 19000.

► We are also seeing a small rotation from global markets (back) to Wall Street - with New York holding its gains well (for now). However, the DAX is unlikely to end the day deep red, while the S&P 500 is up 1.5 - 2%.

► We are therefore making a small re-entry here, but are also working with a (now) tight SL slightly below 19000. If this level does not hold, the DAX could sell off a further 2-3% in the short term. We assume that the DAX will soon find a bottom and try to rebound.

► It is positive for risk sentiment that the result is clear - a vote count, which would have taken weeks, would have caused considerable uncertainty and was already partly priced in.

First of all, it's a real shame that we (or at least I) have broken our 3️⃣0️⃣(!) consecutive gold winning streak. It was likely the longest active winning streak in the world (in short term / intra-day gold trading). Even more annoying is that it was a trading mistake (way too cautious with little volatility anyway) - I traded with a way too tight SL - I didn't even widen it (as I asked you guys to do - but even the slightly widened SL (2726.47) would have been triggered). Many of you kept the gold trade open and closed at / near $2,750 (or at 2746.77) as planned - congratulations!

It's still a real shame of course - especially as we had predicted today's move so accurately (including the temporary resistance at $2.750)

After that, however, we made good gold trades even if they all ended up in the SL (we are still LONG in gold - well in profit). You can work here with a TP that is not too wide. You can also set a TP that is not too wide for our DAX position. We found a good entry point - but Wall Street closed pretty well (we also saw gains in Asia yesterday and will likely see more slight gains tomorrow). We also set a (SL optional &) TP for our GBP/USD position.

Other than that, we traded today's market very well and also positioned us well yesterday (exception: too tight SL Gold). We saw a market today that was really quite different from what almost all analysts would have expected. We can therefore be very satisfied that we nevertheless traded the market well.

Sorry for the little delay today - I had an early meeting with our development team regarding our upcoming medium-term investment platform (it took a bit longer than expected).

If your DAX position has already reached the TP (at 19251.60 - 19297.30 or deep in profit overall), congratulations, we found the perfect (re-)entry price yesterday as the DAX actually found support at 19000. This TP - more than 250 points above entry is very good. If you are still LONG, you should close soon or work with a tight TP.

An additional boost came from the fact that the US election was clearly won by Trump and the Republicans and also that Vice President Harris has conceded her loss - there will be no legal battle here as many analysts have predicted.

It was a chaotic few days (extremely difficult to trade) - we certainly could have positioned us deeper in the Trump trade - especially in cryptos, Coinbase, Tesla and financials. In the end, we chose probably the most difficult one: LONG USD with our GBP/USD SHORT, which we closed with more than 100 pips in profit.

Overall, we made exceptional trades and also managed our open positions exceptionally well - congratulations! 👏

We made a phenomenal (counter-trend) trade yesterday with our GBP/USD and a similarly impressive one today with Amazon. We have traded the chaos in gold very well over the last ~36hrs. This included an exceptional gold LONG trade in today's session (which hit both the optional pending order and our TP). We unfortunately missed the subsequent GOLD SHORT - which was actually a simple trade given the strong USD gains.

We may slightly update SL / TP for our DAX position - which could get a little extra boost from the prospect of a new German government in H1/2025 and the fact that the current coalition will now have to work more closely with the Conservatives in opposition.

We are also putting a not-too-far TP for our gold position.

► We also see that USD gains are encountering resistance. While the DXY is still +1.6% for the day, it is showing signs of cooling slightly (still the strongest day for the USD since 2022).

► Other industrial/precious metals are also showing strong losses, although these are largely due to higher yields and the rise in the USD.

► Gold has also benefited from the risk premium resulting from concerns about uncertainty following the US elections. However, this premium has completely evaporated today with Trump's clear victory.

► We are already seeing a stabilization in oil prices and will probably see similar movements in base metal prices, which will then also stabilize silver (and subsequently gold).

► Ongoing concerns about high debt levels and slightly higher inflation in the long term are also supporting gold, which is very attractive at current prices for medium to long-term investments. We see support at $2,660.

Trump won the US election by a larger margin than expected (not by us / but by “experts”, “analysts” and the media). The mandate is very clear after all - this won't go to court.

🔹 Boeing (+ 1.4%) opens strong and has more room to the upside. We set a TP ✅ @: 155.27. Boeing will remain volatile.


► We see Wall Street on the upswing - especially small cap stocks, as well as industrial and financial stocks in the hope of relaxed financial regulation and, in particular, domestically oriented companies. Futures for the Russell 2000 Index rose by around 6%, showing that stocks, which are generally more sensitive to financial conditions and the short-term economic outlook, are making massive gains. There were also strong gains in Tesla, which benefited strongly from Musk's massive support for Trump, as well as crypto companies such as Coinbase, which are hoping for less regulation for cryptocurrencies under a Trump presidency.

► Meta underperforms strongly due to fears of a rise in Elon Musk's X and Donald Trump's own social media network. Nevertheless, Meta performed well yesterday - we therefore do not need to buy the strong underperformance here - I also see too much risk for more "panic selling". We are going into retail / overall economic growth - and although I would prefer to go a bit more small-cap, we see a solid entry in Amazon and also don't want to be hit by profit-taking / strong volatility in the smaller stocks. Amazon opens almost flat. We buy and stay out of the massive volatility here (for now).

► Wall Street has run a little hot (but has more upside potential in the short term). We are seeing very strong gains in small-cap stocks - this shows the great optimism for/from US companies - especially “smaller” companies or those that are very strongly linked to the domestic economy are gaining. This optimism can go a long way. Tech stocks are also up - despite the sharpest rise in the USD in more than two years (just one day after the market sold the USD to multi-week lows). Elon Musk's Tesla rose 15% in the meantime.

► We see the EUR/USD now testing the 1.07000 level after rising above 1.09350 yesterday. The USD is now somewhat overbought in the short term, but is also supported by a sharp rise in yields.

► We see the DAX as a stark underperformer in Europe / the US, as the German economy is still reacting strongly to events in China and analysts in Frankfurt are still unsure whether a second Trump presidency would harm the European / German economy in the medium term. The decoupling from China is the bigger threat (and reality) for the German economy - Germany needs strong leadership now and needs to make inroads into other markets (such as India) as well as cooperate within Europe and the US as much as possible without permanently damaging relations with China. Above all, Germany / Europe must become more competitive again. Lower oil price would help here.

► Political instability in Germany is also weighing on the DAX. Economic data from the eurozone (including from Germany, e.g. factory orders) showed cautious signs of improvement today (with some exceptions).

► We are buying the DAX here in slightly negative territory (with some profit-taking in New York too - after strong gains). We made a very good DAX SHORT yesterday. 19300 has turned from resistance to support. We expect dip buying below 19300.

❗️ European markets recover after initial losses thanks to US optimism; Trump trade boosts small caps, USD, crypto

► European markets saw a reversal of early losses as U.S. optimism bolstered sentiment across the region. The Stoxx Europe 600 index climbed by around 0.7% after futures pointed to a U.S. rally, with sectors like industrials and financials gaining. The stronger U.S. dollar pressured the euro and pound, reflecting global shifts in anticipation of Trump’s pro-growth policies. Novo Nordisk’s Q3 net profit grew by 21%, with an optimistic 2024 growth outlook at 23-27%.

► In the US, markets surged on expectations of a Trump victory. US stock futures soared, with S&P 500 futures climbing close to 2%. The "Trump trades" saw a surge, driven by expectations of reduced regulation, corporate tax cuts, and a stronger USD. Small caps outperformed, with the Russell 2000 index jumping 5.5% as domestic-focused companies looked to benefit from Republican policies. Treasury yields rose sharply, with the 10-year hitting a four-month high at 4.40%. The USD index posted its strongest advance since 2020, climbing 1.5%. The USD strength is in stark contrast to yesterday's market moves (before results came in) where many investors sold the USD (our Chief Analyst Robert Lindner positioned us LONG in the USD against the market move)

► Asian stocks had mixed reactions to Trump’s gains in the U.S. election, reflecting regional concerns over U.S.-China trade tensions. The offshore CNY slid, and Hong Kong stocks fell as investors braced for potential trade tensions with a Trump administration. Markets in China were also slightly lower as manufacturing data highlighted only modest economic recovery. Japan's Nikkei gained over 2%, supported by a weaker JPY. Sentiment in Asian markets was cautious, as regional assets felt the weight of a stronger USD and rising U.S. Treasury yields.

► In commodities, WTI crude oil futures dropped by over 1.5% to around $70.8/barrel, as discussions around a Middle East ceasefire eased geopolitical risk premiums but also naturally pressured from the surge in the USD. Gold and other commodities faced headwinds from a surging USD and rising U.S. yields. Gold is currently at $2,725/oz after dipping as low as to $2,720. Bitcoin, meanwhile, saw strong gains, breaking past the $75K mark temporarily, reflecting optimism around Trump’s supportive stance on crypto.

Great trades ahead of the US elections ... but apart from the US elections, a quick (video) message from me.

I haven't talked to you “in person” in the last few weeks (has it been months?) but wanted to take a moment to congratulate you (all of us) on our recent performance (including the truly insane 95.8% success rate = 5 lost trades out of 120). It really is incredible. It's important for me to emphasize that we achieved this TOGETHER. What makes me (or us) most happy is that we know how many of you benefit from our daily work / dedication. We are delighted that so many beautiful people from all over the world have found a home with SmartTrader.

Many of you don't know that SmartTrader itself is not a profitable project (it actually costs a lot of money to keep SmartTrader running) and has only been financed with my trading profits over the last years - BUT we are very happy that we can help you and do our little share to make this world a bit better. I would also like to thank the TEAM - many of you do incredible work - for little money / or even “on a voluntary basis”. Many of you are probably still awake and following the US elections. It's looking very good for Trump. It's very close in Arizona, but Trump is ahead in most of the other swing states - most notably Georgia (at 52.2% (Trump) vs 47.2%) and Pennsylvania (50.2% (Trump) vs 48.8%) - although Harris is likely to win Michigan (50.4% (Harris) vs 47.8%) (but I didn't see that as a swing state). Depending on how close the race is (usually in favor of the Democrats), absentee ballots may also matter, but they aren't always counted last.

Betting on a Trump win has increased dramatically, with odds now at 86% - for me, a Trump win is absolutely clear now (99.9% certain). While the media saw Kamala Harris in the lead slightly, Trump will probably win relatively clearly (as we expected) - at least in terms of electoral votes. Congress also currently looks very Republican overall (the Senate in particular will end up 100% Republican).

We made an absolute PERFECT gold trade (already hit TP at ✅ @: 2748.87) - also our pending order price was near perfect. Besides gold - we see strong gains in stocks and the USD - in case you are still SHORT in the GBP/USD 👉 SL 🔑 @: 1.29216 // TP ✅ @: 1.28886 (very, very deep in profit now) - please update your SL & TP (or close now below 1.29000) - how wrong the market was once again is very visible in the USD with investors sharply selling the USD (we did the opposite).

We also see Wall Street gaining a bit further (after an already strong regular trading day). Bitcoin went further up - now up around 7% over the past 24h.

...I can't believe we've improved our success rate further - to 95.8% now 😮 in our five-week period. This is so far away from what I think was even possible that I cross-checked our 120 positions again....

We only lost 5 out of 120 trades ‼️ in the five weeks from Sept. 26 to Oct. 29. This is the most insane performance in short term trading / intraday trading (any trading at all) that I have ever seen and probably will ever see. In 20 years of working in the financial industry - from analyst, asset manager to trader - this is the craziest track record I've ever seen or even heard of ... To me it feels as impossible as a small village club from Slovenia winning 6:0 against Real Madrid - I have no comparison I could use...

► We closed the DAX very well (✅ 19116.60) near today's low - which is now almost 200 points away. The DAX rose by 0.7% (or around 1% from the low), benefiting from gains in Asia (especially China), recent better-than-expected economic data (including from the eurozone) and also significant gains in the US - which is often the case on election day - as a lot of uncertainty is often priced in before the actual election.

► Even if the importance of the US elections for Wall Street's medium-term outlook is generally overestimated, we expect uncertainty in the coming days as the final outcome is likely to be significantly delayed (too close to call) / may even go to court and end with a surprise either way (as the markets are divided on who will win - and both candidates are pursuing very different courses on almost all important issues - including the partnership with Europe).

► We are selling the DAX here as we see gains that went too far in the short term. Gains in the US also went very far - especially in tech after a mega earnings report (and gains) from Palantir also boosted other chip/AI stocks. Nvidia is up almost 3%, making it the most valuable company in the world again (as predicted earlier today). I also expect more resistance for the Nasdaq in the 20250 - 20300 range or the S&P 500 at almost +1% up for the day (5780 - 5790).

► We are trading strongly against the market here - but expect more resistance towards / or slightly above 19300 and profit taking later in the day.

► Once again we have made an excellent (actually almost perfect) gold trade - or in this case actually just the entry and the expectation that the gold will quickly test 2750. However, we were once again a little too cautious with our SL.

► The ISM US services PMI, which came in stronger than expected, led to a slight short-term dip in the gold price (or USD and yields rebound to be more precise) as it reduced expectations that the US economy needs much monetary easing. This gives us a chance to re-enter at almost the same price as our triggered (in-profit) SL - or even below.

► Yields jumped after the ISM services PMI and are now at +4.5 basis points for US 10-year yields.

► We are buying this dip and expect gold to trend back towards $2750+. Gold is also currently seeing dip buying in the $2,735 - $2,740 range.
