I have never voted in the Russian presidential elections but there is a chance that an anti-war and pro-freedom candidate (Ekaterina Duntsova) will be eligible for elections if she receives 300k signatures. As of present every single party in the Duma supports the war. I could never have predicted this. Trump has the youthful energy on his side while Biden is supported largely by out of place boomers.

There is a major asymmetry of power in terms of relative strength of left and right wing interest/advocacy groups as well as their general mode of operation.
Right wing interest groups, are primarily built upon broad, universal and abstract principles of liberty or religious values while left wing interest groups are particularist single issue identity group coalitions bargaining for power.

Those who mourn Gonzalo Lira as this great “champion of peace” and “beacon of reason” forget how excited and joyful he was when Russia has originally invaded Ukraine. In a Discord conversation we had in late February of 2022 he told me that he can’t wait to see the Ukrainian elites being punished and put on trial by the Russian garrison that would inevitably arrive to Kyiv.

When Russia invaded Ukraine he demanded me to publicly denounce Zelensky while 🇺🇦 was fighting a defensive war for their life. I didn’t, so he made a massive shit storm about me on Telegram (accusing me of weird shit I have never done or believed in) which I have never replied to.
Since then he continued parroting the pro-Putin’s line despite literally living in Ukraine. That was very disrespectful of him as a foreigner.
The Ukrainian government coming after him was a matter of time, and he was a massive dumbass for not taking his chances and running away to Russia where he would have become a famous anti-Ukraine grifter like Scott Ritter et al.
For future, don’t side with the enemies of the place that granted you a residency. A general advice for everybody.
