🇷🇺🇺🇦 JPMorgan analysts believe the war in Ukraine is entering its final phase and expect fighting to freeze by the end of Q2 2025.
They see a 50% chance of a “Georgian scenario” — no foreign troops, weak support, stagnation, and Ukraine drifting into Russia’s sphere of influence.
Other scenarios:
• Israeli (20%) – Long-term Western military and economic aid, no foreign troops. Ukraine becomes a fortified buffer, but no peace deal.
• South Korean (15%) – Ukraine keeps 80% of its territory, develops as a stable democracy with U.S. protection, but doesn’t join NATO.
• Belarusian (15%) – Worst-case: U.S. pulls out, Europe falters, Ukraine capitulates and becomes a Russian vassal. Global order collapses.v

It is probably the first time that I'm writing about the Ukrainian war-crimes, but the scale and audacity of this one makes it impossible to ignore.
It was just revealed through a recent prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine that in August 2024, Ukrainian forces reportedly abducted at least 120 Russian civilians—primarily elderly individuals and women—in a manner disturbingly reminiscent of Hamas-style tactics. These civilians, taken by force, are now being used as leverage in prisoner swaps for Ukrainian POWs. Below are two videos: one showing the forcible loading of civilians into a truck for transport to Ukraine, and another documenting some of those civilians being released as part of the exchange.
Previous Ukrainian war crimes in Russia included torturing to death 10 Russian civilians in occupied Russkoye Porechnoye (I'm guessing they resisted getting sent to Ukraine so they could later be exchanged for Ukrainian POWs).
At the same time, Russia also holds many Ukrainian civilians, but most of them are men which have violently resisted the occupation. Ukraine simply kidnapped everyone they could come across which is a totally different thing. For I really doubt that 75 year old babushkas could really mount a resistance to the Ukrainians.
This does not excuse the previous Russian war-crimes which of course dwarf the Ukrainian ones in scale, however the chutzpah of this particular one puts Ukraine on par with Hamas at least in relation to the kidnapping of hostages that they could later use for leverage.

The force that made progress possible in history, as Western thinkers long realized, was not some initial state of tranquility and goodness, but the “tumultuous and dangerous passions” of man. These were the passions that Christian theologians believed had brought an end to the mythical world of Adam and Eve. Humans were not rational and free at the beginning of history.
As Hegel liked to remind his readers, God ratifies Satan’s prophesy after Adam has eaten the forbidden fruit: “Look, Adam has become like one of us, and knows what is good and evil”. Adam and Eve were happy in paradise but they had not yet asked the reason why they were happy, what the good life was. They were not human, for they had not achieved anything, had not worked, and had not disciplined their basic instincts. Paradise is for beasts.

I disagree with some of the framing and objections but I also think that some critiques are valid. It is certainly possible to further merge Capitalism with what I call “Market Democracy” such that property status and wealth could matter a great deal for direct political influence.

A recent poll asked Russians which countries they dislike the most. The results were:
1. France — disliked by 48% of respondents
2. United Kingdom — disliked by 42%
3. Germany — disliked by 41%
Interestingly, Ukraine didn’t rank in the top three. But before the war it was regarded as an enemy by 53% of Russians. Since SMO began, Russian attitudes toward Ukraine have gradually softened and only 38% of Russians presently regard it as an enemy despite fighting a war against them.
Another notable trend: around 3/4 of Russians express dislike for the United States when the Democratic Party is in power. However, that number dropped to about 1/4 in 2025 when Donald Trump became president — reflecting a pattern similar to partisan swings within the U.S. itself.

The White House cited South Africa’s genocide case against Israel as a central reason for imposing sanctions, pairing it with concerns over the treatment of White farmers.
While mass violence against White farmers persisted during Trump’s first term with little action taken, South Africa’s recent opposition to Israel appears to have catalyzed the current split.

Just completed my two hour call with President Vladimir Putin of Russia. I believe it went very well. Russia and Ukraine will immediately start negotiations toward a Ceasefire and, more importantly, an END to the War. The conditions for that will be negotiated between the two parties, as it can only be, because they know details of a negotiation that nobody else would be aware of. The tone and spirit of the conversation were excellent. If it wasn’t, I would say so now, rather than later. Russia wants to do largescale TRADE with the United States when this catastrophic “bloodbath” is over, and I agree. There is a tremendous opportunity for Russia to create massive amounts of jobs and wealth. Its potential is UNLIMITED. Likewise, Ukraine can be a great beneficiary on Trade, in the process of rebuilding its Country. Negotiations between Russia and Ukraine will begin immediately. I have so informed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, of Ukraine, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, President Emmanuel Macron, of France, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, of Italy, Chancellor Friedrich Merz, of Germany, and President Alexander Stubb, of Finland, during a call with me, immediately after the call with President Putin. “National Socialism” was not an innovative idea. Neither was “non-Marxist socialism.” What was innovative about Hitler is that he combined these ideas with biological antisemitism.
Friedrich Naumann (1860 – 1919), for example, founded the National-Social Association in 1896. He claimed that the goal of the association was “National Socialism on a Christian foundation.” (nationaler Sozialismus auf christlicher Grundlage)
Before Naumann, you had the Christlichsoziale Arbeiterpartei, The Christian Socialist Workers Party, founded in 1878. It was an antisemitic party with a progressive economic platform.
National Socialism as an ideal predates Hitler’s involvement by 41 years. It was not new or fresh. This is an important truth — politics germinates slowly, and political breakthroughs are the result of opportunities being seized by those who have been preparing long in advance. But without a long-standing ideological foundation, these opportunities lose their usefulness.
